Did not have the car I reserved. Long long wait for shuttle. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Avoid this place altogether.

As someone who works closely with the car rental agencies, and knows what’s up: I definitely don’t recommend renting with this company.
Their free shuttle from SAN to their property stoops running abruptly and without warning and leaves costumers waiting with no end time.
People don’t answer the phone when you call the number listed on Unilocal for the company. It’s truly a disappointment. I with their were specifications and guidelines for being associated with the airport.
Good luck, take care and don’t forget to do your research! Come 1÷20÷16 the rental car center opens, and lots of rental companies will be all in ONE place, with a free shuttle!

After the terrible experience I had at San Diego Airport’s Budget rental car location, I am extremely thankful I came across EZ Rent-​A-​Car. I paid $ 283 for 2 days at Budget and $ 132 for 4 days at EZ Rent-​A-​Car.
Angel was the representative who helped us at EZ. He was so extremely helpful and made sure to give us the best rates and options possible. The experience I had here made my trip to San Diego 100x better. Maybe everyone should request Angel, he’s handsome and helpful :)
They are located a little farther than most rental car shops, but they’ll be moving closer to the airport by next week, so wait and drive shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

Worst car rental company I’ve ever dealt with. We stood outside the airport for 40 minutes waiting for the shuttle. My husband kept calling the office over and over to inquire about the shuttle, BUT NO ONE ANSWERED. Finally, on call number 11, someone answered and said there was only one shuttle (!) and it should be there soon. Shuttle finally arrives and guy driving it informs us that ‘he’s really not a shuttle driver’. Umm, what? So we arrive at the overgrown ghetto looking trailer far from the airport to get our car. I try to plug in my phone charger while waiting, but outlets don’t work. Classy joint! While waiting for our turn, the car rental phone rings and rings… probably someone else trapped at the airport. The lone worker ignores it. My husband asks if the ballpoint pen scribble on the map haphazardly stapled to the wall is where we are. Lone worker says ‘oh, someone made a marking the map? Yeah, I guess so.’ Awesome.
The car. Wow. Scratches all over it and all the doors sound different when you close them. Crank windows, one door lock, no trunk release… and ¼ tank of gas.
We will NEVER use this company again. Yes, it was cheaper, but what a mess. So not worth saving a few bucks.

Awful. They have only ONE shuttle van serving everyone. And you have to call them to let them know you are ready to be picked up. Also, it is a 15 min. drive one way from the airport. If you just miss the shuttle, then it is a 30 min. wait until the shuttle is back then another 15 min to get to the rental agency. That is 45 min. to get to where the cars are. Do not use this rental agency.

Don’t get lured by the low costs!!! Terrible Place and Service. First problem is the location. It’s a 15 minute drive from the actual airport entrance. It may look close to the airport on a map, but it is a little farther than it should be to be considered an airport car rental facility. It isn’t even located with all the other car rental place.
Second, even larger issue for me, was the service. I had rented a Midsize car. This is defined as a Toyota Corolla or similar and has four doors and enough to space for 5 bags on EZ rentals website. But when I got to location, they only had a Volkswagen Beetle. Besides barely having any storage space, it only had 2 doors for my family. They refused to give me another car or at least the promised car until I threatened to cancel via my credit card company.
In all, save yourself the hassle and disappointment!

No Star! Liar! They said they would come back and pick up us but NEVER. We waited and waited and eventually decided to take a cab to go to their lot. U know what? The shuttle was parking there and they are closed BEFORE they are supposed to. There is someone in the office but refuses to open the door. Ok, now it’s 1 minute after their closing time and the guy w/​no ethics is now simply driving us away. They are cheap for a reason because CHEAP people run the business.

Very poor service. Don’t be lured in by the great rates. Shuttle didn’t pick us up even after a 20 minute wait at airport. Upon return the folks who checked us out neglected to mention that a shuttle that doesn’t say EZ Car Rental was leaving at that moment, and was the shuttle we were supposed to take. So, we had to wait 30 minutes in the cold for another one to come. No apologies. Infuriating.

This is a great rental car company. I had a horrific morning dealing with two other rental car companies and when I finally arrived at this one they were very friendly, efficient and got me on the road in no time! I highly recommend renting from this company!

I found EZ Rent-​A-​Car through Expedia. Though I was hesitant to commit because of EZ’s Unilocal reviews, EZ offered an amazing price that I could not turn down ($ 113 for 5 days). I booked the car and received confirmation immediately. When my boyfriend and I arrived in San Diego, we only waited for ~10 minutes for the shuttle. The shuttle driver dropped us off at the site, which did look a bit shady at first glance. However, the EZ representative that greeted us was friendly and helpful. He even offered us local food recommendations. We received our car within 10 minutes. Fast forward, returning the car was just as easy. We dropped off the keys, and the representative confirmed the price that Expedia promised. I had given a $ 200 deposit on the first day of rental, but it was returned to my account ~3 days after our trip. Thank you, EZ!

No option for 0 stars so I’ll be generous and give them 1. The money you save will be exchanged for your wasted time and annoyance. And by the way for the people defending them with «the reservation tells you to call for a shuttle» if you go through a service like Travelocity it does NOT. We stood like idiots for 15 minutes before calling to see if we were in the wrong spot. What a joke.

Hertz, Avias wanted to charge me over $ 560+ for a 4 days rental and they told me my credit cards were declined after I had already prepaid.
They take Credit Cards or Debit Card.

DO NOT TELL THEM YOU ARE LOCAL THEY WILL SCREW YOU ROYALLY. You would be better off paying 3 – 4 dollars more at a bigger company than going here. There should Really should be no stars with the deceiving business practices here. I paid for a car with unlimited miles on car rentals. Com and when I arrived and told them where I lived I was told since I’m local I would only recieve 150 miles a day or upgrade at 60 dollars for unlimited. What a scam ! Right there in the fine print. These people use the shadiest tactics. I was given a blank stare and no apologies. Do no rent your car here… or do if you like getting as* f***ed. I got stiffed because I had no other option and was in a tight space. F this place and any ez car. I picked up the car and it’s covered in mud and disgusting on the inside and no license plate ! Except a paper one, I guess quick responses on Unilocal are more critical than quick service at the counter

2 stars for customer service. Otherwise this place is pretty ghetto. Our car seemed like we borrowed an old car from someone. The lady in front of us asked multiple times if they wash and clean the cars in between use, because theirs wasn’t up to par. The gas wasn’t quite full, when we picked it up. We waited for a long time at the airport for the shuttle to arrive. And the biggest thing for me was that the baby car seat we rented was disgusting! I really did not want to put my daughter in it. I was tempted to go buy one but they are so expensive. I definitely will bring a car seat on another trips I take.

PLEASE do not spend you time renting from this place. I reserved a reservation where the agreement clearly stated «unlimited» mileage and upon me picking it up I was told that it was not the case. I canceled my reservation and have had a HORRIBLE time trying to get my money back. Shady business here. I never take time to get on Unilocal but others should know. Check out these complaints.

Just got into a late flight, called the office after midnight and it was closed! I had to rent a car from another company. Do not use this company.
And if people are flying in near the time of closing, maybe you should notify your customers that you are closed after midnight.
There are other companies that were open 24hours.

I would like to preface this by saying that I waited a week to post this review. This review was written after cooling down from the experience.
That being said this is by far the most unethical company I have ever done business with. I recently sold my car and was planning a road trip around the same time to Colorado and back from San Diego. Needless to say, a rental car was my only option at that point. So I went on to
just found a great deal for EZRent-​A-​Car. They offered me a car with «unlimited mileage» for a discounted rate provided I enter my credit card information and pay for the car upfront with no refunds. Upon entering my credit card information and confirming the reservation I was greeted with a webpage that said congratulations your reservation is confirmed. Then I noticed in the FinePrint below this confirmation A local renters clause which states that renters whom are local to the state where they are renting have a mileage allowance of 150 miles per day with each additional mild being charged at a rate of $.39 per mile. Mind you on the original page that I landed on listed under «amenities» stated unlimited mileage… no asterisk… no exceptions. Unlimited mileage was blatantly used as a selling point for this rental. it was a classic case of bait and switch. When I went to the rental counter the woman at the desk said sorry that’s our policy and there’s no refunds if you want you can call customer service however there’s no customer service listed on their website. When I brought this up to the front desk agent she told me a number to call, which I called and proceeded to wait on hold for an hour and 34 minutes before an automated voice came on and said we’re sorry experiencing difficulties and call was subsequently dropped. I plan on filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau and doing everything in my power to ensure no one ever rents from this company ever again.

First time using E-​Z Rent-​A-​Car. Despite reading some negative reviews on Unilocal I found the staff courteous and friendly, and was provided with a clean, unmarked, almost new rental car. While the facility is a little way off airport, the very competitive rental pricing is excellent. Also by checking in first time with Unilocal you get a further 5% discount.

Normally we’d go with Hertz, but for the weekend we were in San Diego, all the big name car rental companies were really expensive. So I decided to take a risk and booked a two day rental from E-​Z.
Yes, it did take awhile for the shuttle to come and pick us up, and yes the line was annoyingly slow. But that’s not the reason for the one star. The reason for the one star is because they over-​charged the rental! I returned the car on time, filled up the gas tank, checked if there’s any scratch even though my coverage already included damage insurance. Yet, they still overcharged by $ 60 for no reason. It’s obvious they lack business ethics, or they are just doing shady things.
Take my advice, NEVER rent from this place.

The 1 – 2 star reviews really caused me to have a lot of anxiety about renting from this place, but I also know to take these reviews with a grain of salt. Our experience was all good except for the shuttle wait time. Would I rent from this place again? Yes! The price was right! However, I would skip the shuttle and just take a cab. The hassle and stress was not worth it.
The cons:
Yes, the shuttle service should be improved. They have one van which seats 6 – 7 people, so the shuttle driver has to make many trips to the airport, and the location of the business is not very close to the airport, so it takes a while. We did have to wait about 40 – 45 minutes for the shuttle (after being told that it would be 5 or 15 minutes, depending if we got on the first shuttle). I would have preferred to have been told that it would be 40 minutes when we made the first call (of 3). Watching Hertz and Enterprise come by multiple times in huge shuttles makes your blood boil. Luckily our 3 year old was in a good mood! If I had been told that it would take a long time (because of the small van/​one driver/​a lot of arrivals/​etc) I would not have been angry, and I would have just hopped into a cab.
So, my take away from this is: TAKE A CAB/​UBER/​LYFT to get your car if you do not want to wait 40 minutes for the shuttle.
The pros:
The shuttle driver was very apologetic and kind. I felt bad for him because he is the one who has to deal with angry customers who were misled about the pick up time.
Our car was a 2014, in great condition, and clean.
The staff working in the office were polite, funny, and just trying to do their jobs.
The price for my rental was half of the cost for the big brand names (so I saved over $ 100). Paying $ 5 – 10 for Über would not have been a bad idea.
Drop off was easy. I did not take the shuttle back to the airport, as we had a friend who took us (we were afraid of how long it might take).
Every car rental company tries to upsell the customer. That’s part of the job. They were not pushy about getting insurance or changing the car to a bigger one.
