C C Rigging

Chris replaced all the standing rigging and much of the running rigging on our 1985 Catalina 36. He also replaced the lifelines, added mainsail reefing, and reset the bearings in our jib roller furling. We then sailed it to Catalina Island and were able to maintain 8.5 knots for some time with complete confidence. Six months later we sailed to Ixtapa, Mexico then headed north and cruised the Sea of Cortez to San Carlos. All the work he did was of top quality. Did I mention the topping lift? Just awesome!!! Chris tuned up the rig on my 38 Downeaster when I first bought the boat. Chris was very friendly and helpful, gave me solid advice with my tuneup. Chris definitely knows and loves his trade and I would recommend him to anybody!

My fiancée and I bought a 78 o’day at the end of last year in Oxnard. We had it inspected at the Channel Island marina and it turned out that it did, in fact, need the rigging repaired. We decided to sail it down and risk the failure until we got it down to San Diego. With nowhere to call home yet, we stopped in at Driscolls to get the bottom painted.
At the last minute I called Chris to see if he could do the rigging while I had it out of the water. I’m ignorant as to how all of this goes.
He showed up first thing the next morning while i’m waiting for Driscolls to open, climbs the rig and takes his inspection. We wanted a rolling furler installed at the same time at the head stay and Chris was completely knowledgeable as to what we’d want, likely. He didn’t know how cheap I am.
Long story short, once we got the boat parked at its new home on Harbor Island, Chris came down while I was at work and did the rig with the new furling system. He also came out later to measure the size of the headsail I’d need with the new rig and that boat. Free of charge. That was really nice.
So, I came away with the project done under budget, some new knowledge on my boat, and some sage advice. When meeting a woman, make sure she doesn’t get seasick. Its the key to a prosperous relationship.
