Tried this place for the first time & it was a disappointment. When ordering I gave specific instructions on how I wanted my order & they ended up getting it wrong. My co-worker was eating her food and found a HAIR in her food, disgusting!!! Also, they only gave us a few tortillas which wasn’t enough for our orders. This was a to go order so there wasn’t much we could do, that’s why I just had to write this review. Think twice before coming here!

If for some odd reason you are ever down near the Otay Border crossing i) on biz, for whatever reason & hungry, ii) killing time waiting for friends or relis to make their way thru Tijuana’s US Border Patrol & hungry, iii) or just plain ol’ running from the law(& hungry), wanting to make a quick & last nostalgic U.S. taco pit stop before you disappear into the maze of metro Tijuana, then: Café Vallarta is the place(tip: and they even do quick takeout orders — folks on the lam take note) There ain’t much at all down this way, other than gringo junk food galore and service stations with lotsa truckers eating potato chips and drinking soda. Café Vallarta was quick and efficient — nice fresh nacho chips with a yum homemade red salsa hot enough to lift a set of grandpa’s dentures and /or knock grandma’s knickers off…// shortly thereafter my lunch arrived: 3 tacos — carnitas, carne and pollo — no nonsense, fresh ingredients and fine flavor. $ 10 bucks later, I was on my merry way with a full tummy and on the road again back to civilization in lovely SD.

There’s not much to eat in Otay. It’s slim pickins’ and you can pick either Mexican food or fast food. I’ve had almost all the food down off the 905 and I can say that there aren’t many good places. This isn’t going to be a review that is going to speak to the sparkling little gem in the 92154. This place is average. It’s not bad, but not good. Sometimes the dishes are a bit pricey, and the parking is ridiculous here, it keeps me from being a regular.

Once again, Otay Mesa… limited selection. I’ve had the carnitas here and I didn’t think they were bad. The fish tacos are great, and lunch hour service is speedy. Overall, this place is a good choice, especially when I need to use the AMEX.
