Casa de las Campanas is a not-for-profit community whose mission is to provide seniors with the highest quality of care and services, while honoring their dignity and independence.
History
Established in 1988.
In April 1967, Alvasina Nolan, a retired secretary for the Superintendent of Riverside County schools, bequested eight acres of land to the Palm Springs Desert Division of the California Retired Teachers Association in hopes of building a teachers’ retirement residence. After reaching many obstacles while trying to build a community on the land, the teachers combined resources with the Foundation to Assist California Teachers (FACT) and sold Mrs. Nolan’s land so that they could build a community in Rancho Bernardo. At this time, it was decided that a retirement home for teachers only would not be economically feasible, so it was resolved that this community would be open to all professions. Casa de las Campanas opened on July 25, 1988 after an extensive 21 years of planning.
