With over 14 years and 800 events of experience, our specialty is keeping your San Diego wedding or party moving and your guests dancing. We customize our level of audience interaction to fit your ideal event.

At your event we will be the DJ & MC. We have high quality speakers, wireless mics, and dance floor lighting included. We have a 150,000 songs radio edited in every genre. We use a laptop setup at every event with 4G wireless internet to take live requests. We always carry backup equipment and are fully licensed & insured.

We do offer extras such as battery powered ceremony sound, photo booths, monograms, up-​lights, cake & table pinspots, slideshows, and even karaōke. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll find a way to make it happen!

History

Established in 2001.

Dancing DJ Productions was started by Will Chitwood in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In 2007 Will moved Dancing DJ Productions to San Diego, California.

Dancing DJ Productions now consists of DJ Will Chitwood as owner and head DJ plus British DJ Tom Parkin.

They do over 150 san diego weddings, corporate events, private parties, and military events yearly. Over the 14 years in business Dancing DJ Productions has done over 800 events!

Hi, I’m DJ Will, owner of and head DJ of Dancing DJ Productions. It all started in 2000 in Colorado Springs when a friend asked me to join his DJ business. It wasn’t long before I realized I loved DJing!

In 2001 I decided to start my own company, Dancing DJ Productions. In 2007 I decided to move to San Diego. I couldn’t resist the Southern California weather, which provided year round DJing opportunities.

2009 was a big year for me! That year I married my beautiful wife, Chea. Plus, I graduated with a B.A. in communications and a minor in music industry studies from Prescott College’s distance program. I also released an original electronic music album, Journey, as well.

Over the past 14 years of DJing & MCing, I’ve performed at every type of event. While I primarily serve the San Diego area, I’ve DJ’d as far away as Chicago and England.

My favorite part of DJing is bringing people joy! I just love seeing a packed dance floor and helping people have the time of their lives!

Will, of Dancing DJ Productions, was incredible at our wedding on June 12, 2016 at Paradise Point (outdoor ceremony) and BRICK (cocktail hour + reception). Not only did he read our crowd perfectly and kept the party going exactly as we desired, but he also was wonderful to work with. He put me at ease with his professionalism and knowledge of weddings (the music, the flow of the timeline, the speeches, etc.), and his enthusiasm for what he does was apparent the entire time. He went above and beyond for us with his preparedness and positive nature. My now husband and I really appreciated his flexibility, his ideas, and his energy/​vibe. Our crowd LOVED the party. PLUS, the value of Will’s services is unmatched. We did a TON of research to find the perfect DJ, and we were thrilled with our choice! There’s so many things to coordinate when planning a wedding, and Will was one piece I didn’t have to worry about. You can’t go wrong with Will! He blew us away.

«DJ Will is absolutely the nicest DJ you will ever meet. He really cares about each one of his clients and does everything possible to make your event great. He responds instantly to emails and texts, talks to you on Skype beforehand to go over details, and asks for your input and song requests.
DJ Will came early to set up for my June 5, 2016 wedding, he wore a great suit (with even a matching tie to match my color scheme), and he is a fantastic emcee! (I loved when he announced with great delight, „And now, for the very first time, I am proud to present Mr. and Mrs…“)
Dancing DJ Will also led some dances during the reception, including the „Wobble,“ which everyone enjoyed doing, and he played our requests throughout the night. His sound system was also great. My wedding was on the Navy Base, and DJ Will is already vetted, so that
made it easy to get him on base.
During the reception our friend who is a guitarist wanted to play a song for us, and DJ Will kindly give him a microphone to use. DJ Will is a real people-​person, and a pleasure to work with.
DJ Will takes great pride in his work and it shows. You are more than a customer to DJ Will — you are someone who he truly wants to make happy and to make your event the best ever. I have never met anyone who cares more about their clients’ happiness than Will does.

Dj Will did an awesome job at our wedding and reception. His online preparation site helped me organize more than just the music and helped me identify areas of the wedding and reception that needed music that I hadn’t realized. He made sure to have the music we requested, even if it wasn’t already in his repertoire, and he verified they were the right version we wanted. The lead up to our wedding day was great, and his service the day of was stellar! He took the lead to make things flow smoothly throughout the reception. He was flexible and accommodating to a small band we also included in our celebration. Oh right, and the dancing… there was lots of dancing! Which clearly was a result of DJ Will’s work! We had so much fun dancing up until the very end! Thank you Will for all you did to make our wedding amazing!

DJ Will Chitwood of Dancing DJ productions DJ at our wedding at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort and did a fantastic job. We skyped and talked with him a month and a week prior to our wedding to go over all of the little details. We had to skype and talk over the phone because we were in different states so it was very nice to be able to use these means to communicate. During these conversations he went over every little detail, even some that we did not think of, in order to make sure our wedding ran smooth. In addition to this, on his website he allows you to create a playlist of songs that you definitely want to hear, songs you may want to hear and songs you do not want to hear. The beauty of this feature is that it allows yourself to have control of what songs you want to be heard but even better, it gives Will many different options of what songs he could play. From this pool he can read the crowd and end certain songs earlier and play more songs in a certain genre to make sure the crowd is happy. Because that is the number one job of the DJ is to read the crowd and play songs according to the crowd, which he did an amazing job at. In addition he was the MC for our wedding and he did a fantastic job of keeping our special night on time in the beginning with speeches so we can relax and dance for the rest of the night. I would definitely recommend Dancing DJ productions to anyone for their wedding.

Hiring DJ Will was one of the most stress-​free parts of planning our wedding. He was organized and professional, easy to work with, and very responsive. We appreciated that he had the experience and flexibility to handle the quirks of any wedding, and was more than capable of executing our vision. We had no issues using his website where you can enter songs and preferences for each part of the wedding day. If he doesn’t have the song or version you want, he will happily find and download it. On the day of, he pulled off everything exactly as we had planned, while also subtly working with our coordinator to smooth over bumps in our schedule like when the toasts went long. No one even noticed! We also rented his photobooth, which our guests loved — it was a great deal and came with everything including backdrop, fun props, and guestbook. DJ Will even helped my husband serenade me, helping to test several versions of the background track and getting the timing just right at the wedding — a total surprise for everyone, especially me! For the dancing portion of the evening, he worked hard to get our guests on the dance floor, reacting to what people seemed to enjoy while getting in our requests. Overall, DJ Will was fantastic and we highly recommend him!

I cannot say enough great things about DJ Tom! We hired him to take care of the entertainment for our beach wedding at Camp Pendleton and he went over and beyond. From the early stages of planning to the end of the wedding night Tom was amazing. I really appreciate that he was in constant communication with us and answered any questions we had, which made planning a wedding so easy. We had several last minute changes during the wedding and he was so accommodating. Our guests had so much fun. As an entertainment manager in the nightclub business, Tom is so professional and a must to book for your event! Thank you DJ Tom!

We hired DJ Tom for our wedding at the Bahia and he did a great job. He has a great personality and took time to get to know what we wanted for our wedding. The ceremony music flowed perfectly and we liked all the details we were able to customize. We were not pressured to upsell on services we were not interested in. All of our guests had a great time and he kept the party dancing until it was closing time. We definitely recommend him and are grateful for him making our special day even better.

Tom DJ’d our reception at Marina Village in March. We were very happy with him and would hire him again! He got a lot of guests up and dancing on the dance floor… He was professional and courteous in all communications leading up to the wedding, as well as at the reception. His British dialect and personality certainly add a touch of class, too! He is good at what he does, and was very knowledgeable and helpful when we needed some song selection tips. He sticks to anything the couple requests and prefers, while also gauging guest interaction & engagement. We loved that he led dances for our guests (although that part is optional). Highly recommended!

DJ WILL is the BEST! Guest of the wedding still are talking about DJ WILL and how good he was. He truly made our wedding fun and enjoyable we had so much fun. He truly is the best at what he does. He listens to the guests and plays what they want to hear he mixes the music perfectly and is able to read the crowd very well. We are very pleased with him and if your looking for an excellent DJ look no further than DJ Will you will not be disappointed at all and feel relieved in his care he really took care of everything! DJ Will did a great job at our wedding reception on March 5, 2016 at San Diego Woman’s Club!!! When we booked a DJ, we were looking for someone who would be fun, but not cheesy, and who would be able to play music that appealed to all our guests. We have quite a few family members who hail from Mexico and were very interested in hearing Salsa and Spanish-​language music. DJ Will was very accommodating of all of our guests. He took all our requests, and played every single one! He did not have a lot of the Spanish-​language music in his database, but downloaded it for us and played it for our guests. He also played all of our favorites from our college days, and did a great job hosting and MC’ing the night.
In addition to DJ and MC work, DJ Will is also extremely talented with lighting! We used him for all of our lighting needs, including uplighting, a monogram light, and dance floor lighting. The lighting was a very important detail to my husband. He really wanted to create a fun, party atmosphere with the lighting, and DJ Will definitely delivered!
DJ Will is very responsive and takes care of his clients. He wants to make your event the best it can possibly be. We loved working with DJ Will and highly recommend him! :)

Will was awesome. When we were looking for a DJ, Will was one of the top searches on WeddingWire and there is a reason why. We asked him to be highly involved in essentially «hosting» the night and he was awesome. He did a great job of moving from one part of the event to the next. His planning was great. He called us 2 weeks to double check our list and talk about any additions we would like to make to our list and the flow of the evening. His website was very simple and easy to follow and create an individualized list of songs. His attitude and personality was a perfect fit for our fun, laid back wedding. All of this was great, and he did an awesome job at getting people on the dance floor and playing songs that all of us enjoyed. Our guests were thrilled with our music and atmosphere.

DJ Will is THE BEST! DJ Will kept my Baby Shower lively and going. All of my guests were so impressed with him!
When my husband and I were looking for a DJ few months before my baby shower, we did a couple of over the phone DJ interviews, only DJ Will truly impressed us.
DJ Will was very professional, few days before my baby shower he contacted me to coordinate the games for my shower, he shared his thoughts and ideas and I love his hula hoop contest.

DJ Will was the easiest vendor to communicate with while wedding planning, and when you’re planning a wedding on your own, that makes all the difference in the world! He was so prompt and helpful in his responses, and also very kind.
He provides an online portal for choosing songs, which made the whole process a breeze. You’re able to add notes specifying what certain songs will be used for (bride & groom entrance, first dance, cake cutting, etc).
I also really liked his suggestions for guest participation, such as allowing song requests from our guests, leading a few dances and inviting couples married for «x» amount of time onto the dance floor. He truly wants to tailor his service to meet your wants and needs, and isn’t pushy at all, like some vendors can be.
The flow of events and timing of music was seamless. And though it took a short while for our small guest count to get dancing, DJ Will managed to get the party started and got everyone out of their shells! We had the greatest time.
We also chose the uplighting that he offers for the reception room. It really added a lovely ambiance to the room, and we’re so glad we chose to purchase that in addition to his DJ service.
Needless to say, we were very happy with Will and would certainly recommend him!

I met Will at a Bridal Bazaar about a year before my Wedding — I’d seen his website and had been looking forward to meeting him based on all of the positive reviews. I can say, without question, that all of those reviews are dead on.
Will ran the show for our July 2015 wedding and we couldn’t have been happier with the results. He handled our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception — the sound was great — the music and transitions were on point — he made sure to be exactly what WE wanted and was a major part of making our event so perfect.
I would recommend Will and Dancing DJ Productions in a heartbeat — he’s beyond organized, has an incredible song catalog and was an absolute joy to work with. You can’t go wrong hiring him for your event.

We just had our a wedding a couple weeks ago and my wife and I are so happy we chose Will as our DJ! From first contact, through set up, to wedding coordination and timing during the reception and ceremony, Will was absolutely amazing to work with! He sat down and helped with us on our list of songs (which was HUGE), talked us through the special songs and events (anniversary dance, garter toss, intros, etc.), was really easy to get a hold of leading up to the wedding for any changes we had, and did an awesome job of keeping us on schedule at our wedding, as we did not have a wedding coordinator. He made the night flow smoothly with timing cues, great music (he played all of our song choices) along with some additional tunes that kept people on the dance floor all night. And at the end of our evening when we got on our sailboat for our big send off, he gathered everyone near the dock and had them wave goodbye to us so that it would be memorable for everyone!
Will takes his time to make sure every detail is addressed, all while making sure you don’t have to worry about the specifics (unless you really want to!) I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking into a DJ for their wedding, he is incredibly well prepared, willing to make adjustments, and overall knows how to run a good party!
