History

Established in 2009.

Drew McGill Photo has been a solid creation over the years. Starting around 2004 as a way to document friends surfing around San Diego, Ca. Soon enough we found ourselves well accomplished after receiving a Bachlors Degree in Photojournalism. From there an assistantship with a wedding and portrait photographer only blossomed the techniques and talents. A change meeting and day of assisting with headshot photographer Peter Hurley sealed the deal. We were hooked and wanted to build our own business.

We are now currently very active shooting engagement photos, weddings, headshots and architecture for clients.

Business Owner

Drew McGill has been shooting photographs for almost 10 years. His love for photography started in grade school while working with a camera his dad gave (lost to) him.

Since obtaining a BA in Photojournalism from Brooks Institute in 2009 Drew’s professional career has taken many different paths, leading him to understand many different walks of life. Drew has shot for many different publications and clients throughout Southern California, he currently resides in San Diego.

I feel so lucky to have been introduced to Drew to assist in capturing our wedding ceremony. He took the time to get to know my husband and I, understand what we were looking for, and offer suggestions where needed.
The day of the ceremony, he was flexible with our lax schedule and fairly non-​traditional approach, and ultimately did what he does best — capturing our families in a very organic, natural way. The final product was a set of gorgeous memories that we will treasure forever.

Drew went the extra mile to not only help tidy the home so that it would photograph better, but also found a spot across the canyon to find the best vantage point possible. I strongly recommend. With a tremendous eye for what works, Drew understands composition, vision and the best way to capture light. Because of that, our engagement photo shoot with Drew could not have gone smoother. Over the course of several hours, Drew took us to the best spots in San Diego to capture our vision. His understanding of composition and ability to try new and exciting scenes made my fiancé and I so comfortable. Drew is a true professional! He shot our engagement photos and could not have delivered more perfect photos. He was able to connect with myself and fiancée (who isn’t a huge fan of picture taking) and deliver amazing pictures that we can enjoy for years.
