How can you go wrong when they give you fresh chocolate chip cookies every time I come in the front door?

If you were experiencing plumbing issues that extreme, why didn’t you inform your guests? Or update us on when it would be fixed? It was horrible from New Years Eve until we left on Sunday, 1÷3÷16! You didn’t even offer us a discount, just sprayed lots of air freshener, and pretended nothing was wrong. Sewer smell + Air Freshener = Nausea
We should have received a substantial Discount!!!

Pretty solid hotel. Will stay here again if in the area.
The location is great. We went to Gaslamp District and La Jolla and felt close to everything. We didn’t use the shuttle or Amtrak but it would have come in handy if we didn’t plan on staying out late into the night.
Staff was friendly and upgraded our Groupon room to a higher floor with a pool view room since sports teams had taken over most of the hotel.
Hotel was quiet, our room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. We didn’t go in the pool, but it looked nice. Warm cookies were also a plus. Parking area also seemed safe.
Cons would be the darn $ 12 parking fee and it was a little weird using the same elevator with the employees. So you could see behind the scenes on each floor if the maintenance side doors of the elevator opened. Also water pressure wasn’t all that great, but that’s pretty much standard at any hotel.

I really like this hotel. My boyfriend and I have stayed here twice and each time we’ve had a great experience. The last time we came though we had a problem with our booking. Chris initially started our check in process. Honestly, he wasn’t very helpful, he didn’t even suggest an alternate way for him to search our booking. I’m guessing he was just going to let us walk away if he couldn’t find it. Which I’m not happy about till this day. His supervisor Tracy, I’m not sure if that’s her name, she stepped in and was so helpful. She came to us with excellent customer service. She even upgraded our room. I’m for sure going to stay here again for the cookies and Tracy the supervisor.

My boyfriend and I stayed here two nights for a vacation across California and it was nice and we would most likely stay here again. We drove in a night early from Arizona & luckily the receptionist Alex honored our Expedia price for the night we had for both nights, so it wasn’t more expensive. The one thing I could say could use some attention is some more decorating since it is kind of a Hilton and also a bigger parking lot. it was always interesting to find a space big enough & even a parking space at all there. A convenient point was the hotel was located only 20 minutes from Sea World which we decided to go too, 10 minutes from Ballast Point which we had planned to go too, and right next to a nice mall and great food locations!

For the price, I would definitely say it’s a good deal. We got a second floor room on a Saturday night for about $ 150. It’s not the biggest or most glamorous hotel but it’s 20 mins away from Downtown and there are a lot of food places nearby. Stayed here for one night for a wedding and overall had a good experience. The only con was calling for two towels twice only to get them about an hour later… probably short staffed so don’t expect too much when asking for extras. Would stay here again though!

Service were so warm hearted and caring… For them its service over money.

I so wanted to like this hotel.
However, inconsistency rates very low in my book.
After posting an initial positive review, I even threw out my second negative trip here and kept my good review up, but now I just can’t ethically do that. ‘2 out 3′ IS bad, it turns out.
This exhausting night started out as ineptitude on the part of the reservations (contract Hilton now has with the Philippines) and I can ONLY surmise it’s to save a buck, and wow, how the quality has seriously diminished. In my experience, most of the reservation reps couldn’t care less what happens after you make the reservation. And blatant lying is now par for the course.
While that was not the hotel’s fault at all, the hotel could have and should have made things right the best they could since, in fact, they work for the same BRAND and that was a recorded call which can definitely be pulled back up.
Ok, first, at this hotel:
Rookie staff should be TRAINED before they are put on the floor with absolutely zero customer skills. That was the second guy, Chris. The first guy I spoke with was Shawn. Shawn was empathetic and I thought had my back, but Shawn never let his coworkers know anything about the deceptive conversation in which not only did the reservations rep give me totally false info, she went as far as to LIE and say she called and spoke with the hotel. See, the problem with that is that only 3 employees were working at the front desk since 3 pm and NONE of the 3 recall her calling to inquire on my behalf about a specific policy.
Secondly, I never asked for the room temp to be dropped which I should have because let me tell you, the rooms in this hotel are hot as hell and they take FOREVER to cool. I’m sweating and this room should have been cool quite awhile ago.
But what I did ask for were 4 extra FIRM pillows I use as body pillows. Shawn assured me that was done. I tried to shift my energy and calm and focus on the good until I got to the room and saw they had never been delivered even though he just said they had been (and after all the stress of reservations and rookie staff here…, so when I then returned to the lobby to retrieve them, I was frustrated, Shawn had apparently misunderstood, (what can you say about an honest mistake?) so I graciously accepted his apology and took the flat, very mushy pillows to my room.
Bad timing, really, in a series of frustrating bad calls tonight from this hotel.
Ammesia’s first words to me were NOT «Hi welcome to Hilton.»
Because that would have been… professional.
She said, with a slanted tone: «Oh, you must be Ms S…» (the look on my face had preceded me, understandably so; I had crashed, energy wise, to the point I had been so frustrated I just wanted to sleep in my car instead of deal with any more of this reservation.)

Additionally, the internet is also exceedingly slow here. I have had to re-​connect 3 times just while writing this review.
I am never coming back here. I strongly suggest you think twice when making your decision because you might have a good experience but my probability rate indicates you’re more likely to not. I have had several excellent experiences at other hotel brands that blow Hilton away (but now a days, that’s not hard. Motel 6 could do it, I bet.)
Hilton, as a whole, is on the decline in quality and is no longer relevant for hotel standards of excellence [consistently].
This hotel is no exception, unfortunately.
Let’s face it, once in a blue moon good experiences is not what most consumers opt in for.
Most of us want reliability. And some of us won’t settle for less.
Hyatt is my choice from now on. They personalize your stay in unbelievably cool ways and you can feel the heart in it a mile away!
Did you know they will even go shopping for you at a charge and stock your fridge in the suite if you order this service? Did you know that Hyatt cares about your family experience so much that they will lend you board games and books?!? What is cooler than THAT?

Sorry DoubleTree, cookies– as good as they may taste, can’t wipe out the frustrations galore of consistent ineptitude!

Upon arrival we had some difficulties with our rooms. They did help us to get it figured out and bought a round of drinks while we waited. We ended up moving to a different hotel but I will say I was impressed with the sales person who worked with the company we booked our rooms through to resolve the issue.

They have wifi, but only to guests staying at the hotel. I was a guest at the hotel, but I didn’t have access to the wifi. Does that make it a bad hotel? Nope. Spice is the variety of life. I was not a guest staying there. I was there for a seminar for work. So no wifi access. Bummer.

Love this place! Every time we stay here we feel completely relaxed and taken care of. The shuttle service is great. Shawn the driver is great. He is always accommodating and friendly. The young lady that checked us in (I apologize I didn’t catch her name) is so sweet and friendly. The prices are reasonable for the location and amenities. We live about 12 miles from here and will definitely be back. We love the pool and service. We had a delicious club sandwich and drinks by the pool. Looking forward to our next adult getaway.

This is for the bar staff working on Wednesday night (⁰⁸⁄₀₅). Guest staying at the hotel was sitting at the firepits. Ordered a decafe Irish coffee. Bartender not the friendliest, told me there was no decafe and was told she would have to make some. Took my order and was told she would have the server bring it out to me. 45 minutes later, I’m still waiting. Guess I’ll just head to to my room now. May try again tomorrow night.

Great hotel. Very cozy. Rooms kinda small but excellent amenities and features. Perfect for a weekend getaway.
The staff deserve 5 stars themselves. We received excellent customer service. We stayed here for a mini honeymoon and they gave us lots of little upgrades (thanks to our and made our stay extra sweet and very enjoyable.
We will return this summer!

Great Hotel and services. Rooms were spacious. Parking was ok — very narrow and high risk of door dings. Bar and breakfast area is really nice. Pool was awesome.
However…
We found a bug crawling on one of the beds in our room. I don’t think it was a bed bug, but it’s still a bug. I think it was a carpet bug. I captured it in one of the room coffee cups and showed it to the front desk people. They confirmed it wasn’t a bed bug and they asked what room we were in. I think they asked just to make sure there isn’t any more bugs rather than giving us a comp or discount on a future stay.
Overall, the stay and place was great.

I am a hilton member and I always stay in doubletree hotels. Stayed here for one night with my friends 5^th floor hhonors floor. We went kayaking and the hotel is close by La Jolla and the Torrey Pines Reserve which is really good. (Close by starbucks and CVS too)
After our hiking in Torrey pines we finished at 11 am and called the front desk (I think it was meghan) if we can check in early. Turns out our rooms were already ready and we can check in any time. So we checked in at 12:30 and gave us extra free cookies. (This is why I keep coming back) LOL.
4 stars because they don’t have complimentary breakfast. They also have a salted pool and jacuzzi good size. And very clean. Gym (But we never had the chance to use it lol)
Checking out it was fast and easy. Shout out to diana who gave us those mouthwatering cookies again before heading back home in LA.

I’M A BIG FAN of this particular establishment. Service is great, they do all they can to accommodate you. The rooms typically do not have a mini fridge, but you can request for one. I went out to pick up some takeout and when I came back, the mini fridge was already set up. They also give you a warm cookie when you check-​in. Never realized cookies was the key to my heart… They’re bomb. Chocolate chip walnut cookies. Yum. They even gave me extra cookies when I checked out. LOVE IT! :) Totally made my morning.
Good stay, cheaper than the Marriott across the street.

Not very happy with my staycation. First the stench of smoke hit my face in what I’d suppose to be a nonsmoking room. Second this is suppose to be a pool view room… apparently they haven’t looked out the window lately… Palm trees covering out window… kind of disappointed especially because I don’t get away much and we are celebrating mu birthday/Valentine’s day.

I am very surprised by all these lower star reviews because luckily we received the complete opposite when it came to service. We arrived early on a Saturday morning and after having breakfast in La Jolla we thought we’d check to see if we could get a room early or at least leave our luggage. We were quickly checked in to a nice clean spacious room on the Hilton Honors floor. I stayed for 3 days while my boyfriend stayed the whole week but we never had a problem with any service. Every person I came into contact with quickly greeted me and offered assistance when they could. The servers at the bar/​pool area were beyond friendly and patiently served me and my rowdy friends with plenty of smiles and conversation. They even went as far as to find us a bar we could view the MMA fight at since nobody close by seemed to be showing it! And it was a great bar too.
I ordered room service twice and both meals were delicious. Housekeeping was thourough and fast when we needed it. I used the Care Line when we ran out of something and they were fast to replace it. My only two complaints would be that they don’t have vending machines anywhere. I know I could go down to the lobby to get snacks etc but it would be nice to just go down the hall. Lastly the pillows were terrible. This is something I’m sure could’ve been fixed with a quick phone call but they were too soft. Anyway we love staying at Doubletree’s and this one was just as great as the rest.

I’m a Hilton HHonors Gold Member, and I’m used to a certain level of service from Hilton. Otherwise, I’d cheap out and stay at Motel 6. So far, my expectations have always been exceeded at Hilton. Then I stayed at this Doubletree in Del Mar…
First, they never answer the «Care Line,» which is the number they tell you to call if you ever need anything. I didn’t call every 5 minutes asking for toiletries or anything. I just called to request that my room be made up, which the staff neglected to do. Literally 5 minutes later they answered, but acted rude, like I shouldn’t have called. It should be called the «We don’t care line.»
The biggest problem I had was when the cleaning staff took a bag of my personal items, which they claimed looked like trash. The bags had no trash in them, and were not near any trash cans. Luckily they found it, but the staff tried to blame me for their mistake, instead of just apologizing and assuring me it wouldn’t happen again. The manager was also no better, and felt it was more prudent to tell me excuses as to why their staff took my belongings rather than own up to the mistake and just apologize. Horrendous service, I’ll be staying at Marriott from now on.

Pretty good lodging for a 3 star Priceline Express hotel. Usually I blindly bid on my hotel rooms, and have always done well by sticking with a 3 star rating or above. But this time, I needed something special, a dog friendly hotel. Bidding cannot guarantee that option. So by using the Express Hotel listings, I could go for the sure thing, paid a tad more but not retail, and it already displayed the hotel name.
First of all, it was conveniently located near the freeway and in a very nice area. The check in was a breeze. Pre-​paid, there was nothing for me to do but get my keys. Not even show a credit card number for incidentals, sign any papers, a car license to write down, or a first born to offer as collateral. Oh. One hitch… I could not dash off before getting my warm chocolate chip cookies for Mr. B and I. =P
The room was lovely. There were only a few things that could have been better, but really, they were cosmetic. A scar on the floor in the entry where something roundish had been removed and not refinished, and some scraped off paint on the sliding door that provided privacy to the bathroom.
The king-​sized bed was quite comfortable, the interior pleasing, everything clean, great fluffy towels, a great big bathroom. Even the in-​room coffee station was special to me, they offered Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf packets should I want to make my own coffee. There was a decent sized workout room just down the hallway, large grassy areas and welcoming lounge areas in the courtyard surrounding a beautiful gated pool, and a lovely restaurant on premises. Although there was no refrigerator/​microwave in the room, I heard the desk clerk offer to bring up a refrigerator for another guest.
Thank you, Doubletree, for the nice stay, for making my dog welcome, and especially for that yummy, nutty chocolate chip cookie that I shouldn’t have eaten.
