About me: A bad review from me is a result of an experience so bad that I’m never going back. However, I won’t write a good review unless I’ve had multiple dealings with a business. I’ve had several dealings with David Levi & Sons over the past year, and I will not ever be going anywhere else… for any reason. So GO! just GO HERE!

David is the best! He’s extremely personable and knowledgable in his craft. I first stopped in with the intent to get rid of some old jewelry (you know. one stud here & there. since the other one was nowhere to be found, pendants, rings, etc). What I didn’t expect was to learn the intricacies of my own jewelry! He gave me a quote, wrote out a check, we exchanged goods for goods.
Looking back, what I should have done was leave right then and there… but did I? No. Sure didn’t. I started «window shopping.» It was all over after I saw a pair of diamond studs. His staff was so nice, offered to take the earrings out of the glass display — you know– assisting me with the whole «window shopping» excursion. By now I am sure you’ve guessed that my original plan to walk away with cash for old jewelry clearly didn’t happen. I took a detour. hard left you might say. It really is a shame that I lack self control. but that criticism quickly gets dismissed after I admire my darling new studs.

Was looking for a Jeweler I could take my wedding and engagement rings in to get resized and soldered together due to them both rotating so much. Everyone there was so nice, the price was great and they said they would have it done just a few hours later. Picked them up and they look great! I will definitely be back for any jewelry needs in the future!

Just went in there to get my watch fixed and ended up doing some great business with them. They bought some of my unwanted jewelry for a very fair price! Saved me a lot of hassle of putting it up and dealing with EBAY. They ended up fixing my watch for free as well as cleaning my engagement ring! I will be back to design my fiancé’s ring and will definitely think of them for any business in the future! The staff was excellent! thank you!

If anyone knows my girlfriend she is one of the pickiest girls when it comes to jewelry.
I was introduced to David by a friend and I could not have been happier to have met him. First of all he is very laid back. Being a «guys guys» I have no clue on what to do when it comes to jewelry but I wanted to get my girlfriend some diamond earrings for Christmas.
After going to many mall locations I finally decided on customizing the diamond earrings for my girlfriend. David went over everything on the diamonds and made the process very painless.
Only a week later he presented me with the perfect pair of diamond earrings! My girlfriend couldn’t be happier! The earrings sparkle and fit her perfectly!

This review is deplorably late, but it would be unfair to not return the care, kindness, and generosity my fiancé and I received in David’s shop. They spent time to know what we were interested in and together my partner and the remarkable sales woman (I hate that I cannot remember her name, in March 2016 it will be a year but she was lovely) and they found the most elegant, crystal clear engagement ring along with a band for a price that astonished me. I thought they would arrest us on our way out for burglary!
When a friend mentions anything about jewelry, I stop them mid sentence and I say David Levi and Sons is the place to go; not just for certain pieces but anything. They buy, sell, re-​sell the selection is impressive albeit slightly overwhelming but the treasure you are looking for will emerge. Our dear friend is going to pop the question this year, he told us a few places he wanted to look we told him the only place he needs to look is David. We’ll be seeing you soon. Plus mama needs a new pair of earrings.

My fiancé and I bought our wedding bands here a few months ago, and I can’t say enough good things about this team. To start, we had an idea in our head of what we wanted: a tree bark-​like design etched into the bands. David said to simply email him pictures similar to what we were looking for and they would custom design ours. It was that simple. Shortly after he presented wax models for us to okay, and then the final product. Price was great. Mine needed resizing which they did immediately without question. They also will give a complimentary shining to your rings whenever you’d like.
They really make sure that you are 100% happy with your product and will do anything they can help. Great experience, I highly recommend! :)

I have done business with David twice and each time I was extremely happy with the outcome.
The first time I was looking for some nice diamond stud earrings. David helped me select 2 matching diamonds and I picked the setting and also added a backing called «la pousette» which makes them much safer so they don’t fall off. The quality and price cannot be beat! I am very happy with how they turned out and get compliments on them all the time.
The second time I actually was interested in selling back a couple luxury watches (Breitling & Cartier). David offered me a very good price to buy them back and this saved me the hassle of trying to list them myself on eBay or craigslist.
He is very honest and works quickly without sacrificing quality. I would recommend David Levi & Sons Jewelers for anyone looking for some beautiful jewelry!

I had to get 2 batteries replaced and a new Ted Baker watch sized and David was super friendly in assisting and was able to accomplish the job within the next day!
His office is easily located near the Andaz hotel and there are plenty of street & paid parking stations around the corner.

All I can say is WOW! I came in looking to have my engagement ring prongs redone. The diamond always sat too high for me. After going to two stores in San Diego and being turned away, David was honest and said it «could be done.» I asked him about a couple of other tweaks which he recommended I not do because it would jeopardize the rings integrity, but I went ahead and had my prongs redone. The ring was done the same day and he also redipped and polished it. So much light enters the diamond now! I can’t say enough about the customer service and workmanship! Take a look for yourself with the pics I took. I also had a couple watch batteries replaced with him and sold a diamond we had. His pricing was by far the best. Thanks David! You have a customer for life!

I was selling a ring I bought years ago. It’s been collecting dust in a drawer for years and it was time to get rid of it as I had no need for it. I arrived about 15 minutes before they opened so I decided to check out how much San Diego Jewelry Buyers across the street would buy the ring for. It didn’t even compare to what David & Sons paid me. If you want to get the most $$$ for your jewelry you must sell here.
Service was very quick. They cut me a check within 5 minutes of walking in.

After learning that my fiancé went EVERYWHERE in SD looking for the perfect stone, he walked into David Levi and Sons and looked no more. David and his team went above and beyond helping my fiancé custom make my engagement ring. I have VERY small fingers (size 3) and they took the time to make a custom band to fit my midget sized hands, haha. The ring is stunning. Since then, I have gone back to help craft my wedding band and look forward to making the order soon. I highly recommend them for their customer service, speed at which they can make orders, and overall price and quality of their stones. We felt we got a great price,
Tip going in: DO your homework boys (or girls). The more you are educated on diamonds, the better off you’ll be!

David and Nancy were extremely helpful in finding an opal from my dad to my mom for her 60^th birthday! David pulled out 4 beautiful opals — 2 oval and 2 tear-​drop shaped opals — and showed which ones he thought were the best quality with the nicest color. After picking a stone, Nancy escorted us up to 2 separate suites to find a mount and then to get the opal set in the mount. He gave us a very reasonable price for the stone and gave the mount to us at cost. Both David and Nancy were friendly, offered expert advice but with no pressure, and went out of their way to help! I was very impressed!

My fiancé and I went in to David Levi to shop for an antique engagement ring, fully prepared for a long evening of shopping from store to store. David greeted us as we came in, and really listened to our requests: antique, not too flashy, but special. During the process, we found out his family is from Iran, and my fiancé is from Iran, so that was a really cool coincidence.
After trying on maybe a dozen rings, we happened upon one that fit me beautifully. It was made in the 1920’s, platinum, with a ¾ karat diamond. GORGEOUS. Plus, right in our price point. It looked amazing before getting cleaned up, but after a quick trip upstairs (all of their work is done on site, and so can be done instantly) it was perfect!
David really stands behind all of his pieces, and guarantees that if anything happens to you piece, bring it in and he’ll fix it. No need to buy any insurance, warantee, whatever. A woman came in as we were in the store, and David greeted her by name, and discussed the repairs for her ring with her, with no mention of extra cost or anything like that. He reassured me that if I needed the ring re-​sized at any time, I can just stop in, and it can be done very quickly.
David helped make our shopping trip even more special, and I LOVE my ring! Merci!

If there is one thing that I look for in a business, is there level of respect for every person that walks through their door. They did an absolutely amazing job of re-​sizing my more than a decade old wedding rings and I couldn’t be happier… in fact, I shed a tear after we walked out the door because the last time I saw it look this good was on our wedding day back in 2004. I literally just left their store and had to write a review as soon as I walked in the door to my condo… so happy I finally found the perfect jeweler to take all my precious pieces to.
This weekend marks our 11^th wedding anniversary so I was bummed when the weekend before, my finger decided to swell up like Violet Beauregarde in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. YOUCH!!! Holy blueberry finger! After using the dental floss trick to painfully get my ring off, I examined my ring and realized how my neglect had warped the shape and that I indeed needed to get it worked on ASAP! Since Diamond Gallery had gone out of business, I was on the hunt for a reputable jeweler who could fix my ring without robbing me blind. Enter David Levi & Sons.
From the moment we spoke on the phone with the owner David Levi, we knew we had approached the right jeweler. He quoted us a MUCH reasonable price for the re-​sizing of my rings vs. the ridiculously high $ 200 per re-​sizing of each ring from another jeweler… who shall remain anonymous. There is a parking lot and plenty of street parking if you arrive early when the business doors open so that’s a non-​issue. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Caitlyn who took a look at my rings and then by David who told us he could have our rings ready in a few hours. Sweet! We had lunch and toured Gaslamp while we waited. Let me just say when I saw the ring, I was blown away by how shiny and sparkly and perfectly round my rings were. They looked absolutely brand new!!! The photos I’m including do not justify how gorgeous they are… still stunned at what a wonderful job they did.
Another advantage to taking your business here is that they offer affordable prices on not only re-​sizing/​re-​shanking, polishing up tarnished jewelry and buffing out scratches, but they also do engraving, watch repair and can custom design jewelry to make your piece absolutely unique. I HIGHLY recommend you take your business here and avoid unscrupulous jewelers elsewhere. I understand if the rent is higher, that they have to charge more, but some of the quotes I received were highway robbery! Thank you David for understanding the needs of your customers, but for also guaranteeing that we will always return. His father (Eddie?) happened to stroll in and I got to meet him as well. Awesome family! I can see why they are still in business since the 20s… definitely quality in the workmanship and care they provide. You have customers for life!!!

David has made the ring process very easy for my fiancé and me. We decided to go the untraditional route and selected a Montana sapphire as our stone (see separate review on Gemfix) and went downstairs to have David set our stone. He is very professional and offers fair and reasonable prices compared to others around town. I originally had a simple solitaire setting, but «upgraded» to side diamonds recently (we’ve been engaged two years now) and we selected a wedding band also. I sent him pictures of the designs I wanted and he was able to recreate it perfectly. A plus was that I was able to trade in my old setting and get credit for the new one. The turnaround was quick, about one week for both the engagement ring and wedding band. My jaws dropped when he showed us the final product. I’m very happy with his work and would highly recommend him to anybody in the market for a ring.
A tip to those that are designing a custom ring, consider the overall look you want when you start the process. When we started researching wedding bands, I wanted a flush look but learned that the only way to achieve that with my original setting was to have a curved band… which isn’t my style. That’s the main reason we looked at changing the setting in the first place, the side diamonds were just a little extra.

Only about 8 days since the diamond was picked out and the ring was starting to get designed did David produce a beautiful ring for me.
David exceeded my expectations in how perfect the ring was. The diamonds were set very straight on both the engagement ring and the wedding band. I have heard of people complaining that their diamonds are a little crooked. Well trust me I inspected this thing to the nines to make sure it was perfect.
I was extremely worried in how the prongs would be like since I had to custom them. David and his team did a great job in making sure the prongs were at the exact angle I wanted them to be and thin as possible without compromising the security of the diamond.
It was a very pleasant experience because he not only let me look at the mold of the ring, but also let me look at the molds in the different stages of the ring before it was finally done. This way I was reassured multiple times that the ring would be up to my standards.
