I’ve been working on a project that keeps me coming back to Dixieline for parts and advice and help.
They are most helpful when you’re looking to solve a problem. Store representatives are always pleasant and friendly, eager to help.
That’s why I patronize Dixieline instead of the home supply behemoth across the street.

Consistently the worst store to do business with in SD. I’ve tried them multiple times over the years, as a contractor, and they are slow, disorganized, surly, complicated, don’t return calls, and worst. I hate that this established company is so miserable so consistently. I don’t know who is in charge. I think they don’t know that H Depot is across the street. Wow.

Dixieline is actually a customer of mine who sells products for the company I work for. The staff of course is always welcoming, friendly to myself and their customers that come into their store.
The last few weekends I’ve been in twice as an actual «customer» and not as a manufacturers rep, it’s been a completely different experience and a wonderful one to say the least! Kyle has helped me both times and he was able to help me with 2 problems I was having at home. He directed me to the right products and based on his excellent advice and thorough instructions, I was able to do the work by myself when I got home.
I’ve been to every Dixieline location in San Diego as they are a customer of mine but with this location being so close to home and their staff being so friendly, helpful and thorough, I’m happy to call it my local store!

Terrible customer service. They charged our company card in error and when I call to dispute the charge they said they could not help me. The old man that helped me said that I would need to speak to my bank to help me. I don’t recommend them at all. They don’t deserve any stars, but Unilocal forces you to leave at least one star to post a review. Yikes!

I loved this store. Really helpful and knowledgeable staff, unlike the do it yourself big box retailers. Deep selection of products at fair prices.

Went in to purchase a screen door. We spent approximately 10 minutes wandering around then store without a single acknowledgement from any employee. We left discussing how inferior the customer service is compared to both Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Spent 15 minutes walking through store. Very clean. Well lit. Looking to purchase some doors.
I tried to find an employee that would make eye contact with me or ask me if I needed help. There were none.
I left the store. Home Depot or Lowe’s from now on.

This Dixieline store in Sports Arena Boulevard has absolutely no sense of customer care and service. I went over there on Sunday 8÷2÷14 to return some items that I had purchased from Dixieline. From the moment the office manager noticed that I am returning merchandize, he became so rude and started to give me the run around. When I insisted on getting the returns done he threatened to call the cops!!! this store manager was totally hostile, rude, and uncooperative.
I then went to the store in Convoy. The man over there was very polite and did the same return quickly.
I hope this company will retrain the manager in Sports Arena Boulevard on better customer care, I believe his name is Rodrigo Navarate.

Special ordered a high-​end three panel door to the tune of $ 5K. Sat with the sales guy, who made double sure we knew what we were ordering, printed out the order form, had us sign it and pay, only to find out then it was going to take 6 weeks for delivery. Very inconvenient, but that’s not why the one star.
When this door finally arrived, two days later than the six weeks quoted, (leaving us with a very put out framer who we had hired to install it) it was delivered and set on our front lawn near the gate through which our installer would carry it. When we opened the framing package, we realized they delivered the wrong frame and wrong door. We double checked our paperwork, and saw it was for the CORRECT door, and we immediately called Dixieline.
Took them a day to even return our calls, then they said they’d come get it NEXT WEEK, and would order the correct one, which could take up to two more weeks! Our room addition is done, we have a huge gaping hole in the place of our large three panel glass door, and will have to wait weeks for this to be fixed!
We have told Dixieline that we want that door off our lawn, NOW! NOT after our grass is dried and ruined. We turned off our sprinklers so it wouldn’t turn the packaging into a giant pile of pulp, but seriously, must we ruin our lawn because they can’t hire a couple of guys and a pickup truck to come fix their mistake?!
It took multiple calls to Dixieline to even get someone to return our calls, and it wasn’t until my husband sufficiently ranted that the manager, who is apparently on vacation (doesn’t anyone fill in while he’s away?!), sent us an email apology and said they would try their best, and they’ll pay for installation of the correct one when it eventually arrives. But, as of now, four days later, that $ 5K door and frame are still sitting on our front lawn.
We don’t want to be responsible for a $ 5K door sitting out side on our front lawn!!!
We’re still waiting for returned calls, but aren’t hopeful at this point one will be forthcoming. We have sent emails, left messages, but no returned calls and no resolution.
At one point, they tried to blame my husband for the mistake. Their reason: when he first came by the store to look at these doors, he talked to a guy named Steve who gave him a quote for the door. Later my husband and i stopped in so i, too could see this wonder door. At that point we decided to order it. So «Steve» wrote it up and printed it out. At that point, before we signed, we noticed the true cost was hundreds more than his original quote. He «forgot» to include shipping charges. So we wanted more time to think about it, and left WITHOUT signing NOR paying.
It was days later when we again came in, sat with «Chad», and had him write up the order of what we wanted. Because this is a special order, it can’t be returned, so Chad took his time being sure he entered exactly what we wanted. THAT’s the paper work we signed, and have our copies, and THAT’s what we were expecting to be delivered. But when the wrong door arrived, someone at Dixieline told my husband it was because we dealt with two different sales people. Hmm. No matter how many people we dealt with, we only signed ONE order form.
As this point, we’re convinced Dixieline will not be were we buy the rest of our remodeling supplies on our list: paint, lighting, fixtures, cabinets, etc. In fact, the purchase of this door came with a $ 300 gift card for Dixieline, and we’re thinking of selling it on Groupon and taking our business instead to Lowes or Home Depot.
Most disappointing is that every call to them needs to be made multiple times before we get return calls. No matter whose fault the door snafu, No excuses for bad customer service.

Be 110% certain what you want is what you need, so there are no returns!
A few weeks back I bought 2 repair parts for our shower, thinking that what I got was the correct part, which it wasn’t. It was my error, but the return was a joke.
When I entered the store, I told the guy at the counter I had a return and he directed me to the cashier. After I filled out a small form and the cashier had entered the return into the register, she told she needed a manager’s approval since the return was over $ 20. When she called over a manager, they told her I needed to go to the counter. WTF??? They sent me to you???
The guy at the counter then brought me BACK OVER TO THE REGISTER and spent a few minutes entering the information on a form IN TRIPLICATE! He did apologize for my extreme frustration at their convoluted return procedure, but as I told him, «…your return policy has made me not want to shop at Dixieline ever again, because of the screwed up system»
Go across the street to Home Depot and you’ll have a return processed within about 37 seconds, receipt or not!!! Not the 10+ minutes I spent at Dixieline, even with a receipt.
DIXIELINE — GET AN F’ING CLUE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

So not impressed. I ordered a vanity for my bathroom and I asked for delivery. Well not only do they not want to deliver but they refuse to bring it upstairs. Mind you this is an elevator building with a dedicated spot for delivery. There are no stairs and it’s 3 pieces measuring 60 inches.
I originally purchased from Dixiline because I wanted to buy local and not from a chain. I don’t get how they stay in business if they don’t want to service downtown San Diego.

Sure, the salesman was nice and responsive in the store. He was quick to set up an appt to have someone come out and measure our windows and doors. Then… nothing! I called, emailed, and nothing. No response is so frustrating! Why do they waste my time and not want my business? At least let me know that they are not interested so I am not just waiting and waiting.

Try to return items that were overbought for large projects. I actually get nervous that they are going to say, «Sorry, we can’t take that back, it’s been over 30 days, or you don’t have a receipt or …» This is unacceptable. If I purchase $ 5K in supplies and I want to return $ 400 in product unused, I should be welcomed in for being a good customer. I try to avoid the big box places but sometimes a stress free return process is worth it.

The best hardware store!
First we went to home depot across the street to replace a wheel on a cart we had that had broken. The employee at homedepot told us he could not fix it and they did not have the equiptment. We then went to dixieline. There staff was so knowlegable! The gentleman that helped us knew exaclty what we needed and where it was.
SO MUCH BETTER THAN ALL OTHER HARDWARE STORES IN SAN DIEGO!
An onlder educated staff goes a long way, and is much appriciated by customers!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a good selection of bathroom and kitchen vignettes. However, they totally need to change their old as dirt burgundy showroom carpet!
The sales people upstairs all seemed like they were under a spell typing away, staring at their computer screen without daring to make eye contact with me. Finally a nice gentleman reluctantly greeted me and answered a few questions.
Unfortunately the quote I received was much higher for the same product elsewhere. I’m sure they could match it if I asked, but it wasn’t worth my breath.
I was very happy with the friendly staff downstairs who helped me with doors and other miscellaneous items.
Overall, I really like this place, but just for your everyday hardware and lumber needs…

the thermocouple was out on my space heater — after I got the damn thing disassembled, I called dixieline to see if they had an appropriate replacement in stock and david literally walked me thru where to find the model information and how to find the part number via google over the phone so that I’d have some idea what I was looking for — THANK YOU DAVID A MILLION TIMES THANK YOU I will ALWAYS come to you guys first for my hardware needs from now on !!!

If you are looking for high quality lumber then this is the place to go. The lumber yard has lots of big beams and long cuts of every dimension of board you need. The tool selection is good and usually competitively priced with Home Depot. I would recommend Dixieline over Home Depot if you have a contractors license. There is also a good selection of electrical plumbing and hardware. The service at the pro desk and contractors desk is usually pretty fast and knowledgeable. Sometimes there is good bargains in the bargain rack of doors and plywood in the back parking lot.

The cashier was a retired guy who took forever to ring me up.
One part didnt have a code, and although they had similar parts in a binder beside the register, THIS specific part was not in there, so another associate had to run back to get it.
He was slow on the register, forgot to give me my little baggie of parts, and generally moved at speed 1.
Ugh.

Needed an 8″ x 12″ x 10′ beam for an art project.
Went in, told them what I needed, rang me up, helped me load it onto the car.
Quick, easy and big driving aisles.

Meh. Okay.
Cramped store with low ceilings inside make it difficult to find departments. Prices for sale items are great and everything I needed was in stock.
The checkout woman was pleasant even if she forgot to charge me for something, caught herself, and charged me for it anyway.
Not the best of hardware stores in town but it did for what I needed.
A solid 3 performer.
