I come here maybe once every six months or so. I love it because it is always consistent. The level of fresh dishes prepared here and the range of flavor profiles offered is amazing. I love the fresh salad cold dishes that come out complimentary; normally one with cucumber and one with seaweed, but both delicious. I order different things each time but always stick with the staple of white rice that is sticky and delicious. I love one spicy dish; so far I have tried two different pork ones, a couple shrimp ones & a chicken one. Of all the spicy dishes my favorite to date had been the sliced pork with green beans & I like to add this purple(I want to say texture is a mix between mushroom & seaweed but I truly am not sure). Anyways today we found out they make these amazing looking Chinese doughnuts that I can’t wait to go back and try next time. Oh they looked so light and fluffy sitting on the table next to our. I always love Deedees for a good ladies brunch or dinner. Such a good vibe and amazing food!

I was looking for a good Szechuan restaurant and this place came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The ‘Fish Boiled in Hot Sauce” and the«Cumin Flavored Lamb» were both REALLY good. The first time I came here and ordered the Fish Boiled in Hot Sauce, it was decent but didn’t have a lot of mala(numbing hot/spicy). The second time I came here, I ordered it again but asked them to make it extra spicy and it was 10x better. With the ‘extra spicy’ order, it was perfect. The portions here are also very generous and the service is fairly quick. My only complaint is the location. The parking situation here is terrible so try to come during non-rush hours. The last time we were in the lot, people were double parking, which left a lot of people stuck in the parking lot. But despite that, I will definitely be back whenever I have cravings!

The name of this place is so deceiving. It’s a regular restaurant, not some tea and boba joint. Apparently it’s been around for years and I never noticed it! Lots of goodies here with Szechuan spices and garlic. We had the fish in a bowl(haha), garlic green beans, and tea smoked duck. They served us a free appetizer of seasoned cucumbers that are pretty tasty and light– kind of like a 1-plate banchan(Korean side dish). My favorite dish was the duck, and I would happily come back here just for that dish alone. The flavor was awesome, and it was amazing how the seasoning permeated through all of the meat, not just the outside. The skin was full of flavor, and nice and crispy, while the meat was tender. So aromatic. The green beans were good, kind of like the ones at Spicy City but cooked a little longer. The fish was garlicky and topped with chilies. I was worried it might be over the top spicy but it was actually pretty mild. I’d order it spicy next time for sure. There are photos on the walls of a lot of the dishes, but the servers are also helpful in giving advice on what to order. Service is fast and friendly, prices are reasonable, and everything comes out nice and hot. This was a nice new find!

DONOT go there if you’re looking for authentic sichuanese food. Had high expectations because their reviews were good but the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered dry pot mushrooms干锅杂菌, spicy tofu and beef豆花牛, and 泡椒腰花,腰花was not cleaned appropriately and the other two were just like what you would get in every other american-chinese place. Again not authentic.

This place is similar to every other Szechuan restaurant at Convoy(i.e. Spicy House and Spicy City). Food is decent and tasty, service is fast and efficient. The only slight difference is that the portions here are huge. Szechuan kind of spice is unique in a sense that it gives you a numb feeling in your mouth instead of pain. I can’t tolerate the painful kind of spicy but I can definitely do the numbness. So for those of you who think you can’t do spicy, don’t come to that conclusion until you try this kind of spicy!

Dede’s food is awesome. Really great sichuan style cuisine with generous portions and reasonable prices. I like spicy and they deliver it but not in an overwhelming way. Service can be spotty and the parking sucks but food is mmm mmm good.

A favorite on Convoy. Authentic Chinese food. Great customer service. Huge portions at decent prices and the food is delicious. I was a regular at Dumpling Inn for Years. I would drive down from Oceanside to San Diego nearly once a month to eat there. I was so disappointed when I moved back to town to discover while I was away everything had changed. The vibe and food have suffered due to the expansion. I had eaten at Dede’s on a recommendation from a Chinese coworker, and really enjoyed it. Now it is my go to on Convoy when I am craving Chinese. They are always serving little extra dishes while you wait for your main meal to arrive. There are always leftovers as the portions are enough for 2 – 3 people.

This place is the bomb. 1) great delivery service– prompt, friendly. 2) price is right. 3) most important– the food tastes like quality! Fresh! I actually am not a fan of Chinese food but this place does it right. I like their wonton soup, yum :) also their chopsticks are the smooth, round separated kind– always a good sign! try this place, you won’t regret it.

This place was amazing. Got our food delivered, took a little while but it was wort it. Got hot and sour wanton soup, Dan Dan noodles, Kung pao chicken and leek dumplings for $ 37 total. Bought this for two people and we have leftovers for another day or so. All the food tasted great! Will definitely be coming back here.

One of the best restaurant that you can go to for Chinese .if you want to try authentic Chinese food try dede. I practically go there 2 times a week . Some of the best dishes to try Boiled fish, lamb with scallions, fish in brown slice, deep fried chicken spicy, fish in picked pepper . The place is a heaven for eating flavorful Chinese food.

I absolutely love this restaurant! I’ve been here multiple times with family and it’s always exceeded our expectations. Basically everything you order always tastes great and portions are huge! Their service is good and the servers are nice and friendly. One time, when the store was closing up, they gave all the customers a free plate of cold side dishes. They also make an effort to make small talk and get to know you while taking orders. Parking is a bit tight and they don’t always use A/C(–1 star) so be prepared on a warmer day! The restaurant isn’t huge but it’s comfortable and spacious. Overall, come here for the food and you won’t be disappointed.

This is my favorite Szechuan restaurant in San Diego. Their boiled fish in hot sauce is so tasty and filling. Lots of nice soft pieces of fish with cabbage and minced garlic. Their fish in spicy garlic sauce is also tasty, and actually not spicy(if you can’t handle the heat). I always have leftovers because they don’t hold back on making sure you leave with your stomach and wallet content. Also, a big reason why I keep coming back is the service. Super friendly staff and the owner is very nice. I used to go to Spicy City, but the service is not the greatest and too many people go there so there’s always a wait. Plus, the dishes here tastes so much better.

Good Szechuan food! Portions are pretty big with very affordable prices! The family that owns/works at this restaurant is super friendly. I really like their food. You can order it to your liking. Usually Szechuan food is really oily but if you ask them to not put too much, they’ll gladly listen to you! CUMINLAMB — yum! Flavor reminds me of hot pot: D It comes with lots of sliced onions too! FRENCHBEEF — very tender beef with some jalapeños and lots of green bell peppers! It’s rare to find a place that doesn’t skimp on bell peppers. WHOLE(Sol) FISH — my parents really liked this dish… I personally didn’t care that much for the fish itself, but the potato that came with it was delicious. The sauce has the right amount of spice and flavor. I’ll definitely come back! Every dish we got was under $ 12. They charge $ 1/person for rice — tea is free of charge. Our bill came out to be $ 38 for 3 plates and 4-person rice.

Fuuuuuuuuuu. This place is fiyah(pronounced«fire» and slang for describing something dope and hot). This place is seriously HOT!!! They probably have an entire walk-in refrigerator dedicated to chili peppers in their kitchen because those puppies are used generously. Dede probably can’t even walk back there without wearing Walter White’s Hazmat suit. I LOL at people that tell me this food is ~too hot~ because these fools end up ~eating~ the chili peppers in the dish. Hey, white people, here’s a pro tip! You’re doing it wrong! You’re not supposed to eat the f*cking peppers! It’s for flavor! Here’s another pro tip: Szechuan is great for bulimics because good night, sweet butthole. If you like Spicy City then you’ll like Dede’s because you’ll find very similar dishes here. Although the cold dishes are a dollar more($ 7 vs $ 6) than at Spicy City, the menu offers a lot more. Not all of the dishes here are loaded with peppers and not all of them have foreign ingredients(ex: blood curd) so there is something here for everyone. In my experience here, the top fiyah dish to order is the DRYPOTPORKINTESTINES. They taste EXACTLY like salt n pepper wings except they’re better because you won’t look like a fat, disgusting slob while you eat them since you can just pop these tiny, crispy food angels in your mouth with chopsticks and they’re boneless. I hate to say this but I liked these tiny buttholes more than I liked the ones at Spicy City, buuuut the eggplant at Spicy City is better than the eggplant at Dede’s so there’s no real winner here. I’ve experienced good service here. Plus, the lady that was working here last night waited like a ninja for me to go to the bathroom so she could grope my husband’s muscles while I was gone. Didn’t bother me because that just means she has good taste too ;)

How many times have you heard…“I so wanted to like this place.” Well here it is again. I have several Unilocaling friends who have raved about this place. And as one of them said…“Meh. Not bad. Just not great.“ I ordered everything my friend who loved the place ordered. The Dan Dan Noodles… just ok, too dry and not enough flavor for me. The fried fish. Good flavor, but the batter was just too thick for me. I prefer Tea Garden’s salty and spicy fried fish and they are just a few doors down. My BF and I really over ordered knowing we would have a lot of leftovers and I just wanted to try everything I had heard about. We also ordered the Chinese Broccoli in Oyster sauce, which was quite tasty, but became very watery once the oyster sauce, which looked like it was just dumped on the top, seeped down into the veggies. We were looking forward most to the Cumin Lamb, which so many on here raved about. Really? I thought it really lacked flavor and we both did not taste any cumin in it. Disappointing. Now, we did NOT order anything spicy because the BF doesn’t like that. I did add the flaky pepper hot stuff to things and that helped, but that shouldn’t be the focus for flavor. I did love the female cook who came out to say some funny stuff to us. She put down a plate of pickled veggies and asked if we were married, because she said, this dish was only for married people and then she jokingly nudged my arm. I thought that was funny, since we rarely see anything resembling any joviality from any staff anywhere on Convoy. Would I go back? Probably not. I am looking forward to going back to the Dumpling Inn which finally expanded after all this time and the food there rocks.

I really like this place. When I was in college, I had a lot of Chinese friends who were from Beijing and Shanghai who brought me here probably every other week. These girls were picky eaters but they loved this place. It’s a mom&pop shop that welcomes anyone and everyone. They have their specials for the day and they have the side dishes they serve for extra in the front. I love their cumin lamb; had it at other szechuan places and they really can’t compete with DeDe’s. My brother who doesn’t even like lamb ate all of my leftover lamb. Their whole fish in pickled pepper is a must get. The potatoes in there taste like potato chips just not with the crispy texture. The fish itself is thin and easy to eat; it’s fried but comes off the bone. I love their rice. I don’t know what it is. I don’t usually eat rice unless it’s a rice dish like curry but this place has yummy smelling/tasting rice… I like their Chinese broccoli in the garlic sauce. They cut the stems small so it’s bite size. The French beef is all right. They kind of put more bell peppers than meat but whatever, I like the taste. The house special chicken bone with salt and pepper is sooo goooood. My brother who said he didn’t want to eat it kept going at it. The bf liked it but it was too much work for not enough chicken hahah. For side dishes, I always have to have the cucumber. It’s refreshing and has just enough flavor. The spicy beef slices are a must. And the pig ears. I would say it’s an acquired taste. well. it doesnt really taste like anything. haha
