Deep Eddy Vodka Hideaway

Went to Deep Eddy’s Vodka Hideaway at Petco Park this evening during the game. I am not at all impressed with the place. Firstly, when entering, it looks like it could be a pretty cool joint — it’s located in left field terrace, with an inside seating area, bar searing along with window overlooking the field. There are also three sections of outside seating with pub tables adjacent to the stadium seats.
When we entered, everyone was pushed up against the window seating, and all of the outside tables were taken. Of course, we were aware there may not be seating right away, but most of the tables were occupied by people who had finished eating and were not drinking or ordering either. When asking about their seating policy, the waiter told us it was open seating and they don’t rotate out occasionally for new patrons.
We sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before getting up to find a menu ourselves. As soon as we did, the waiter came to us and asked, «Do you know what you want?» He was clearly flustered and not in the most professional of ways — no need to be rude.
We asked for some waters while we looked at the menu, and he brought us two of the smallest plastic cups of ice with barely any water. The menu was very overpriced for sushi (which did look good by the plates we saw sitting on the sushi bar while we were waiting), but we decided to leave because of the unlikeable nature of the waiter and the blasé attitude toward people who actually were looking to order food, and not just hang out to watch the game from their location.
If this was my establishment, I would be sure to hire people who were very much interested in giving good customer service. Sorry Deep Eddy’s Vodka Hideaway, there are much better places to patronize at Petco Park than this.

Deep Eddy Vodka will soon be debuting at Petco Park as the Official Craft Vodka of the San Diego Padres. A three-​year sponsorship agreemen was recently signed that will bring Deep Eddy’s premium vodkas, made with the «laid-​back spirit of Austin, Texas,» to baseball fans this season. It will join the various craft beers, wines and fancy tequilas now being sold at the Ballpark.
While down at Petco Park recently, I noticed the Deep Eddy Vodka Hideaway, which will be a branded seating area and bar that will be open soon to all fans and is located in the Park’s left field corner terrace. According to the Deep Eddy Wikipedia page, «Deep Eddy Vodka Distillery is a distillery located in north Austin, Texas that currently manufactures vodka products made of south Texas corn using continuous distillation in a column still.» The vodka is named after the historic landmark Deep Eddy Pool in Austin which is the oldest spring fed swimming pool in Texas. I had to deduct 1 Unilocal STAR for the thought of Deep Eddy using the «oldest spring fed swimming pool water» that has Texans swimming in it for their fancy vodka.
