I’ve had a knot in my left shoulder for weeks that traveled into my left arm, and it hurt to type or reach for anything with my left hand. Just an hour with Sabrina, doing her deep-​tissue magic, and I was substantially better.
The Dcompress set-​up is a little funky, like some have mentioned… not your typical spa, but for me, it’s better. Rather than a tiny little compartment of a room, where the massage therapist barely has room to move around, the room I was in was huge, and Sabrina had lots of room to maneuver. She was excellent — communicative, responsive and she made her personal mission to work out that knot, and then some. Very skilled, and very knowledgeable about human anatomy.
I would highly recommend Dcompress, and in particular, Sabrina. Go for the massage, come back for the therapy!

I rarely ever write a review unless I had 5 star service or the unfortunate 1 start service. My girlfriend and I went for an 8 mile hike the morning before our massage and we were beat. We walked into Dcompress and the personality of the ladies working their completely changed our attitude. It started with a little conversation prior to our couples massage. We told them we were from Chicago and they asked about some spots to eat, see, etc. if one were to visit Chicago. I gave them a list of places to go eat which they loved. We then walked into the room and explained to both of the therapist where our problem spots were. I explained to my therapist (Sabrina) that I like pressure in the 8 range on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the firmest pressure. I had yet to find a therapist that can give me an 8 and continue it throughout the entire session. As soon as Sabrina applied her hands to my back, I knew this was going to be one of the best massages I have ever received. This women has some guns on her and she’ll make sure you’re aware of that. If you’re new to massages, I (and Sabrina) would not recommend an 8. But if you get massages often, know your trouble spots, and explain them to her, she’ll take care of the rest. We felt great afterwards and the only thing that sucked about the experience is knowing that I wouldn’t get such a great massage until I returned to San Diego. When we went back to the counter to check out, the owner (who goes by D) left a 2 page list of recommended restaurants and bars in the San Diego area! Going above and beyond our expectations! We couldn’t believe. We took that list with us everywhere we went for the remainder of our trip. Thanks again ladies for such a great experience! Looking forward to coming back again.

Excellent! Jade did an amazing massage. I highly recommend this place. My neck shoulders snd lower back are always a mess due to my job. I feel SO much better. Taking the time to go is totally worth it.

The boyfriend and my anniversary was approaching and I wanted to get us a couples massage to help us enjoy our weekend together. I did tons of research because I wanted it to be a great experience for the both of us. Dcompress caught my eye because they had been rated by the Union Tribune as a best of San Diego multiple years. I also was intrigued by one of their services — a 2 hour Pink Floyd massage and aromatherapy experience! It sounds a little crazy, if a little cheesy, but I called and asked about it and decided to go for it.
We decided to take a ride service downtown because I didn’t want to stress about parking before or after a massage. I highly recommend going this route. When we arrived we filled out quick questionnaires and release forms and used their bathrooms (because 2 hours is a LONG time). The bathrooms are not attached and down a separate hallway, which is fine, but I do miss the convenience of using the bathroom before or after a massage session and not having to leave to do so.
We had Kelly and Kayla for our therapists. Prior to our massage we were given water, asked about any concerns or things we wanted to focus on, and asked if we wanted our tables heated. Yes!
The massage was amazing, well worth the money for the 2 hours to completely relax. The girls were professional, attentive, and always seemed to check up at the right moment to ask about additional pressure or adjustments. I really enjoyed the Pink Floyd instrumentals, and was glad I wasn’t more familiar with all of the songs played so I was still able to zone out. The aromatherapy was a great touch for me, but was lost on my boyfriend as he was suffering from allergies and couldn’t smell anything.
The one issue I had in the ENTIRE massage is that the Stone Brewing tasting room is DIRECTLY above the couples massage room, and people kept scraping their chairs on the floor. And you can hear every. single. chair movement. This maybe wasn’t the BEST location to put a massage and spa, but I think if you are in any of the other therapy rooms you won’t be disturbed.
That issue aside, my boyfriend and I agreed that this was a great treat for us and it was one splurge we could make again in the future. I am hoping we will be back!

Just had my first massage at Dcompress. Sabrina was wonderful as a masseuse. Attentive, strong, thoughtful. I needed a body massage to restore myself after a rough couple of weeks. I finished feeling completely relaxed, but somehow walked away with a much clearer head too. Thank you for the care. I will be back again and again. I highly recommend.

Just got another massage here today, love Nicole. She is knowledgeable, does an amazing job and cues off of your mood, ie chatty or nonchatty. I like their membership plan and I always feel so relaxed afterwards.

Enjoyed the Pink Floyd Experience today with my girlfriend. I would give 5 stars but my lower back didn’t feel like it got focused on, even though I did tell my masseuse about it in the beginning. But my shoulder, arms and legs feel really good.

Just moved from San Francisco bay area & after 6 yrs with the same masseuse, I was nervous to find a new one. I thought I’d have to try several places before finding someone strong & who could provide the same deep tissue that I’m used to getting monthly. I found my new masseuse on the 1^st try & couldn’t be more thrilled, especially since it’s only a 10 minute walk from home.

I’ve now had 4 or 5 sessions there with several different therapists. Each and every massage has been exactly what I needed. The location is serene & peaceful with some of the highest quality massage tables I’ve experienced. They even let you choose music to fit your mood & customize everything to my personal massage & relaxation goals.
I used to visit a few different massage/​spa locations around downtown but now Dcompress has won me over. I’m there once a week if I can make the time, and I love it. My wife and I are now members and we’re both very happy.
Be sure to ask about the great membership program. Highly highly highly recommended!

Tried to get something started here, but waited a week to see if the acupuncturist takes my insurance. I’m STILL waiting. And my back feels terrible :(.why did I wait so long to contact another place? Because I’m a loyal customer and because the ladies who were «helping» me seemed very sweet.
Anywho, I contacted another local acupuncturist and I received a message MINUTES later stating my insurance will be accepted. Set up an appt next day!
Sorry Dcompress Downtown, but your customer services is definitely not up to par, at least not based on my experience.

This place is the best. D. Boyle is the owner and a masseuse and is just wonderful. I have now scheduled a monthly 90 minute massage and even tried my first acupuncture. Pricing is very reasonable and all of the staff are just great.

If you want a perfect massage, come to Dcompress Downtown.
After my husband and I completed the intake forms, we discussed them in depth with D and Sabrina. They followed our discussion to a T.
My husband has a lot of sensitive areas. Sabrina was 100% respectful and because of that, my husband had the perfect massage. I explained to D the trouble spots I have because of a surgery I had long ago, and she worked on that area with amazing precision. I mean, I marked level, ‘8’ for pressure, and that’s exactly what I got.
I felt like a brand new person. They are also extremely knowledgeable about massage therapy. Like, they probably still do continuing education unlike a lot of people who are out here just giving massages.

It’s not cheap, but it’s totally worth it.

Yesterday I decided it was time to take my knots and inflammation to a pro after I spent the last 72 hours with a stiff neck and back/​neck swelling.
I’ve had quite a few massages in my time. I receive amateur massages 7 days a week as I am, without any doubt, the most rubbiest man alive — I absolutely love to be touched and rubbed, and I have a pretty giant body covered in slabs of dense muscle. Additionally, I’ve done the «hunt» for cheaper massage spots that don’t have reputations for human trafficking and table showers (aka germ cesspools). Even when I found a decent place who could massage me for 90 minutes at $ 60, they could not do anything to legitimately help my knots/​trouble areas.
Today I walked a few blocks to DCompress after speaking with Kelly who was very sweet and helpful. I showed up, filled out some paper work, and went to the room to get my massage. Before leaving to let me de-​robe, Kelly offered me an array of music choices, which included picking my own Pandora station. This is such a simple and easy thing for a massage spot to offer, but this is the first time I have had this benefit. I chose Justin Martin, which was fuckin money. I got to listen to Shiba San «Okay» while she worked the knots in my back — bliss.
Everything Kelly did to my body was fantastic and deliberate. It was clear Kelly not only had been trained properly, but she had lots of her own swag/​flare in her routine. I did not want to walk into a new place with a new massage therapist and book a 90 minute mystery — but knowing what I know now, I would have DEFINITELY signed up for 90 minutes. Kelly had the perfect combination of attributes I prefer in a great massage therapist: knowledgeable, nurturing, strong, delicate, and just enough playful chattiness.
I wrote this review, I signed up for a membership, and I feel considerably better today than I did before my massage yesterday. Needless to say, I will be returning and am excited to see Kelly again!

Dcompress is GREAT! My husband and I have been going to see D for about 6 years now and she is the best at what she does!
Their new space in the McClintock building is really beautiful — everything about it makes you feel warm and relaxed. If you are experiencing body pain that you need to work out these therapists are simply fantastic… this place is a must people.
I work in retail so I’m on my feet all day. I don’t know what I’d do without regular massages from D! She is genuine, caring, and an amazing therapist! Thanks D!

My wife found DCompress when they were at their old location. After a few massages she became a member and shortly after we were expecting a child and she continued with her membership getting pre-​natal massages. When it came time for her to stop having massages, I used her membership until she could get massages again. Suffice to say we have both been getting monthly massages for close to two years now! I don’t know how we went through life without these monthly massages!

Love, love, LOVE DCompress! I started going there when they were still at their old location at 540 3^rd Ave downtown and was super excited when I found out they were moving to Little Italy — insanely close to where I live, score! Their new space is in the downstairs of the historic McClintock building, and while the space is below ground, it’s actually a very warm, safe, womb-​y vibe — perfect for a massage.
Now about the actual massages… so far I’ve been to Kelly, D, and Nicole, and they’re all wonderful. Of course they each bring their own style/​techniques, and where I used to strictly stick to one particular therapist where I used to go, I like being able to mix it up with different therapists. They have an online booking system so it’s super easy to make an appointment, and they have appointments every single day of the week (by appointment only, btw, no walk-​ins). I also take advantage of their monthly membership program, which is a great deal. If you find the explanation on the website of what you’re getting for your $$ confusing (I did), just ask your therapist. She explained it simply and there was no sales pressure.
I highly recommend checking at DCompress! You won’t be sorry! :)

Thank you to all of the therapists at DCompress Downtown for all of your incredible bodywork! I write this as a massage therapist who has gotten massages all over the world. If you are experiencing pain, stress, or just want to pamper yourself go to DCompress for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. I have been going to this place for 4 years and will never stop.
One of the many things that make this place so unique is that the therapists ask all the right questions and then customize the session to your needs. I love that the sessions combine deep therapeutic massage with spa like pampering techniques. It really is the best of both worlds!

I’ve been going to DCompress Downtown for over 4 years. I’ve had massages all of my adult life and continue to indulge when on vacation, traveling etc. I have yet to find anyone better. D and her therapists are top notch. The best!!! I’ve had a massage from everyone there and it’s hard to pick a favorite. I LOVE the new location even though it’s a little farther for me to go — so worth it… a beautiful location. My fiancée and I are getting a couples massage for Valentines. Also, the addition of acupuncture is amazing service and Nicole will work with you and your insurance. All I can say is: 60 minutes is never enough! It’s so sad when it’s over :-(

LITERALLY PEOPLE, If you want a life changing massage experience, GO HERE NOW! D has magic in those hands! I do admit that I have cheated on her once or twice (post deployment surprise massage) but I always tell her about my infidelity as soon as I go back!
This place will have you coming back every week if it was possible. All the girls are great and really listen to your needs but D is my favorite. I have booked out MONTHS in advance and have even looked up her next available appointment as soon as I get back from deployment sometime in June. That is how good she is! She provides a welcoming environment to just melt your stresses away and sometimes you are a little sore (I call it good sore) because you just need to get those tight spots worked out. Oh and if you didn’t tell her about it, I guarantee she is going to find it. For some reason she always finds hidden knots I have in my shoulders and really gets then out.
So if you want to really want to treat yourself to one of the hands down BEST massage experiences you will ever have, stop reading this review and go and book your appointment NOW!

Well, I guess I’ll post it here too then. This *is* the location I went to.
I was searching for a massage place to go to on my weekend vacation, and this business came up highly rated here. So I booked an appointment, and headed in Saturday.
The new location is a secure building, which makes it tough to get down to see them (though this may just be a weekend thing, there are other businesses which were closed when I went in). I snuck in a side entrance, and went downstairs to them (it looks like they had just come up to the door to let me in as I was doing so). Parking in the adjacent garage is $ 4 for up to 3 hours, but if you have a big vehicle, you might have issues, the garage has a small and narrow entrance and ramps.
I had Sabrina as my therapist for a Deep Tissue massage. If you have any questions about «can they give me a firm massage?», just stop right now. I asked for it quite firm, and I ended up having to ask Sabrina to go a bit softer. She was extremely attentive to what my body needed, and the time went quite quickly (as all pleasurable activities seem to do).
I also had my choice of music, and it was right up my alley for my ears during the massage.
The 5 stars they earned from me are very well deserved.
