Express Tire Auto Service Centers

This place has great customer service! I was running late for an appointment but knew I needed my oil checked before the long drive. They were really busy and told me it would take about an hour to change my oil. I couldn’t wait that long but they checked my oil anyway and topped it off for me so I could make it to LA in time for my appointment.

Matt was awesome! Called me today to check in and thank me for going to them! I’ve been here once before because my boyfriend had recommended it! Happily pleased again with everything! I was thinking about selling my Honda Civic but was reassured to keep my car as I would consistently have excellent service at a great price! I liked the fact that I was told everything I may need in the future but not at the moment, reassuring that they weren’t just out for my money. They even took the time to give me a place that they knew would be great to take my old car off of my hands. Overall, will be coming back anytime and every time I need something with my car!

The team at express tire is absolutely fantastic all around. They treated me like family and rescued me from a complete nightmare of a situation I was having elsewhere.
The GM, Chris was extremely communicative despite all the issues I had regarding my insurance company. Once my insurance company came through for the estimate, they repaired it quickly and even changed my oil for me without charging me. Talk about going above and beyond to make a bad situation (that had nothing to do with express tire) better.
The showed me the parts they replaced and went over every step with me. I was truly impressed.
It’s difficult to find a place that isn’t just trying to swindle you or take advantage of you. I was treated with respect and the care of a brother or a father who truly had my best interest in mind.

The manager Chris and all the service techs are always wonderful. I bought my tires here 2 years ago, and their complete oil change every 3k miles for my Toyota at $ 19.99 is impossible to beat ever since. They always inform me of issues they find, whether big or small, but never in a pushy way. My boyfriend bought tires, rims, and had his VW lowered here for an unbeatable price. When you walk in and someone knows your name, its a welcoming feeling. As someone who works in the car industry, customer service and genuine attention to clients is a dying art, but these guys have it full force!

This place is so great that I have been bringing my car here for three years. I deal mostly with Chris and Chris but everyone is wonderful. I especially appreciate the fact that they tell me each time i come in what upcoming maintenance and repairs i am going to have so that i can budget and plan accordingly– this keeps my car in top performance. I drive 2K miles a month and cant afford to have my car out of commission. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for fast, friendly, honest service who enjoys resting easy at night knowing your car is in good hands!

Great job guys, I’ve been bringing my cars here for years. The guys at the shop are super friendly and accommodating. I know that these guys to quality work. Before I started coming here I was going to another place and actually had to bring my vehicle in to Express Tire to have them fix what the other mechanic could not. The General Manager Matt was amazing! He was professional, knowledgable, and most importantly he was very personable. I highly recommend talking with Matt about any of your auto maintenance needs. He is honest, and he will take care of you. He definitely won me over as a repeat customer!

I have to say this post is long over due! I’ve had numerous cars services by these guys and both Chris’ are so easy and friendly to work with. I trust them 100%! They treat their clients with care, truly explain everything they’re working on and why. Most importantly they know I have a toddler and always make sure my vehicle is safe which I’m sure they do with all they’re client vehicles. We’ve had all our servicing done from tires/​breaks to tranny and hose issues. They’re not the same team for a few years ago so don’t read old reviews. I really think these guys are the best at customer service and doing a good mechanical job. Thanks guys!

Carlos & Chris saved the day! I had an obnoxious squeaky rattling sound occurring somewhere in the back end of my car. My dad said to check the spare tire out. Turns out it was totally flat & the stem was broken/​sliced! We rolled up at Express Tire on Grand Ave in Pacific Beach, and Chris & Carlos stopped what they were doing to help me out! Carlos changed out the stem, filled it with air & put the tire back under the car. Thanks to them, the rattling squeak has stopped. Someone should buy them lunch! Thank you again Carlos & Chris!

I’ve found the team at Express Tire (especially Matt) to be great to work with. They had to give me some unexpected bad news on my car, but didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need, walked me through my options and thoroughly showed me & explained the issue.

I have been coming to this location for 3 years now. When you’ve found a group that is as hard working as this team is, you never want to go anywhere else. From the great team management of Chris and Matt to outstanding performance and knowledge and knowhow of Jesus… this is an A+ team. They have always provided services I could afford and never ask to provide services I don’t need. These men are upfront and honest and by far the best shop I’ve had the privilege to go to. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Looking for an honest mechanic in town? Steer clear of this place. Went here to get an oil change, because I had a coupon. What followed was them telling me I needed new brakes, new shocks, a new drive shaft, and due to a small leak in my engine, a whole new engine, that they would gladly sell to me for over $ 2k — more than the car is worth. If I didn’t make these repairs happen, my car, according to their salesperson, was done for — «He would never drive it in this condition». Once I informed them I wasn’t going to spend that on an older car, he followed me out to the parking lot as I was trying to leave with my car, and tried to coerce me into financing all the repairs. Feeling a little panicked after all this that my car might explode, I took it to another mechanic in town and had him do a once over. He let me know, although my car was older, and the repairs wouldn’t hurt — it would still drive fine. Fast forward one year later, and my car still drives fine.
Save yourself the hassle. If you need car repairs, there are plenty of other shops that have real mechanics who are trying to help you and your car, not just make a buck.
*also want to add here, its not the mechanics who are that bad — it’s more the sales staff. The fact that the salesperson barely allowed the mechanic to speak to me set off the first alarm bells to get out of here…

Friendly, fast & Honest service! Matt was extremely helpful and gave me the honest opinion that I really only needed to replace 2 tires (as opposed to the 4 that I thought I needed). He also gave me an estimate of approximately how many miles I have left on the remaining 2 tires that I wasn’t replacing. There was no pushing of any unnecessary services. He listened to what I needed and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of.
The overall service was so fast, I dropped my car off within 30 minutes of calling for a quote (no prior appointment) & had my car back in about 4 hours… the service included 2 new tires, oil & air filter change, new spark plugs & an alignment. Plus they had to call around to about 5 different parts shops to get the oil I need since my Jetta requires some special kind that not many places keep in stock. I highly recommend this location for your car maintenance needs! Thank you Matt & the Express Tire team! You guys rock!

Got some new tires here this past weekend, and I will never come back here again.
The purchasing of tires portion was fine. About what you expect when you come into places like these. I worked with the manager Chris who was very nice and straightforward.
The troubles started about 2 hours into the waiting process. I got a call from a sales guy named Matt, who proceeded to tell me that my radiator reservoir was cracked and that the serpentine belt was badly cracked and needed to be replaced. He said it was so bad that he wouldn’t put his own wife or kids in the car because it was so dangerous.
That’s when the first red flag went off in my head.
I have worked on cars my whole life, but I’m no master mechanic. But I would have noticed any radiator fluid on the floor of my garage, of which there was none. I also know that serpentine belts start to squeal when there going bad and there wasn’t any noise…
I also have a close family friend who is a master auto technician and my car was just there the day before for an AC recharge. He always looks over the entire car to make sure everything works and didn’t mention either of those «emergencies». Now logic would say that if there needs to be repairs on the car, he would offer to fix them because it would be money in his pocket. He also wouldn’t send me off in a dangerous car.
So I called my auto tech and explained the situation; he told me he didn’t see anything wrong when he looked at it but to bring it by and he would check it again.
Well we just looked at it and like he said there was nothing wrong. No cracked radiator reservoir, and no need for a new serpentine belt.
So basically, Matt tried to scare me into getting unneeded work done on my car in an effort to squeeze more money out of me and he did it in the most unethical and dishonest way.
Not to mention that when Chris took me out to look at the car he even said that the belt wasn’t that bad and that he didn’t know for sure if there was a leak.
They also lost one of my lug nuts forcing me to to go to an auto parts store to get a replacement. Why they don’t stock these is a mystery, not like they work on tires and wheels everyday…
They also left my overhead lights on and said my battery was weak because they had to jump my car. So in the 3.5 hrs it took them to change my tires my battery mysteriously got weak, even though it hasn’t been an issue every night when it sits in my garage for 12 – 15 hours? Incompetent and shady.
I just called and spoke with Matt. He called me bud instead of by my name. Incredibly unprofessional. I’m not his friend or his pal, I’m a customer who spent his hard earned money at this establishment. He defended himself and then said he would put me on the phone with the manager. Who was of course busy and would have to call me back. Sure Matt, I’m sure Chris is too busy to talk to me.
The sad thing is that not only will I never bring this car back to this store but we also have two more cars that need tires.
I guess we’ll be going to a competitor for those.
Chris, I get that you guys always try to upsell another service and that’s fine, but unethical and dishonest tactics like these will lose you customers and repeat business. I’ll also be filing a complaint with the BBB.
TL;DR.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
— Took over 3.5 hours to change four tires.
— Drained my battery so badly it needs to be jumped.
— lost one of my lug nuts and made me go get another one at an auto parts store.
— tried to sell me services that I didn’t need by saying it was too dangerous to drive when it wasn’t.
The sales guys here are shady as hell. They try to sell you services you don’t need and do it by scaring you into it. NEVER coming back.

Highway robbery.
So I go in to get a diagnostic because my car is acting up, and they do it for $ 60. Fine, I expected that. Costs $ 94 at the Toyota dealership so Ok. But the diagnostic determined that all I really needed was a battery change. They said they said it would cost over $ 100 plus labor, so I said thx but I’ll just go to Costco. So they said ok, we’ll wave the diagnostic fee because we’re doing work on it and cut the labor in half. Great, I say ok because I have less than $ 200 in my account and I can’t afford all that stuff they agreed to take out. Total before taxes is $ 130 they say.
Well 1 hour later I am charged $ 241 dollars for a battery change, the diagnostic, and the labor. They say they never agreed to take it out and that since they had already done work on my car it was officially theirs until I paid. Pissed but completely in a corner, I tell them I get paid Saturday. They say they can’t release the car until I pay. I can’t pay. So I walk home the 5 miles in midday heat and beg my parents over the phone for money so that I can pay the car, get to school that day, work that night, and pay them back. Behind on rent now too. $ 110 is a ton of money when you’re a college student.
Fucking terrible.

Last weekend some buddies and I planned on taking a trip down to San Diego (we live in LA) for our fantasy football draft. My car made it down alright on Friday but just a few minutes into the drive back on Sunday, smoke started pouring out of the front and coolant was leaking. The drive was already awful due to how hungover we all were but this made for quite a difficult Sunday.
After getting towed by AAA over to their garage, the employees at Express made it very easy and clear as to how they would go about fixing the car. Matt in particular was extremely helpful and honest — definitely made the process much easier and bearable. If I lived remotely close to SD, I would take my car to them for any need. Highly recommend.

If I could put 6 stars I would. The manager there helped me out big time. Someone crazy person knifed my tire while I was away and I brought it to Express Tire in PB. The manager took a look at the tire and said he could fix it, no problem. They were very busy with many cars but they took care of me and got me back on the road in about a half hr. Also, they charged me a very reasonable price to fix it. GREAT SERVICE and prompt! This is why I use them for all of my automotive needs. Thanks again guys and keep up the good work, I will not forget about the help you provided while I was in need!

Called the guy working here today asking if he could take a look at my tire because I had a nail in it. Im also looking to purchase new tires in the next few months.
He was very rude and condescending as a lot of men are to women asking about auto services. Had no interest in me coming in, therefore I took my business elsewhere.
