I have used Dominant Movers again and this time I had a completely different team of movers. My movers were Jaymes, Roman Alex and Marc. Everything went very well and I am happy again. I hate moving but these guys really make it less stressful and it seems so easy for them.

I used Dominant again for a long-​distance move this time, and I was very pleased with the experience again. As it was a long-​distance move, I wanted to ensure I got a rate that was competitive and all-​inclusive, as I was given rates that purported to be all inclusive but left out labor and fuel charges. I had gotten a good offer from one-​company, but the owner was calling me incessantly to try to get me to book with them. I then searched for information on their company and couldn’t find much more than a simple website and no user reviews. I was reluctant to use a company I didn’t know, and remembered my experience with Dominant and reached out to them. I was able to obtain a flat, competitive, and all-​inclusive rate with James of Dominant and they were available on the Saturday I was looking to move. (Note, this was a full month ahed when I made the reservation.)
Davis and Jordan (Sorry if I’m messing up your names) showed up within the appointed time to move me and my one-​bedroom apartment from San Diego to Pasadena, CA on a Saturday. I had all of my things packed and ready and they got my things out in a little over 2 hours. I hoped moving on a Saturday would’ve normally avoided the typical LA traffic. Boy was I wrong. A fire on the 15 freeway forced it to close, which put the movers behind in meeting me, as I had taken a different route. However, they were still able to get past that mess and eventually meet me at my new place two hours later. I’m glad I got them water and some snacks, as I hope that was what helped them (along with their great work ethic!) to stay energized to unload my belongings. They both were very cool the entire time, when most people would’ve likely been pretty upset after being stuck in traffic. I’m happy to report that all of my furniture and belongings made it in tact in under two hours and no damage was done to either property moved from.
Great job to your movers and I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to move locally or long-​distance from San Diego!

Dominant movers were great. Josh and Mike, the movers, were very fast, careful and strong. They were very polite and accommodating. They saved us many hours of hard work and made our move smooth. They even moved some furniture from our second story to our garage we were getting hauled off. The moved our 2 bedroom condo in 4 hours while we saved our energy to unpack. Although they did offer that service too. Dominant quote process and moving scheduling was very easy. I had looked at many moving companies and dominant was one of the most reasonable and highly rated.

These guys were amazing! Sounded like they had a real tough day but came in with no complaints ready to work and busted their butts for a good 7 hours. Super helpful and friendly, even up until a midnight finish! I’ve used this company before a year ago, and will use them again in the future! Thanks again!!!

I’m haven’t been a fan of moving myself in the past. This time I decided to hire someone and got estimates from a few movers. Dominate Moving looked to be the most straight forward with pricing and clear about their estimates. Alex and Zac were fast and careful with everything I owned. They were amazing and friendly the entire time — even after having to move my heavy sleeper sofa, the piece that pushed me to hire someone else in the first place.
Everything went great and I won’t hesitate to use them next time I move.

Alex and Charles helped us today. They were super nice. They called us on their way to our old apartment, was on time, and were really hard workers. We enjoyed the move and everything was seamless. This is our second time using Dominant Moving and I highly recommend them.

Based on the reviews I saw here, I elected to use Dominant Movers for a recent move. I had a 2400 square foot house. I moved 9 miles away. I personally packed three bedrooms, an office, the family and living rooms, as well as a closet. The only remaining rooms to be packed were the kitchen and the garage. All of the boxes I had packed were stacked in the garage. The only other work was that the furniture needed to be moved. It took four movers eleven (that’s right, 11) hours on the FIRST DAY — then they returned with three movers for day two and took ANOTHER eleven hours. 7 people –22 man hours. Add to that the fact that there was significant damage which was summarily dismissed by the «standard insurance election». Here is the text of their letter — admitting «that your move was the worst service provided» (quote from their own letter). You will see below that they accepted the responsibility but then «lawyered up» — and didn’t do what was right but rather what they are «obligated to do».

First of all, I want to apologize on behalf of our company and moving crew for damaging your valuable belongings. Situations with damaged items happen very rare in our company. Unfortunately, it happened during your move.
Just want to remind that valuation option (coverage for your items) that was provided for relocation of your belongings was the basic option 60 Cents per pound. In confirmation email that was sent prior to your move we informed you that you can also purchase additional insurance through the
. Basic valuation option obligates us to refund only 60 cents on each pound of damaged item.

Here are the comments to the rest of the claimed damages.
It was stated in confirmation email that our company is not responsible for damaged of any items, packed by owner. We cannot reimburse you for something that got damaged and was already packed by owner. (NOTE: NOTHING I packed was damaged. It was all Kitchen and garage items)
Regarding damage to you bed. We will not be able to reimburse for the damage which is not visible and cannot be seen. Our main goal to make sure that face surface is not damaged, which in it was not. (The inside of the bed frame is broken and half of the wood content is missing — structurally unsound is not cosmetic)
Regarding the filing cabinet. According to pictures we received, there is no damage indicated. It looks more like regular wear.
The total reimbursement based on 60 cents per pound is $ 153. But because Dominant Moving treats customers not for a single transaction, we decided to issue total refund of $ 370, which should be enough for repairs of some of your furniture. I want to bring your attention that most of the companies and especially big ones would not reimburse a dollar more, than the amount they have to pay according to the agreement for moving services. We only do it because our company is a small business and we care about our customers.
I want to personally apologize that the service provided was a way below average. As I mentioned before David’s two helpers who worked with him in one team for over 1 year were not able to work with him for a couple of weeks. One of the guys could not work because of some tragic events in his life and other guy got injured. We had to send another guys.
I ll be honest to say, that your move was the worst service provided, as we never had so many damages during one move. We took your case as a wake up call. These days, we are working on the new training program for our employees, as we want to minimize the claim rate, which is 3% (as of December 2015)

I appreciate that they did reimburse me more than was statutorily required — however after charging me over $ 3500 for a 9 mile move across two days and costing me an additional $ 6800 (replacing the custom entertainment center was $ 5000 and an additional $ 1800 in repairs) on top of that, the additional $ 217 was of little consolation. I will NEVER recommend Dominant movers.

Josh and Marvin were amazing! Professional well mannered and did not slow down once. They both went above and beyond for our family & we are so happy with dominant movers! I will be calling the company back on my next move. I would recommend them to anyone who has a move. 5 stars all the way.

I’ ve had a really amazing service 3 times provided by Dominant Moving Company. First I used Dominant Moving Company in 2013 for moving of 2 bedroom apartment of my daughter in El Cajon. Second time was in 2015 for relocation of our office, which was abour 2.5 thousands square feet. And the last time was just recently, in the begining of February — another apartment move for my daughter. Every time Dominant sent us different team. And every time i was able to get superior service — fast, reliable efficient.
All 3 times they were taking care of our furniture, whether it was an expensive office desk or just cappy couch. Everything was carefully wrapped. There was no damages at all 3 moves.
As a returned customer I was always able to get a discount, plus they were flexible with scheduling my moves.
Me and my husband are in process of buying a new house in Carlsbad and we definetely will call Dominant Movers once everything is set up.

We had recently used Dominant Moving Company to move from San Diego to Orange County. After requesting estimates from different movers, we decided to give these guy’s a shot!
Their sales representative contacted us 20 minutes after we submitted our information on their website.
We don’t have a lot of furniture, but we needed some packing service. The crew of 2 arrived right on time and packed our place in boxes in about 2.5 hours. They were really nice and friendly. They offered us moving boxes, which were even a little cheaper than boxes that we purchased from storage, which was 2 blocks away from us. Guys did a good job packing our fragile items and labeled all boxes.
Than it took them 1.5 hour to load everything in a truck. Than a little over hour to drive. All our items were delivered in the same conditions.
Great Service, Very satisfied.
Will definitely recommend to anyone, who is looking for affordable moving service.

The Mos Eisley spaceport of moving companies.
After my entire condo was ruined from the El Nino rains earlier this month, I had to get as much out of there as I could so the water wouldn’t damage anymore of my furniture or personal items. I had to move quick and only did a cursory scan of moving companies on Unilocal.How Dominant still has 5 stars is utterly beyond me but I wish I had investigated further before calling them.
They arrived 30 minutes early (no big deal) and I showed them what all needed to be packed. There was a concern that not everything would fit into the 10×10 storage unit I rented so I told them that I needed to rush to the storage company to rent another unit. Then they asked since I was going out, to get lunch for them. «Ok…» I thought.
They were early so why didn’t they just eat first before starting this job?
They gave me 15 bucks and requested Carls Jr. I didn’t want to debate this as there was a lot to do before the storage company closed for the day. I returned with the keys to a second storage unit and two hamburgers and they assured me they wouldn’t need more than 15 minutes to eat. I’m glad I checked my watch when they said this cause they spent at least 15 minutes eating and another 15 minutes on their phones. Sigh.
All of this I could have overlooked. I had and still have plenty of things to worry about regarding the water damage to my condo but then these two stooges got their hands on my work desk.
I was told they would need to disassemble it to transport it. I told them by no means are they to do that as it would be a huge pain to put it back together again. It’s an IKEA desk but it had a backboard nailed to it which would not come out easily or be reattached in the same condition.
Tweedle-​Dum and Tweedle-​Dummer asked to take it apart again about a few minutes later and I still said no. I rented about 200 sq feet of storage at this point and there would be plenty of room for a corner desk. «Well there’s not going to be enough room on the truck.»
If I held my ground, my desk would still be alive today. While I packed some items in the kitchen they brought a portion of the desk through the back and then I didn’t seem them for a long while. One of them came back in with a guilty look on his face and said the top portion of the desk had fallen apart on the way to the truck.
I found it in pieces lying broken on the ground. With clinical detachment I photographed the crime scene. I told them this was why I didn’t want it disassembled. The corner desk becomes less structurally sound when you take it apart. Doesn’t take an engineer to see that.
Without the shelves and backboard the desk wasn’t of much use to me anymore so I asked them to haul it off and finish clearing out the condo. Instead they left it by the dumpster which would have incurred the wrath of my HOA and their many bylaws. Before we left for the storage site I had to ask them AGAIN to load it into the truck or I would get into trouble for disposing of furniture in the complex’s dumpsters.
I would also like to note that before they left there would have been plenty of room on that truck for the desk. There but for the grace of incompetence goes my favorite piece of furniture.
At the end of the evening I filled out an incident report and put down the cost of the desk as well as the amount I spent to have it delivered and assembled by Ikea. I was told I would be contacted by the office later about it.
A day goes by. No word.
I called their office and was told to wait another day while they go over the paper work. 3 days after the move I get an e-​mail saying that they would only offer 60 cents per pound on broken furniture. They offered another 50 out of «sheer generosity» for a total of 80 bucks. When I asked instead for the full amount, their representative became very defensive and started siting contracts and California law to try and cover for the lies and incompetence of their movers.
There’s a difference between moving a rickety bookshelf made of particle board and deceiving a client to cover your butt. This was a very secure piece of furniture until they got their hands on it. The movers even lied to their manager and said they couldn’t get the desk through the front door in one piece. This is why I had the back, sliding glass door open for them which was more than enough for every other large piece of furniture.
Steer clear of Dominant Moving. They are not just unprofessional but disreputable as well.

Wow. I wish my experience had been like other people’s here.
I hired Dominant Moving to do a very simple move from Carlsbad to Encinitas — less than 10 miles. My 50″ plasma tv was shattered in transit.
I was promised I would receive a call within 48 hours so I paid them and waited patiently. But they never called. So I called them — they did not pick up and a little after I called I got an email which promised me a phone call the next day.
I waited an additional day and the call never came. So I sent an email pressing the business owner to get things moving. In response he insisted that he only owed me 60 cents a pound ($ 30) The other option he offered was that if I promised not to write any reviews, he would refund the cost of the move ($ 255) but was emphatic that he would not consider any additional compensation in any circumstance. (I purchased this tv less than 3 years ago for $ 800) In my eyes, $ 255 is very inadequate and I think the owner knows it — why else would he want to cover this up?
I realize that accidents happen. Thankfully it’s just a tv and easily replaceable, and no one was hurt. But I do expect a moving company to take responsibility for damage that they cause and compensate fairly and professionally when it happens.
Their $ 30 «compensation» offer for a shattered 50″ plasma and attempt to low-​ball me to cover up the incident was very disappointing. In my opinion their handling of the situation has been unprofessional and inadequate.

I hate moving. Really hate moving. But, Dominant made moving mostly bearable. They’re worth every penny. The team was right on time and hustled through the move, and were polite and friendly. Nothing was damaged, and the move itself took about the amount of time estimated.
