I’ve been hearing about this place for some time now and I finally decided to check it out. I’m so glad I did! The fried chicken was really good that we went back 2 days later for more. Everything from the texture to the seasoning was absolutely perfect. The sauce that they included was an awesome touch.

Long overdue review. And you know what? I STILL haven’t tried the fried chicken here! Update coming soon. My go to here is the 3 strips 3 shrimp combo with mac and cheese and fries. The chicken strips are always hot, crispy, and juicy inside. I haven’t had better tenderloins anywhere else to tell you the truth. When you get them you think they’re going to be dry in the middle and then bam, a mouthful of hot, juicy, tender white meat. The shrimp here is also good, butterflied and crispy deliciousness. You might not like the mac and cheese, and I’ve definitely had better, but for some reason I love it. Reminds me of my childhood somehow. I just hate it comes in a tiny sauce cup, I need at least 2 more of those. The fried fish wasn’t great at all. Salty and not crispy enough for me. The gizzards are ok, but again, I’ve had better homemade. I really only come here for the strips and shrimp, they’re just that damn good. Everything is made to order so call ahead or you could be waiting 20 minutes or more if it’s busy. Bring your cash unless you don’t mind the $.30 card fee.

The gizzards are very small. Like popcorn shrimp. I prefer full sized not cut pieces. Nothing special here.

This is definitely one of the best chicken places I have eaten at. Although the regular chicken is great, the tenders are what I go for. They are so good and the meat is very juicy. The skin is crispy but not too crispy. And the hot sauce makes everything go so well together. Whenever I want chicken in SD I go here unless there’s a Popeyes coupon for the month.

Enter and sniff air Scent of fryer tantalizes Golden fried chicken. I love fried food and my search has brought me to Crispy Fried Chicken. That search never ends as often I’ll find a great fried food spot and then they go out of business. Batter Up! had awesome southern style fried chicken wings. Huffman’s BBQ had cooked to order fried chicken so juicy and full of flavor. SQUEBBQ had awesome southern style fried chicken wings and zucchini. So much delicious fried food gone forever… Fried chicken has a nice crunchy batter while the chicken is hot and juicy. Kinda like Popeye’s mild. Fried catfish has a thicker than normal cornmeal coating making it crunchier than normal. Catfish was flaky and juicy. Fried catfish bites was smaller pieces of catfish with a thin cornmeal batter. Catfish was flaky and juicy. Fried red snapper had the same cornmeal batter as the catfish only a thiner application. Red snapper was flaky and juicy. Chicken strips had a tempura batter which was very tasty and how I like my shrimp fried. Shrimp fried rice regular portion. More than I could eat unless I order nothing else. While I like the rice I would have liked more flavorful shrimp. Better than Panda Express but missing the smoky wok flavor you get at 777 Noodle House. Prices are equal or lower than other fast food places I tried. I prefer the fried chicken here to Crispy Fried Chicken’s big chain competitors. Owner is cool and looks like his whole family helps run this place. The fried fish especially the red snapper is among the best I’ve found at a fast food joint.

The place is so small only few tables and a few gaming arcade and candy machine. The food is ok, for me i think popeye chicken is more better than this place. The gizzard is so hard.

Living in the neighborhood, I have seen no posted change of ownership. Between visits, something has changed. I am not sure the change to the situation is the best development idea for the business. Sometimes, the environment of the day just rocks in the wrong direction and representative business suffers. On walking in Wednesday afternoon, 6PM, no one in front of me to justify any wait, I ordered 10 catfish nuggets, 6 chicken strips and an order of chicken gizzards. The person who accepted my request educated me that my wait should be 8 minutes. Armed with this knowledge, I left the establishment in pursuit of a beverage that would appropriately accompany my dining selections. I walked to a nearby culinary outlet that offered beverages of a vintage appropriate to my anticipated experience. Returning 10 minutes later, I catch the counter person’s eye to acknowledge I am back. He is waiting on 2 customers, has 3 more waiting in line, but no one to back him up. 2 minutes becomes 4…6…8. He has finished taking all the orders and no one new has walked in. I move toward the pick up area and am asked what I am waiting on. Holding up my ticket, I read off the number and items I ordered… and the fact it has been 20 minutes since my order. He heads into the fryer area, stands there for a few minutes, then becomes a flurry of activity, pulling baskets out of fryers, dumping fried items in baskets and putting baskets in bags, setting up a bunch of bagged items under the heat lamps, until he arrives at my catfish, chicken strips and gizzards. From order to pick up…31 minutes. For the taste of the grease, it is not worth the time.

My initial experience; 30 minutes before closing was kind of a typical Asian situation of oppression. I had to order RIGHT at that moment, NOLATER! I didn’t got the chance to select my own order. The rude lady behind the counter made our choice almost herself. Oh well, it’s still fried chicken– and we might even eat it later; we thought. After some overcharged jokes and half an hour wait, I got handed the order and before I could say thank you: ”CLICK” (… and darkness filled the room after hearing the switch turn off). This place has mediocre chicken, I needed to salt the greasy stuff up, because it lacks spices, Furthermore, incredibly rude and sketchy service. Summarized: Overpriced spot in the ghetto serving greasy food with an attitude. You might as well better off going to Poppeye’s, the only thing that’s kind of nice about here(and I’m saying it in a very hesitant way; is the made to order mentality). Oh, and there’s a 0.35ct creditcard fees on all orders big and small. Another 50cents added for a small container of dipping sauce?

The white meat chicken strips are sooo juicy, tender, and. well, crispy! 3 piece, with 2 sides. The hush puppies were seasoned well. The outside had that awesome crunch and the inside was very moist. The mac and cheese was a little funky tasting(not gonna lie), but the texture made up for it. I def wanna try their cornbread next time. If you are contemplating visiting here, parking can be a bit of a ‘B’, but the chicken is totally dope!

I’ve driven past many times and have been told that this is the best chicken so finally the day has come. Crispy Fried Chicken, let’s see what you’ve got. I ordered a 10 piece mixed meal with mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and added corn on the cob. I don’t eat the skin so it may have been salty, but the chicken was great. It was juicy and tender and surprisingly very flavorful. The mac & cheese was good, though it tasted like it was made with velveeta, I would definitely have it again. The gravy was also very good but the mashed potatoes could use some help. Definitely tasted like boxed potato flakes. The location is sketchy but that’s part of the charm. Parking kind of sucks but there’s plenty of tables inside. Stick around, grab a seat, this one’s worth it.

Went out of my way to try this place out. I almost got shot, but it was worth it. Service was good and the prices were right! The gizzards were perfectly cooked, and not too greasy. The fried chicken was delicious and moist. Mashed potatoes and mac were also bomb. I just wish they offered a spicy version of their chicken!

I expected Crispy Fried chicken, I guess I should have gone with Fried Chicken as opposed to Chicken strips. The Shrimp were super crispy, the Hush puppies were also good, the onion rings not so much… the popcorn chicken was also not very crispy. The restaurant was not super clean but the Cashier was very friendly and helpful!

This review is only three stars because of the din in facility. I’m not their book keeper but if there is extra money it should go into the building The Crispy fried chicken was good though! It was fresh and hot and seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were ok and the corn was a nice touch. The price is fair and the line was short. I would return but I would get my food to go next time.

Yes they make some regular crispy fried chicken and among a few other things here, but they also make some crispy chicken wings and drumettes, a perfect way to satisfy a Wing Wednesday craving. I ordered an combo deal which included five hot wings and two sides for $ 7. For my hot wings, I ordered them plain, just breaded and fried, with the hot sauce on the side. My two sides were the mac and cheese and some sweet potato fries. The wings were very well prepared. The breading was just right, where it offered a light crunch, adhered well to the chicken, and had seasoning that was on point. The frying process was just right, because the breading was not oily and neither was the tender chicken meat inside. I liked having the hot sauce on the side because I was able to control the amount of sauce and or eat some of the wings without it. The mac and cheese had that nice creamy cheesy appeal and arrived nice and warm. The cheese was velvety and creamy and found its way through all the tender elbow macaroni. The cheese had good flavor and a I really appreciated the addition of black pepper to the cheese sauce. The sweet potato fried were very good, with a light crispy exterior and soft center. They had just enough salt, that made them enjoyable to eat on their own. The place is not much to look at, but do they do offer great daily specials and make some very good fried chicken.

I’ve been coming here for years! This is the CHICKENSPOTTOGOTO. It isn’t in one of the best neighbors but don’t let that fool you. This place is small with a small parking lot so be careful of other cars. The chicken, biscuits and mac and cheese will make you forget about KFC and Popeyes.

Ok where can you find good fried chicken in San Diego? That is my question that has been in my mind ever since my wife asked me back in the day. Seriously this place is legit, there is this cool Asian family running this small store and it is quite unexpected and cool that they are cooking Southern Soul Food. I would say get the fried chicken and the hot wings. Both were juciy and you can take options for the wings like wet or dry — the seasoning is out of this world and just the right amount of spicy for me. Great place for comfort food and good price too. Definitely get the cornbread as a side, I’ve been looking at the reviews about the mac n’ cheese so I opted out but I’m coming back for you Crispy Fried Chicken — you had me at crispy. Also I would defintely chime in about the calling ahead tip, you should call ahead as it gets busy and the service, though cool, takes time — if you want fresh then you need to wait.

I’d consider myself a fried food expert. I fry myself and have also tasted fried foods everywhere from down south to mexico. So here’s my opinion… Starting with the actual establishment, it appears to be owned by an Asian family which is ok because I believe Asian people fry chicken closest to African Americans. There is no décor, it is in a sketchy part of town, and reminds me of a fried chicken place in LA. Like in Compton of something. So I created my own combo since they did not have it, I got a 2 piece dark meat with a 2 piece fried catfish fillet. My side choices were the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with no gravy, I love gravy but their gravy looked suspect so I chose to pass on it. The catfish fillet batter that the fillet was fried in was extremely salty. The fish itself was fried to perfection. But I just couldn’t take all the saltiness. The mashed potatoes had no flavor what’s so ever and I regretted not getting the gravy. The mac and cheese was by far the grossest Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Watery, over cooked noodles and tasted heavily of black pepper. The only thing that I believe was worth the 12 $ I paid was the fried chicken. It was flavorful not greasy and fried perfectly.

I’m a bit perturbed my new landlord failed to disclose this place a block away from the new apartment. Perturbed because it will seriously negate what I’m spending on a gym membership. The chicken is great… sometimes fried chicken can be a bit too crunchy, but the skin here is thin, yet crispy. It’s a bit divey inside but the food is remarkably cheap. So cheap that I wonder why I’d bother buying grocery store chicken when this is both budget friendly and served so freakishly fast. Maybe eating it while on the treadmill is a good compromise, though that wouldn’t be fair to the other gym goers.

Yes, please! I love Crispy Fried Chicken. It’s true to its name and the chicken is crispy and delicious. This place is walking distance from my house, so when nursing those late morning hangovers I tend to stop here to get the greasy food I need to feel better. I recommend this place if you like to eat. My favorite go to meal is a 2 piece dark meat with fries and okra. I’m a sucker for fried okra. There is a sign that says cash only, but they take cards with a small fee. I would like to try their fried rice, fried shrimp, etc. if you drive by and smell the food I promise you will want to stop. This will be your fried food heaven.
