Why Learn to Draw & Paint? Doing so improves handwriting, writing, visual & spacial skills. Drawing and painting builds confidence, pride & independence in learning. It also enhances focus and attention span: leads to more acute memory. Drawing and painting give artistic understanding of line, tone, color & 3-​dimensionality. It’s also been proven to increases fine motor skills & hand-​eye coordination. Exposure to art increases cultural awareness & appreciation. Statistically, art enhances a child’s academic performance.

History

Established in 1986.

Ed Warren and his wife, Sher, decided to start after school classes, teaching fine art drawing & painting. The classes became an overnight success, with families traveling long distances to study under Ed’s tutelage. Seeing the great demand for quality fine art instruction, Ed devoted himself to developing curriculum that would enable him to teach a completely individualized program to all ages.

Over the years, Ed has trained hundreds of teachers, including his 2 daughters, who have chosen careers running their own KidsArt/​Drawn2Art studios. Because of his great enthusiasm, charisma, and extraordinary gifts as a teacher, many KidsArt/​Drawn2Art students grew up to become KidsArt/​Drawn2Art teachers (after completing their art degrees), and others went on to successful art careers in other artistically related fields. From a small after-​school program started 25 years ago, KidsArt/​Drawn2Art has taught more than 2,000 students weekly in 20 studios, and in many public and private schools.

Meet the Business Owner

Jaci S.

Business Owner

Jaci was born in Pleasantville, NY. In her early teens she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA where she earned her BA in Integral Liberal Arts. She went on to earn a BFA in Painting from Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Jaci has been painting professionally and teaching since 2003. She specializes in realistic oil painting and portraiture, but enjoys all styles and mediums. In 2009 she began working as a manager and head teacher at KidsArt/​Drawn2Art in LA County. In 2014 she became a KidsArt/​Drawn2Art business partner and opened Drawn2Art San Diego.
