Been here like 5 times I love it!!! It’s not another boring taco shop, I like the set up where you get to look at the food before you order and sample if desired. I have had the Picadillo, Chilaquiles Bomba, Bistec Ranchero, Some shredded pork, and Barbacoa (I think). It was all tasty and/​or spicy, just how I like it. On the weekend the menu is not as varietal, mostly Chilaquiles and tortas, so your best bet is to go during the week, the main dishes are different everyday. The Aquas Frescas are different, not your regular traditional stuff but they are definitely worth a try. Portions are generous, Salsas are fresh, place is clean, staff is pretty friendly, and service is quicker than most. I Have yet to be disappointed.

It was ok, authentic or not as far as super good food goes, I wasn’t blown away. A glorified taco shop that only serves chiliquelies. The food wasn’t bad neither was the service. Just for the price and time it took the food to come it was just ok.

This was mu first stop after returning from China where Chilaquiles were a bad experience. I loved that they had multiple kinds of chilaquiles. I ordered the ones that have carnitas and WOW they were the bomb. I can’t wait to be back in San Diego to try their other chilaquiles.

As someone who grew up in Mexico, I’m so happy to have found this place. Everything we’ve tried has been awesome, especially their tortillas and breakfasts. I’ve tried every flavor of chilaquiles and each of their sauces is amazing, but my favorite is the poblano.
I check their fb occasionally since they switch up their weekday dishes, and on weekends they only have brunch. Saw a two star review that was pissed that they kept going on weekends and they never had lunch, umm. ask fool! Anyway, it’s all tasty.

Getting stranded in Mexico City was probably the best travel hiccup ever. My friends and I ended up staying in a drug dealer high rise near Zocalo for less than a hundred dollars a night. It was a two bedroom suite with sweeping views of the city and all you can steal mini bottles of liquor. It also included free breakfast. That’s when the magic happened. We were encouraged to try chilaquiles and the rest was history.
Nothing ever compared until today. The best. THE BEST. They lay out the chilaquiles so it’s dummy and foreign proof. Salivate, point and choose.
I don’t know about their whole 1 entrée or 2 entrée combo. Nor do I know anything about their build a salad and build a torta option. They also have ceviche, soup, churro waffle, burritos and an array of aguas frescas.
I ordered, rather I pointed at the carne chilaquiles. My GF instructed me to ONLY order chilaquiles because I had to taste all that bombness. When she wasn’t paying attention, I snuck in an oder of churro waffles and mexican coffee. YUM. YUM. YUM. Everything was so fantastic. I will be returning for sure!
Oh, I forgot to mention the beautiful owner and his melting mexican accent. Yowsah! Hands off ladies, I think that this restaurant is owned by a husband and wife duo!

We immediately bookmarked Cocina 35 upon learning that they specialize in chilaquiles, and we were not disappointed when we stopped in shortly thereafter. New to Cortez Hill, Cocina 35 specializes in #oldschoolmexicanfood’ and offers a variety of breakfast and lunch items… and 5 – 6 different types of those chilaquiles. The food was great and we are looking forward to checking out a taco tuesday soon.

They ONLY serve breakfast on weekends. The food is a delight. They bring a deliscious contemporary twist to traditional dishes. Stop by if you’re in the area and try the torta or their ranchero chilaquiles

They had me at «chilaquiles.» I am always on the lookout for a good place to get my fix and they claim to have the best chilaquiles in town so I had to confirm for myself. Sure enough, the food lived up to the hype and is a nice alternative to all the taco shops scattered throughout San Diego, in that Cocina 35 offers more authentic dishes that go beyond tacos and burritos (but I think they have those too!).
The huzz and I went at around 11 a.m. on a Saturday, during which they only serve breakfast. They had several different types of chilaquiles to choose from with varying sauces and meats and level of spice. I went with the rojo (red sauce) and added carnitas and an egg (Do it. You’ll thank me later) while the huzz ordered the ranchero (with chorizo). Both were delicious — full of flavor and perfectly crisp fried tortillas. I can’t wait to go back and try the other types of chilaquiles and all their other dishes.
Only downfall is that it seemed to take some time to get our food (but that could have been my imagination because I was starving at the time and so anxious to get my food after seeing the plates of food around us) and the food was not very hot when it was finally served. Regardless, the food made up for those small imperfections and I will definitely be back!

Authentic, delicious and clean. Seriously it’s kind of hard finding authentic chilaquiles in San Diego. This place hits home. After trying la bomba chilaquiles bite after bite I continued trying to see if I would add anything to it to make it better and seriously the only thing I would have liked on the side would be a nice chile asado. They were not soggy at all which, crunchy chilaquiles are my preference it was perfect. If you’re looking to try the chilaquiles they do make them to order and they stop serving them mon-​friday after 11:30am.

First time here and I’m in love! I saw the pictures on Unilocal and the food looked super tasty so I had to try it out. Expectations have been exceeded. I’m Mexican so I can tell you that I am super picky with the flavor of Mexican food especially salsas. The Chilaquiles are delicious! I got «La Bomba» which has cochinita pibil. I love the crunchy tortilla, the salsa is tasty, cochinita pibil is delicious, sour cream, cilantro and topped with avocado. My bf got Chilaquiles Rojas cause he doesn’t like too spicy or cilantro and onions lol The spice in the salsas is mild, they say some are spicy and some are mild but the green salsa and the red salsas were equally mild: D

This was my first visit and i was not disappointed! The food was delicious! The Bomba chilakiles was sooo tasty! And great portions! I couldn’t finish it. Just the perfect amount of spice for my palate. And the limeade strawberry agua fresca was yummy!

Cute restaurant. Came for lunch and they have some great options. The food is fresh and delicious. I had the beef red chili and the pibil. The food is not spicy so this place is safe for gringos who can’t handle the spice. They have Aguas Freshcas which is such a refreshing beverage. I will come back again. Come eat here.

Stopped by here and decided to only get a drink. As the place is A La Carte cafeteria style. Reminded me of grade school lunch lines or Panda Garden.
I did not see a salsa bar there as well.
The food may be great I’m not sure, but for a Mexican restaurant in SD. I would definitely prefer the small out of the way taco shack that cooks your order on demand.

La comida está buena. Para desayuno deben de probar el tochomorocho. Las salsas verdes estaban buenas.

I had seen this as a hot new place so we decided to give it a try. I was not at all disappointed.
We stopped by for a late breakfast. The place is clean and the staff was very nice and helpful.
We ordered the Enfrijoladas with Chorizo Beans, they were amazing packed with cheese and cooked to perfection. The beans were so full of flavor and made you want more.
We also had the Tamales Granitos, they were sweet and cooked to perfection, topped with crema and a side of ref ride beans,
I can’t wait to come back for lunch.
A Must Try Spot.

Friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, clean and great prices = qualities of a good restaurant.
Plus it’s my local spot so all the better!!!

I had a pretty good breakfast at this new Mexican eatery with cuisine more typical of southern and central Mexico, such as Mexico City. I ordered the Chiliquilas La Bomba with scrambled eggs which they an extra $ 1.50 for already on top of the $ 7.50, and an additional charge of $ 2.50 for the cochinita pibil or slow roasted pork in a red sauce.
I really enjoyed the Chiliquilas La Bomba with the poblano green cream sauce and crunchy thick corn tortillas. I was impressed on how the tortilla chips stayed sturdy and crunchy throughout the meal. The cochinita pibil was very good. The pork meat was very tender and the flavor of the annatto was very evident. The pibil was also very well seasoned and rendered down. The avocado was freshly sliced and the pickled onions had a great sour flavor. I really liked that they did not hold back on the Cotija cheese. I love that cheese.
Although the Chiliquilas were great and the cochinita pibil quite good, they could not make a proper plate of scrambled eggs. They eggs initially came on top of the chiliquilas, but they were improperly scrambled. The yellow and white were separated and some of the white part was under down, so I asked them to re-​fire the eggs, which they had no problem doing. However, when I received my second serving of the scrambled eggs, they were not any better. They were still improperly scrambled but this time they were over done, dry, and not all seasoned, not to mentioned burned in areas. When the female served ask me how they were, I told her I could not eat them, given their condition, and she was not surprised, apologized, and agreed that they were not made correctly.
In the end, great food, but they really need to find or teach someone how to properly make scrambled eggs. It’s not that difficult. Oh yes, my server felt so bad that she brought me over and great tasting serving of flan!

I ordered breakfast to go, for my team, and it was great.
They don’t open until 9am, but were willing to let me pick up a little earlier so I could get my food to my people on time. Cesar (spelling?) was outside cleaning tables when I walked up and he immediately dropped what he was doing to help me to pay.
The inside is clean and cool. I’d like to eat in sometime, just to experience it.
Everyone really liked their food and it was nice and hot for them! We ordered:
2 Huevitos LIght
2 Huevos Rancheros
2 Chilaquiles (one rojos and one verde; but I couldn’t tell the difference, they both looked red… I wonder if it was a mistake?) No matter, they were both really tasty!
6 great breakfasts came to about $ 60 including tip, so I’m happy with them and will try them again, hopefully very soon!
We should have an ELITE party here :) I think the spot would be great!
