I followed my hairdresser, Becca, here because I have been going to her for years and she is amazing! She always listens to what I have to say and then applies her own expertise, leaving me so happy! She is so sweet and great to talk to, and very talented and professional. Dapper Dolly is also a really cute salon, I look forward to my appointments with Becca here.

Emilie did my hair and makeup for my wedding a few weeks ago in San Diego. She did a wonderful job! I did the trial a few months earlier and she really took the time to understand what I was looking for. We made a few adjustments from the trial to the day of and she made sure to do it exactly how we discussed, I’ve never looked better! Loved the airbrush makeup, stayed all night. The lashes were great also. My hair was a pretty complex up do and it stayed all night. I would definitely recommend her!

Love this place. Really relaxing atmosphere with comfortable styling chairs, and lay-​down shampoo chairs!

Let me begin with I RARELY write bad reviews (take a look at my past reviews), as I tend to be generous and give businesses the benefit of the doubt. My hubby fellow Unilocaler Johnathan S. called 2 two weeks ago to book my hair and makeup appointment for a wedding we were attending at Paradise Point. He said Emilie was very cordial on the phone, but disorganized as she was not in her store and trying to multitask while viewing her planner on her phone. I commend small business owners for continuing to work outside of office hours and truly promoting your business, but please be organized about it. He relayed to me that my appointment was at 2 o’clock, and I should be getting an email reminder for the confirmation. Awesome! Well needless to say I did not get any email confirmation so I emailed her at 11:55 a.m. Missed a call from her at 12:46 and a text at 12:55 saying my appointment was at noon. Had I gotten that appointment confirmation I definitely would have rearranged our schedules to be there at that time, and I should have called yesterday to confirm but I was expecting that email. I get it, miscommunications happen all the time, but there was nothing but sorry can’t see you. Now I am left high and dry with no makeup and no ability to do my hair for the wedding where my hubby is the best man. 1 star for she seemed nice on the phone.

I’ve been going to Emilee for the past five years, and cannot say enough wonderful things about her! I have total and complete trust in her (amazing) skills! She has done a wonderful job w/​color and cuts, I’ve gone from long, to bob, to long again… with my hair looking amazing at every stage! She also did my makeup and hair for my wedding, absolutely stunning! I have sent tons of friends (and even my boss!) to her, and all have been extremely happy w/​her. Go see her, you will NOT regret it!

Emilie is absolutely amazing. I just don’t think I could ever find better. I was first introduced when I attempted to die my hair blonde and it turned green. My sister had an appointment that day for her bridal make up trial so I decided to go with her to see if her jack of all trades a make up artist could fix me. Sure enough she did it– for basically no cost. I was so impressed with her flexibility an effort to make me look like a person again I decided to keep coming back. I have gone long short red brown black blonde highlighted low lighted — you name it — since.
Not only can I say she did a phenomenal job on my sisters wedding make up and all of the bridesmaids make up… But she has never failed me when it comes to my hair which most people in my life in this field have. I will never ever ever ever go to anybody else. And when it comes time she will be doing my make up at my wedding as well :-)

I had a Great Gatsby Gala and wanted my hair and make-​up done professionally. I was able to get an appointment with Hayde. I’m so glad I found this place! It’s kind of tucked away in Point Loma but their salon space is so cute, private and parking is easy. Hayde took her time and did a fabulous job on both my hair and make-​up. She clearly has a passion for what she does and made me feel very at ease. I explained the theme of the event and she made some great suggestions for styling my hair and colors for my make-​up. I received so many compliments that evening — especially on my eye make-​up. Hayde really did a great job. I look forward to returning!

I was referred to Emilie for my wedding hair and make up by our wedding photographer and he was spot on! Her pricing is comparable and she really knows what she is doing. I was able to schedule my makeup trial for the same day as my engagement photos and my hair trial the same day as my final dress fitting. Her timing and availability were perfect. The day of my wedding she showed up on time with her assistant and was able to get my, my mother’s, and maid of honor’s hair and make up done to our satisfaction with time to spare. I have since been back for two haircuts and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair! Plus she’s a total sweetheart!

I had Emilie do my hair and makeup for my wedding on June 15, and she did an AMAZING job! I also asked her to cover up my tattoos for the wedding… and she did a great job.
She is also one of the sweetest people I have met. She is honestly a joy to have on a day as special as your wedding day.

A special occasion was approaching and I needed someone to spruce up my locks. After reading all the reviews I was feeling confident. Emily is very very nice but wow can u say over priced and before I even got to my event my booby pins were falling out left and right. Not a comfortable feeling when all you want is to feel and look your best. Just frustrating.

I contacted Emilie to do my makeup for my wedding. I went in for my trial and I was so excited for the real thing. I like that she did a full trial and knew what I wanted when I said natural, old hollywood. The fact that she uses the trial cost towards the over-​all cost was fantastic and not as common among her competitors as I would have expected!
On the day of my wedding she arrived early, brought her own chair for me to sit in and was so organized and calm. She is an easy person to talk to and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I had myself and my groom airbrushed and I think that I got more compliments about my makeup than my dress! The pictures didn’t even need editing, she made me look flawless and gave me the lipstick she used for touchups throughout the reception (which I promptly put one of my bridesmaids in charge of). I got the eyelashes put on too, at first I was skeptical of them but she recommended them and I trusted her. Definitely do the lashes, they made me look amazing in the pictures and in person.
She takes credit, cash or check and can run your card right on-​site with her phone (talk about efficient)!
I highly recommend her, she is absolutely worth every penny on your wedding day or for whatever event you are having.

Just got married in San Diego and had Emilie do the make-​up for my mom and me. Not only is she a very skilled artist, but she is also a joy to be around. I went in for a trial the day before. During the trial, she customized my look exactly how I wanted so it came out flawlessly. I told her that I wanted a fresh, clean, romantic with an old Hollywood vintage twist and she delivered. She was also very sweet with my mom who is a bit shy about speaking English. Her rates are also VERY reasonable in comparison to some other artists in San Diego. Oh and did I mention that I only got to meet Emilie the day before the wedding because I am not from San Diego? Anyway, if you are planning the wedding from far away or if you are a local, Emilie is amaaazing! She also always emailed me back within the same day when I had any questions, which is not something I can say for the rest of the businesses I dealt with during wedding planning.

Emilie is amazing! She did the makeup for for my daughter, her bridesmaids and myself this past weekend. She listened to each and every one of our requests and completed our looks as we requested. I never wear makeup, so I really wanted a natural look and I just could not have been happier. Along with being talented, she is just so much fun to have in the room. She added to the fun of an already amazing day. Thanks Emilie!

I got a gift certificate for Making Faces by Emilie from a friend for my birthday. Naturally I turned to Unilocal to confirm that she was not some random beezy who would give me ginger highlights and a Lloyd Christmas style bowl cut. Her reviews seemed legit so I made an appointment… and I’m glad I did.
The business: She matched partial highlights by my regular stylist perfectly, and frankly probably improved the color. She asked all the right questions and was super efficient. Took like an hour less than my regular stylist takes, which is great when you are averse to having your ass in a chair for 3 hours looking at pictures of Jessica Simpson eating doughnuts in People magazine. Also touched up my cut with nice layers.
The lady behind it: Emilie is super sweet. She has pink bangs which basically sold me immediately. Also she shares my affinity for bright colors, which is apparent in her cute little space. She actually made a sign out of beads that is legit! That is dedication right there. I would have, like, a drawing in crayon on scrap paper. Well done sister. She also does makeup… she did Kiefer Sutherland’s makeup once when he had a black eye (doing jack bauer things, duh). She says he smelled like cigarettes to which I say who the eff cares, did you SEE the Lost Boys? Since she once touched Kiefer’s face and then touched my hair, I figure I got some free magic with the new hair do… WINNING.

Emilie did such a great job on my hair! I bought a Living Social coupon that she offered and I was pleasantly surprised by my haircut and highlights. I’ve never had highlights in my brunette hair before and Emilie mixed a color that went great with my coloring (not to blond so they look pretty natural). I’ve received tons of compliments on my hair since it was colored! Also, Emilie talked me out of bangs based, thank god! I’m a pretty low maintenance girl and after Emilie asked me about my styling routine, she determined the best cut for me! If you are looking for a really nice/​cool girl to cut/​color your hair and give you styling advice, Emilie is a great option!

I agree with the other reviews… Emilie did a great job on my hair, her little space is totally cute and she is very personable. I really appreciated that she quickly responded to emails and I was able to set up my appt without actually having to pick up the phone! I may even use her for my upcoming wedding! I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist.

Emilie is the BOMB! Great service, great personality, just a beautiful women all around and she can cut hair too! I have also employed her as a Makeup Artist on numerous times for photo shoots and events. Emilie has been perfect as a referral to other business clients and they have called me back raving about her services.
I recommend you make an appointment to see her at C13 Salon. I guarantee an incredible scalp massage if she washes your hair! :)
