Chris Brake Photography

Chris Brake has been to a lot of the Unilocal Elite Events to photograph us Unilocal ELite Party goers but I also follow him on Facebook so I have seen his countless other events that I am not privy to (just kidding). He does Personal Portraits, Events and other types of photography sessions.
He definitely is approachable and easy to talk to about your event or how you want a personal session to go. He has photographed every in both intimate (got ya! fun moments) to serious ones too. I recommend him wholeheartedly. Fees need to be discussed with him since it will depend on the event, how much you need him and where.
I used him for my personal Birthday Happy Hour and I have to say, you don’t have to encourage him to start taking pics. I appreciate his work as well as his friendship. Unilocal Elite does not mean you can’t give compliments where it is due even if you know the business, that is what we do.

It’s no coincidence that Chris is invited to photograph every big event in San Diego. He’s efficient, talented and makes his «models» feel very comfortable. He’s a big teddy bear with a fun personality and a top of the line camera!

I was recently treated to a complimentary photo session with Chris due to my involvement with the Unilocal Elite community so I took the opportunity to do new professional portraits.
Not only was it a fun photo shoot experience with Chris, who gets you at ease by chatting with you, but I was very impressed with the quality of the photos and quick turnaround (2 business days, edited shots uploaded to a shared Dropbox).
What’s super unique is that his studio is a block from the beach so we were able to do indoor and scenic outdoor portraits in very little time. I have gotten so many compliments on my beach portrait as well as the studio headshot which I use for Unilocal,LinkedIn and Facebook.
I had previously done indoor studio portraits at JCPenney and Picture People and was very unhappy with those shots. I didn’t recognize myself. I don’t know how Chris was able to capture me more accurately on digital film and even make me look pretty. A week later I met with another photographer to do corporate head shots assigned by my workplace and I preferred Chris’ because they were crisp, lively, brighter and better captured my optimistic nature.
As an aside I’ve seen many of his event photos and he captures moments naturally and events beautifully. His photo drone gets truly unique aerial shots which I would love to have for my wedding.

Chris recently captured a Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser I was hosting and absolutely exceeded my expectations. Great candid and action shots, posed photos, and compelling images of the venues, sponsors, and prizes. Lighting was spot on and every picture perfectly framed. He had a great disposition during the event as well, in one case where one gentleman decided to photo bomb all of his photos he politely let him have his moment, and then got another photo of the original group. Very well handled! I received edited photos only two days later and was blown away — they were fantastic! I definitely recommend Chris!

I hired Chris to shoot the annual US Air Guitar Championships here in San Diego. Simply put, he exceeded every expectation I had. He captured the show’s energy perfectly through multiple angles, excellent lighting and candid shots of competitors and audience members alike. He even shot and edited an awesome compilation video of the evening for our post-​show wrap-​up!
Aside from his excellent work, Chris was excellent to work WITH. Super friendly, approachable and showed genuine concern for making sure he captured everything I asked for. He was always quick to respond to questions and comments before and after the show and kept me in the loop during his process. Great communication is not as common as it should be in the entertainment industry and Chris was as good as it gets.
Bottom line — hire this guy and you’ll have an awesome experience with impeccable results. Thanks again for all the great work!

I first met Chris from Chris Brake Photography at a Unilocal Elite event, since he covers many of them. At the particular event that I went to, he offered a free photoshoot for all Unilocal Elite members present. Being that I needed new headshots for my portfolio, I contacted Chris and asked if I could take him up on his offer.
I figured it was time to update my professional portfolio with «legit» headshots taken from an actual photographer – contrary to the ones I currently possess – and it was easy to schedule a time for Chris to take my headshots. Since I just needed something simple – professional headshots – I asked if I could just get the photos taken at Chris’ studio, located in Pacific Beach. He gladly obliged and provided me with some helpful tips regarding lighting and colors to stay away from (he told me he would be shooting on a white backdrop so to stay away from wearing white, etc.).
Since I had never really gotten headshots taken by a professional photographer before, I didn’t have a clue as to what I was doing — how to stand, position myself, etc. Fortunately, Chris makes you feel at ease right away and is super easy to work with! He gave me some ideas of the different shots and poses he was going to take, and the whole photoshoot took 15 – 20 minutes, tops. It was easy, effortless and not forced at all! We did several different poses – me facing forward, facing the left and right for «profile» shots, facing forward with arms crossed and a final one with my head turned – so I would have a good selection to choose from. Chris took four or five shots of each pose – with me smiling and not smiling with each option – so I could have both fun and serious looks. When he was finished, he showed me what the photos looked like on his camera, and I was really pleased with the results. The white background drew more attention to my profile – which was great, for headshot purposes – and it was nice to be able to get a preview of what the photos looked like.
Chris sent me the Dropbox link to my photos by the very next evening … talk about a quick turnaround, which is always appreciated! From there, he told me I could use any of the photos and let him know if I wanted further action on any specific prints.
Chris does events and local San Diego coverage – ranging from concerts to weddings – and I highly recommend him! He’s not only easy to work with and takes good photos, but he’s also funny and will make you feel at ease during the photoshoot. What a great experience was to have my headshots taken by Chris Brake Photography (one of the shots is actually my new Unilocal profile picture!).

Chris is a great photographer, period! When I see him in the room at Unilocal events, I know that we’re in good hands and I can put my camera phone down and enjoy the moment because Chris has it covered!
The great thing about him is that he just doesn’t pick up his camera to take photos, he’s very interactive and he is very friendly to boot! He brings out the best in you in all of his photos and any beautiful scenic background? He captures it somehow, without distorting you in the foreground.
His photos are vibrant, colorful and lovely. I’m a fan of his work in general. Thank you for capturing priceless moments, Chris!

I honestly think that I’m not a photogenic person, I don’t like taking pictures of myself, I kinda think I look funny, idk it could be just me, but Chris has an amazing talent and has taken so many wonderful pictures at different events and I honestly think he has magic powers…
Idk how he always manages to get amazing angles and fantastic shots but I’m really happy seeing the every single picture.
Chris always has a fantastic attitude, he’s easy to work with, he is super professional and likes to blend in with the crowd and you can see that on every picture. He goes above and beyond to make sure the pictures are great and the quality of his work is superb.

Chris is probably the best photographer in all of San Diego, hands down. Not only are his pictures amazing, but he also has the best personality which makes for great photos.
You can tell he loves what he does, it shows in every photo with all of the details and time he takes with each one. If these are moments you want to remember forever, of course you want the best picture, and Chris is the best.

Chris was absolutely incredible! Not only is he easy going and such a pleasure to be around but the pictures he took of my fiancé and I were stunning. I did not know we could look that good but Chris made it happen. He led the shoot extremely well, encouraging us along the way and choosing excellent locations for photos. We are very happy and could not recommend him enough for engagement pictures!

Chris is the photographer for our Unilocal events and I am always looking forward to seeing the photos from the events. He does a great job making us look good, especially in low-​light situations. Chris Brake is a great photographer.
I met him when he photographed USD’s Senior Night at the Hard Rock. Sometime later, we met up and did a photo shoot in Mission Bay. My sister and I got on jet skis and Chris took some amazing candid shots.
Chris is professional, has a keen eye for catching great moments and his editing skills are incomparable.

I have nothing but good things to say about Chris and his expertise. I first met Chris at past Unilocal Elite Events and liked what I saw.
I approached Chris to photograph my birthday party celebration/​event a month in advance and we discussed what was going to happen. I contacted him two weeks prior to the event to confirm and he was quick to email me back and also confirmed the time and date with me a couple of days before. Also, the turn around time for my photos took 1 day. Now that’s service.
During my event, he worked his way around the crowd and started taking a lot of candid shots as well as group shots.
