I ordered the 5 roll tacos of chicken and fish. It was excellent– savory and crunchy. Their prices are very fair and staff very friendly. Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

This place has a lot of good things. It really does my only complaint is that the employees don’t pay attention to your order. I live so close that I keep trying to give more chances but time after time I end up disappointed because they get my order wrong. Also I got a bean & cheese for my 8yr old and 2yr old to share and it was so spicy they couldn’t handle it.

I have have been going here my whole life and I have enjoyed your crispy roll tacos and fresh fish tacos. For the past year my trips here have been less often for a number of reasons. I have come here maybe three times in the last year so I remember each and every time I’ve visited and each and every time something has went wrong. In one instance the cashier forgot to hand me my third drink and I had pulled out of the driveway not noticing and then finally had to return to retrieve it. The others were all the same. They put guacamole on my roll tacos after I specifically tell them not to. Today I used the drive thru and asked for 3 rolled tacos and told the lady no guacamole please and she repeated«no Guacamole?» And I replied yes no guacamole. The message seemed understood and I thought it got through to her knowing she repeated my order. I give her a tip, I pull away, go home… sit down to eat my delicious rolled tacos… WHAT! There is GUACAMOLEONMYTACOS??? Either she forgot my order in .5 sec or didn’t tell the cook and should be fired. Or the cook forgot my order and carelessly made the food and should be fired. Either way someone needs to be fired. I’m done ranting and raving. Have a good day!

I’ve always gone here and I loved the food. Until today I ordered my 5 year old daughter rolled tacos and the meat was rotten /bad. It smelled as I opened the box. Never going here again .you should be aware of the product you’re feeding the public .i also ordered the surf and turf and it was a shrimp burrito.

Okay, where do I start? The service here is the absolute worst. The woman at the drive through window was not only rude but dismissive. She came off like she could care less about our business and her job. Truth is, there are a lot of amazing taco shops in San Diego and we decided to spend our money at this one. Our California burritos were okay but definitely not worth the $ 7 they are charging for them. Right now we are kicking ourselves that we didn’t just go to Lolita’s!

I’ve eaten at Cotijas a lot in my life. There’s different versions of the chain all over town. This particular one in Sherman is pretty dingy on the inside. But it’s worth it. This is the first place I’ve ever had a Shrimp California Burrito. Basically a California burrito replacing Carne Asada with Shrimp. I thought it sounded funny, but that’s why I tried it. It’s pretty damn good. The very next week instead of a Shrimp Cali, I got the Fish & Chips burrito, which is essentially a California Burrito with fried fish instead of Carne Asada. It was REALLY good. Make sure you got limes on deck, and give it a shot.

I’m sitting in their parking lot as I write this. All day yesterday I was daydreaming of the perfect breakfast burrito. I live very close to this place and I drive their sign every day multiple times. I always saw their sign up and thought«Hey this place looks good». Fast forward to today. I stop here for lunch, excited to see their offerings. First off, they hace a nice selection of menu items. I settled on the breakfast burrito because of course I needed to satisfy my craving. The driveway was busy so the woman at the window was busy but she took my order quickly and I recieved it within 10 minutes or less of waiting. This place is old, and it is awfully dark and dingy inside. The horchata was delightful but my burrito was very squishy. I took multiple bites to find it was pretty much pure bean with a little egg, cheese, and ham here and there. I might as well have just ordered a bean and cheese burrito. It was also incredibly greasy and I had to stop eating it partway through. Too bad :/

Sometimes I go through old pictures and see skinny, errrr, skinnier, Brad. That Brad hit a comfortable fighting weight, didn’t exercise much and ate almost anything he wanted. The trick for skinnier Brad was to avoid most carbs, which meant Mexican food was almost entirely out of the question. Fatter Brad still tries to make healthier carbless decisions whenever possible and boy oh boy does Cotija’s have a solution… the Caesar salad. Mindfreak! Yeah, ordering a Caesar salad at a taco shop seems like a sin but only until you try it. This place does it right and for $ 7.00 you’ll land yourself a massive plate of romaine, vegetables that vary from visit to visit and either grilled chicken or shrimp. I’ve tried the grilled chicken and asked to substitute carne asada and both were really delicious. The last time I even asked for the dressing on the side and for them to hook me up with extra green salsa and they were happy to do it. Guess what I did? Yep, bailed the dressing and dressed my salad with the salsa instead — good stuff! I know, I know, it’s hardly a Caesar at this point, but knowing that I am able to find a healthier option at all hours of the night is some pretty sound piece of mind.

Decided to stop by with my dad after work. Cashier was eating, didn’t greet me at all, as if I wasn’t there. I had to ask where i can order. Dad asked for green chilaquiles and got red ones instead. My breakfast chipotle burrito was horrendous. Didn’t get our drinks till 5 min into our meal. Also, the cook was talking to his friend over the counter like if it’s a kickback, and we find out we got charged more for the chilaquiles then what they were priced for in the menu. Bad quality, bad customer service, no hospitality whatsoever. Highlight of the day was the salsa but I rather have great food and service with decent salsa. Won’t come back. Sorry

No ambiance here, just the most authentic Mexican food in town. My fav. hole in the wall. Plenty of salsas and others toppings, onions, jalapeños and carrots to enjoy. The green salsa is by far the best I’ve tried. The hot red salsa is delish. I ordered the Chilaquiles on this visit, they were just like my momma use to make… delish. My husband order rolled taquitos, they were delish, stuffed with beef and topped with guacamole. The guac, is delish, light and delish, uh huh. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for real Mexican food.

Im not a big fan of their carne asada but they have excellent shrimp quesadillas and shrimp burritos. That’s there flagship menu item. Haven’t tried the chicken though but I probably never will. I always order the shrimp quesadilla.

Review on a flash: 1. No restroom, no fork, place need updating. 2. Good shrimp burrito 3. Better order your food on the drive through. A co-worker and I stopped by this joint for lunch last Wednesday(6.17.15). It was 12;30 noon nd no one was there, hmm. The place was small, then found out there’s NORESTROOM, but the woman on the counter told me that Jack In Box across the street has one. Gheez! Anyway, I ordered shrimp burrito and my co-worker a bean burrito and we also got a horchata drink. We decided to eat on their front patio because inside was a bit and dingy. Outside was clean but need some updating. The shrimp burrito was good but my co-worker bean burrito disintegrated because it was wrapped so bad that the it came out so soggy. She asked for a fork and but they don’t have one. So overall it’s A-Ok, Next time I’ll just use the drive thru.

Save your time and money and go to the one in Point Loma. This place has gone immensely downhill. It’s like the quality of food and service just went out the window, like it didn’t even matter. Like all great things in life, they must come to an end, kind of like Breaking Bad…

Went in through the drive thru to order a fruit salad at 3pm and they told me to hold on. Few minutes go by and I struggled to understand what they were saying over the loud voice since it sounds broken anyways back to my order. They told me… they hadn’t had fruit delivered since the prior week(what??? o. o) then he just stood quiet after that, so I just said okay thank you and left. I was hesitant to go in because of all the mixed/bad reviews but after my experience I don’t think I’ll be going again. I’m giving them two stars because the customer service wasn’t that good. I have no idea who they employee was but it seems like they were annoyed when I was trying to order. If he would’ve been more pleasant I probably would have ordered something.

I ordered a Diablo burrito back in June or so and it was B.O.M.B! If you don’t know what a Diablo shrimp burrito is, I’ll tell ya! First, it is a shrimp and rice burrito with a spicy sauce or something added. My assumption is it is added to shrimp when cooking??? I don’t really know but it’s spicy and my name isn’t Andrew Zimern so if you need more specifics, order the damn thing! haha Ok so back in June I ordered the Diablo burrito and I had never really had it because I thought it was going to be too hot for me, although I’m a spicy mf’er, I didn’t want to challenge my taste buds. However, on this particular summer day, I thought it was time to take the plunge and get r done with a Diablo shrimp burrito. Again, the shrimp seemed to never end and I thought the end of my burrito was embedded in the sea floor with never ending shrimp swimming to their demise. So we have shrimp and mexican rice and a spicy sauce of some sort. On this particular day, they added some cream and the combination left me in shambles with my knees shaking in weakness like I just had an Olympic size orgas***! Ok, back to the food. So this burrito was the B.O.M.B! I had to go back for more so I did about a week later and I think Nemo warned the shrimp because they were lacking on their macking! The first burrito was awesome, I had a bite or two of shrimp with every savory morsel I bit but the second, third, fourth, and fifth times, it was like I ordered a rice burrito with some shrimp! I feel bamboozled! Do you want a shrimp burrito with rice or a rice burrito with shrimp? huh??? I’m waiting??? So, long story short, the flavor is butter but the shrimp is margarine. Cotijas, ADDMOREDAMNSHRIMPINTHEDIABLOBURRITO! PORFAVOR! It was perfect and you ruined it with the lonely 6 shrimp per burrito! It’s not worth the 7 bucks anymore! If you want more economical food that tastes good, go about a block east and there is another taco shop. However, if you want a Diablo shrimp burrito, Cotijas is the only spot around so if you’re ok with 6 or maybe 7 shrimp and A LOT of rice, go to Cotijas. May the shrimp be with you… I’ll add two stars when they add more shrimp!!!

The chicken asada taco was good, and the carnitas was aight. The beans were decent and the rice was sticky. The main reason I’m giving this place 1 star is because I had to literally have a fist fight with the flys! Needless to say the flys won. Plus it was super hot inside the restraunt. So in the end the flies beat me to the punch by kamakazi straight in the big green salsa container. I didn’t know their plot till the very end when I was near the end of my hot sauce! I got a pic to prove it as well. I told the guy the situation and he just shrugged it off like«no big deal». Oh well you have ALL been warned.

Had a hankering for taquitos dorados, rolled crispy Tacos. They looked delectably awesome, but alas the meat had no flavor. The guacamole is plentiful and decent and tasted good. They are topped with good thinly shaved cheese, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, which I appreciate for not being old and mushy, but crisp. Hirchata was too sweet for my liking. Price was. decent $ 7 for five loaded tacos and drink. Spicy salsa. I am curious to try their soups next time.

Meh. We came to Cotija’s as part of our«find taco shops other than Lolita’s» quest, and I was hoping to be impressed, if not blown away. Unfortunately, that did not happen. We went through the drive-thru, as it was late and neither of us felt like actually getting out of the vehicle. The prices on the menu board were covered up, so it was anybody’s guess what we’d paying for what we ordered. I got my usual — to gauge them against other taco shops, of course — a carne asada burrito with sour cream. The hubs got a California burrito. The guy repeated our order back to us, then said, «That’ll be $ 14(and change), pull forward.» I went, «HOW much did he say?» More than $ 14 for two burritos? I was shocked, but willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I mean, I’ll happily pay $ 14 for food that makes me go, mmmm! So, we get to the window, and we wait for a bit for the guy to even acknowledge us(it’s not like we went around the block a couple dozen times — you knew we were two seconds away from the window…) We pay, he asks if we want hot sauce(duh!) and then he hands us the bag of food. It was HOT. And heavy! As dirty as that sounds, I took it as one more good sign. As I started to drool a little at the thought of a hot, delicious CAB, my husband pointed the car towards home and we went on our way. Seriously — I had to put the bag on the chair next to me because I was afraid I’d get burned if I left it on my skin. That’s how hot it was. Anyway — we get home, we divvy up the spoils(they marked the California Burrito so we could easily tell which was which — small thing, but it means a lot to people like me, who don’t want to tear apart a burrito to poke around the guts. I only poke around the guts when I’m adding in my hot sauce. But I digress.) My burrito was just okay. The meat was a little bland, and it felt rubbery in my mouth, like it was old and had been sitting around for a while. My husband wasn’t impressed by his burrito, either. His biggest complaint was that the potato-substance they used in the burrito wasn’t a fistful of fries, it was more like country fries. The fact that they still had the skins on them turned him off. So, to be fair, the burritos were massive. But, I’d rather have a smaller, normal-sized burrito that’s delectable than a huge burrito that’s bland or rubbery. I give them one star for the fact that they’re trying their damnedest to fatten us up with the sizes of their burritos, and one star for labeling the package so we knew what we had at a glance. I really don’t have much else to say, other than the taco shop hunt continues…
