Established in 2012.

Dog​Va​cay​.com was founded by a husband and wife team who didn’t believe in paying hundreds of dollars to leave their dogs in a cage at the kennel. They began by opening up their own home to guest pooches and realized it was the start of something special. Eventually, tens of thousands of animal lovers across North America applied to join the community and host dogs in their homes. Since, DogVacay has been praised for revolutionizing pet care and has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and other major news outlets.

is the best. Kurt and his family provided a wonderful safe place for our rescued Pit Bull, Sydney. We received daily updates and funny pictures and were able to enjoy a family get together without concern for our dog.

We’ve utilized her several times for day sitting and recently a two-​day, overnight stay. Finding a place to leave our dog when we went on vacation was getting harder and harder. We had gone through our friends and had tried «traditional» boarding places but I felt stressed about leaving my dog. At 3 years old Button has a lot of energy and although she likes dogs on a one-​on-​one basis, she prefers people. I had been receiving emails from DogVacay and decided to give them a chance. What a blessing when we found «Pooch Palace» in Carlsbad and Julianne and her family. From the initial meet-​and-​greet we knew we had made the right choice. Julianne asked about Button’s daily routine. The idea was to allow her to keep as much as possible to her routine and not simply force her to their routine. Julianne sent us photos daily and the occasional video. It was obvious Button was enjoying herself, and they were enjoying having her! After 2 separate week long stays Julianne is now in my phone book as «Buttons Second Family». I recommend DogVacay to everyone I know as an alternative to «traditional» dog boarding. And if you have a dog 20 pounds or less, check out Pooch Palace!

I tried Dog Day Camps for my mini schnauser and did not like the idea of them leaving the dog at night or paying extra for someone to stay with her at night, plus the cost was very high! Dog Vacay was VERY reasonable and I received 7 responses within an hour of posting my needs! We found Carrie T and we can not say enough about how happy we are with her service and her kind way she treated our BABY! This is the BEST service around and you can get day/​training/​in house/​overnight at the most reasonable prices!

I definitely recommend using Dogvacay. I came across the website by accident and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to set up your/​your pets profiles and research people in your area who do daycare and boarding. You can see their reviews, prices, profile, pictures of their homes/​other dogs who’ve stayed there and even schedule a meet and greet before your trip. We had a big success with finding a nice place for our dog Charlie to stay while we were in Mexico. Great way to save money and have your dog make some friends. Will definitely use them again!

I was in a last minute bind and decided to contact someone from DogVacay to see if they could watch my little man for the weekend. This wasn’t the first time I used DogVacay, but I feel prompted to write a review for others now that I know it is Unilocal-​able. I was a little nervous at first dropping off Salvador to a stranger who doesn’t know his quirks.
I felt much better after dropping him off and meeting his new housemate for the weekend as well as the sitter (Jaime). She was very nice and everything seemed great! Jaime sent me a picture of Salvador having a good time at her house. When I picked him up he was excited to see me (per usual) but I could tell the couple really liked him and he was happy. When someone says «we wish we could keep him.» That is always a warm and fuzzy feeling!
PS I just bought a Living Social deal for DogVacay, it may still be up!

Baxter’s house — Michele does such an amazing job taking care of my little fur child! I couldn’t find a better place to have her stay while I’m out of town. I recently discovered DogVacay and it is a real gift. We are on a fairly long cross country road trip and most of the national parks that we are driving through are dog unfriendly and so to save my sweet pup from being cooped up in the car or the room, I was looking for alternatives and found this. It is a frat service, easy to use and connects you with other dog lovers who are willing to watch your dog. We have used this service in three places now and very happy with the quality of care. In fact, if I had a fenced yard, I would have loved to sign up and return the favor to others.

My husband and I have been using
for about a year and we love it. It’s very easy to use and getting in contact with the hosts is simple and pleasant. We happened to find a great couple just down the street from us who host dogs via DogVacay and we couldn’t be happier with them.
Whenever it’s time to plan a trip, we just go to
and check our hosts calendar. A couple clicks later and we’ve made our reservations, paid our hosts, and we can use the messaging system to work out the details.
Being able to find such a great service with great people has been a huge relief for us when it comes to our dogs. Previously we were boarding them at PetSmart PetHotel and were okay with it, but after I spent a couple weeks helping out at another popular dog boarding facility in San Diego, I left realizing I never wanted to board my dogs that way again. Not that there is abuse at those boarding facilities, but it’s so sad seeing the dogs locked in those little kennels all day (especially for shelter dogs like ours), and even if you get them into the doggie playtime there is an extremely high chance of dog fights. I had no idea how often the employees who supervise doggie daycares have to break up dog fights. After seeing it in person for hours on end, it was not something I wanted to put my dogs through.
I am so ecstatic that we found
. Not only do our girls get the one-​on-​one attention they deserve, they also get to hang out in a house and yard all day instead of locked in a kennel, stressing out to the sound of a dozen dogs barking and whining. And all of that for less money than you’d spend at a dog boarding facility! It’s a win-​win and I’ll never go back to boarding our dogs again.

Easy to use website– browsed several sitters and contacted a couple. After a meet and greet we decided Savannah B was a good fit for in-​home dog sitting while we were away for several days. Savannah was easy to communicate with, arrived on time, our dogs were happy and healthy when we returned and our house was well cared for too. Prices were very reasonable also!
