Edwards Mira Mesa 18 IMAX & RPX

SO conveniently located near my house, many nights we walk over. Cozy reclining seats, friendly staff. This is roughing it a little for me since I’m used to iPic that has waiters bringing me food, drinks, pillows, blankets etc. Edwards however is still a nice alternative. They typically have all of the new movie releases with 3D options. If you sign up to their Regal rewards you can get coupons for free popcorn and drinks. There are also quite a few restaurants in walking distance so you can dine before or after watching the movie.

I’ve been going here for the last few years. I prefer AMC theaters over Regal but this location isn’t bad.
The movie theater is huge. Although their seats aren’t as nice as AMC, they don’t recline :(
I love how they play Filipino movies from time to time. It saves us from have to drive all the way down to Plaza Bonita.
I believe weekend movies cost $ 13 for evening shows. This theater is also super easy to sneak in food.
There’s plenty of parking and I’ve never had trouble finding a spot.

Edwards cinema is my go to theater. Many times they would have 3D showings. Today though was not that day. Its a holiday and we wanted to spend some time together as a family and watch Civil War. Also, we planned on watching the 11:30 showing. We got to the theater at 11:15 to find out that the showing was sold out. We got into the next showing at 12:30
In preparation, my kids and i watched the first two Captain America and boy did that help. It was great to have a fresh memory of the other movies.
The theater itself is pretty clean. It’s been here awhile and they have kept up and maintained the structure a d the cinema rooms. I wish tbey would sell more healthy meals thN the 50 – 1000 caloric meals.
Civil War was a great movie… must see!

We cruised in for a movie after grabbing some bahn mi. Not a whole lot to say, just your standard theater with a few years on it. I would definitely go back, just don’t expect it to be an Arclight or Cinopelis

Great IMAX theater for late night or matinée showings. Always clean and in good condition. No one has really encouraged me to sign up for a regal card, some incentives would be nice.

Haven’t really ever had a problem here for movies. Maybe some wait time if the movie was pretty popular or just came out! Example per say — Batman vs. Superman. People went in early to get seats for a later movie time.
If you have time before, also great to pick up the tickets from Costco and then to switch it in for movie tickets. Movie tickets can also get purchased online via Fandango and you can pick it up on your left at the kiosks when walking in. Lines will be crazy if there was crazy marketing for a show — maybe like Deadpool.
Parking may be a hassle depending on the time you go and sometimes you might park a bit further away and maybe need to walk a bit as the theater shares the parking lot with the other shops in the vicinity. Food and drinks are in the middle after you purchase your tickets.
Def. sign up for their rewards for the Edwards Cinema card. I usually just end up using the boyfriend’s to stack points for him. He eventually got to being able to redeem a free ticket!

You can’t really go wrong with a movie theater. They keep it clean and organized.
If you’re ever planning to see a DC or MARVEL movie on opening night, you better be there 1 HOUR before showing. I promise you’ll run into not only parking hell, but the most endless line of people saving spots for dozens of other people. Save yourself the trouble.
Also, the theater runs a little cold. Bring a jacket or a light blanket to keep yourself comfortable throughout the movie.

I have been to this theater a few times
Usually its pretty clean, the seats are fairly comfortable
the theaters are all decently large
they normally have a good range of times to watch movies which is great

I’m not a movie theater snob, I love them all, small discount theaters, artsy fartsy hipster theaters, the massive multi-​screen ones, like this one. This Edwards touts 18 big screens, IMAX too. Hubby and I came in for an early show. Movies before 12 noon are dubbed «economy» shows and cost a cool $ 7.25, yay, more money for lunch after the movie.
We bypassed the concession stands because, well, overpriced, and went straight into our empty theater. We sat smack dab in the middle of the theater. The seats are a bit tight and squeaky but armrests move out of the way, which I always appreciate. The seats were clean as was the floor.
The picture and sound quality were great, no complaints there. Bathrooms are a tad oldish looking, but clean. For the price, I’d definitely come back for more «economy» shows.

Super frustrating to find the phone number online or by calling the listed number. The number is 858−635−7716. Had to call and stay on the phone with a computer for about 20 minutes. Losing a star for that.

Although this theatre is old as hell. The quality is still great. I just wished you could put up the damn cup holders so I can lay my head on my boo’s shoulder.
The regal card here is amazing. Free to sign up and earn them points! Once you hit 15,000 points you can get free tickets!

It’s your standard regal cinemas… They always have the movie you would want to see unlike some other cinemas or the luxury cinemas. Movies also play here for more weeks than other cinemas… So if you want to catch up on a movie you missed, this is the place… I wish they had better seats and more cleaner restrooms !

I finally saw Star Wars, it was a long time coming… Hubbs finally broke me… lol Yes Unilocalers, I am excited about a war movie, but the war movie that I am counting down for is called WARCRAFT!
Big theater, many movie choices playing, big snack bar, and seats are nice. I did not like that the cup holder did not go up so that I cold snuggle with my hubby… maybe mine was broken??? I think that the sound was a little too loud, and I do like to play things loud like right now I am blasting Counting Crows’s Mr. Jones, however it was ear popping loud. Other than that it was a good experiece.

Came in on Christmas Day to catch a movie to enjoy the time we have off. I haven’t ventured to this movie theatre in years. I’ve been spoiled at Regal Carlsbad with their reclining leather seats and tables. Unfortunately they were sold out of good seats for Star Wars. We got lucky here were able to get tickets to Star Wars 3D. It was packed to the brim! The lines were crazy it was a mess in the lobby! We were told to get in line an hour early to get good seats. We decided it was best to come a little earlier seeing how busy it was today. We were the first ones in and snagged the best seats in the house. It was a packed theatre some people ended up in the first few rows.
It’s a great theatre because you get the luxury of 3D IMAX however the other rooms are just not as nice. The seats recline back a little bit if you push yourself back to hold it in that position. You don’t get very much leg room. They offer more arcade games here. It’s also located in a shopping center. There are a few restaurants, stores and across the street is Haggen’s if you want to grab some snacks before the movie. Once again this is in comparison to Regal Carlsbad. The staff here is friendly the concession stand lines moved quickly. Prices at the concession are outrageous but that is typical for all movie theaters. But for the same price in tickets I’ll stick with Regal Carlsbad.

Not a big fan of Edwards theater… I think the seats are uncomfortable! You have so many other good options now and days like Arclight, the recliners at UTC AMC and some sell alcohol inside… Regal kinda needs to step it up…
Anyway, I’ve been here many times. Parking is horrible. Located in a big ass shopping center. Good for food and entertainment.
Full of tweens… As we sat next to a bunch of tweens who talked the whole time. Somebody finally told them to shut up. They just giggled and instead of talking out loud they started whispering.
Probably won’t be back. I prefer AMCs.

Why is this theater always so filthy?! I get that theaters must be difficult to clean and that it’s also some audience member’s fault. But shouldn’t there be some standard for how clean it should be. There are always spilled drinks on the floor, which my mom has tripped on before and fell on the ground. If the showing times for films weren’t always one after the other, the employees would have more time cleaning the theaters!
I also don’t understand why backpacks are allowed in the theater. There is a sign that says they MAY be subject to check. MAY is the keyword. Shouldn’t they always be looked through? Especially these days! Honestly, I don’t feel comfortable when someone walks in with a backpack, and I can’t be the only one.
AND I also have an issue with this outside food rule. I have brought snacks from outside before (small snacks might I add) and was told that I was not allowed to bring it in. Yet people bring full on meals to the theater and they’re not told to do the same? I see people bringing in breadsticks from Os all the time. Why can they bring food in and I can’t?
The only reason why I come here is because it’s big. There are more movie times, more concession lines open, more bathrooms, and more seats. Nothing special, but plenty of issues.

I should probably give more love to this theater because my boyfriend and I come here all the time. The reality is, it’s just ok and sometimes I just don’t like going. Despite the fact that it’s a huge cinema with lots of screens/​showings, it can be a huge clusterf*ck because each theater accommodates tons of people. Prices also vary depending on what type of movie you are seeing (whether it’s standard or IMAX or 3-​D). Due to the fact that this cinema is within a shopping center, the parking here is a mess and we always have to park far away and make a long walk over to the theater. You would think that it would make it easier for us to get out once the movie is over; unfortunately, that’s not the case because everyone has to park far away just like you, making it hard to get out of that crazy lot.
And because there are so many people who go here, you are bound to run into rudeness and lack of courtesy every once in a while. The seats here don’t recline (unlike AMC… which btw, their theaters are a lot smaller and you don’t feel too close for comfort); the only reason why I like reclining seats is because the aisles tend to be wider and you aren’t going to bump into people or have people prop their legs/​feet on your chair while you’re watching the movie.
I will say that one of the positives of this place is that the employees are nice here, the theater is usually clean, and there are plenty of bathrooms. I’ve never had to wait in line for the ladies’ room, which is good.
I’m going to this cinema tomorrow… I’m *hoping* that the theater we end up in isn’t crowded… we’ll see. I’m getting nervous and annoyed just thinking about it.

Pretty much a standard theatre to watch movies. I do enjoy how they had a lot of showings for Spectre, which came out the day before we went and the theatre itself is pretty clean. But like almost all theatres, the prices are way too much for my liking, I mean almost $ 20 for RPX, which isn’t much different than a standard showing. Plus, I was under the air vent and was freezing my butt off. Luckily, I brought a jacket just in case. And I will say parking is a pain in the butt, but I think it just goes with how popular the store area is as a whole, but you may need to park on the other side of the street and walk over.
Overall, if you been to an edwards theatre, you know what to expect.

18 screens! It’s a place you can see just about everything… and in 3-​d for some. We watched «The Martian» in 3-​d. Sofie never saw 3-​d before and loved it. I thought the story was predictable — but the acting and filming was very good. The theater was a nice place to spend a hot afternoon.
What I dislike about theaters are the jerks who climb over the seats, masticate their popcorn loudly and talk as if they are the only ones in the theater.

I have seen this gigantic theater off the highway many times, but have never had the opportunity to try it out until now. I recently moved to Sabre Springs and the last time my parents were in town they really wanted to see Jurassic World. I remembered the Imax and figured JW would be the perfect movie for it… and I was right!
I am going to try to be fair with this review because living in UTC for so long, my boyfriend and I usually went to either Cinepolis in Del Mar or the AMC in La Jolla… both with automatic recliners. It just wouldn’t be a fair comparison.
Price: Holllly cow! It cost a little over $ 50 just for tickets! Given the Imax tickets are always a bit pricier, but that is just crazy. We also ordered a large popcorn to share, two drinks and an icee. That came to about $ 20. When it was all said and done, it cost my dad around $ 75 to take my mom and I on a date to the movies!
Seating: Though not lazy boy reclining seats, I was still happy with the seating. The theaters are extremely large and the seats are a decent size. I did not feel like I was sitting in baseball stadium bleachers and the padding was not worn down. Also, the leveling is great because the people in front of us did not block our view at all.
Imax: Absolutely worth it for the right movie! Dinosaurs were jumping out at us and it totally makes the movie more intense. The clarity was amazing and it really seems like they have used the best technology in this theater.
Overall, I think this is the perfect theater for an adventure-​type movie for the Imax. Otherwise, go to Cinepolis for the luxury for any other type of movie, the cost ends up being the same!
