I love this place!!! I have always gone here to purchase either incense, candle holders, scarves, anything that catches my eye at the moment. Actually, everything catches my eye but I can only fit so much in my small apartment. Lol! What I really wanted to write this review was on Cynthia the Tarot Card reader. She was so amazing and very sweet hearted! I was going through a major change in my life and ready to move out of San Diego. A couple of weeks before I made my major move I accidentally ran into her when she was about to leave in the evening. She offered to do a reading for me and to my surprise she was on point in everything she said. I left very happy. The week before I moved I decided to see her a second time, and it turned out that everything that I was worried about moving to a city where I knew no one didn’t turn out bad at all. She gave me some advice and with that advice I luckily found that best room mate ever with much in common liberal, hsp and an empath. My room mate was so excited to meet me too! Now that I have moved out of town I will definitely be calling her again in the future. Cynthia is just the sweetest person you will ever meet, and I guarantee it you will feel like giving her lots of hugs!

Definitely worth a trip to see this store. I find unique gifts, and affordable too. Yesterday I decided on a tarot reading. They were running a special to introduce a new reader, Cynthia.
It was exactly what I needed. She nailed my situation accurately and gave me excellent feedback. Better than anything I could get from years of therapy!
Highly recommend and I will definitely go back.

Such beautiful items! I LOVED the cards. They are tree-​free made and full of wisdom. Also, I wisely paid $ 10 for a 10 minute psychic reading! It was my first time and so enlightening that I extended it for 15 minutes more! She writes everything down and let’s you keep her notes. I would highly recommend!!! She invited me to her belly dancing classes and I look forward to attending those too! I’m so glad I stopped in today!

We came here looking for our first singing bowl. They have many options and we were graciously helped by Ryan. He was very patient with us. He was also very informative and gave us a crash course on singing bowls/​chakra. A nice establishment with a large variety, nice stone collection as well. This is a place which has the most beautiful furniture and gifts for any price range. You feel so good when your there the energy is so positive and welcoming and lovely. This place has truly a unique flavor with Physics, tarot readings, belly dancing, massage, energy healing, yoga, meditation, and lots of classes. I get all my gifts there and enjoy the ambiance.

unfortunately, the owner or manager has a terrible attitude and temper… not a place to frequent if he is in a mood… he can spoil anybody’s experience… so disappointing to have a person like this ruin your day… he certainly needs to chill or get some help… perhaps, meditation should be in his future

The Eye of Buddha is a wonderful place for gifts, healing and connection to a spiritual community. I have been teaching yoga here for over 2 years and the owners are so sweet and generous and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. I love the energy in the store and encourage you to come by and enjoy all the Eye of Buddha has to offer the uptown community! Namaste :)

This place is huge with a lot of items to choose from! You can easily loose track of time browsing through! I’ve been here a few times, but I have to be honest. I haven’t bought anything more than incense. I just don’t need any statues, or ornate wood furnishings. Plus, many of the items are out of my budget. But, they have a lot of items I want!!! The staff is nice and friendly and they don’t mind if you just browse around. It seems they also offer yoga and meditation class, and card readings if you’re into that.

A good friend of mine took me here as a Christmas present to meet with Anthony. I thank her for that :) I didn’t say a word to him when I sat down and he immediately began working with the spirits. Anthony was on point of my past and present life as well as what I hope for in the future. I’m usually skeptical about these things but how did he (they) know. I had my questions answered and I walked out happier, positive and relieved. Definitely worth it.

This place is great! It carries such a calm healing energy. The sweet lady that has been there both times I have, has been so kind. There are lots of fun and unique things to buy, I will definitely be back when I can make some purchases. And sometime I’ll take part in the meditations they offer as well.
Great place for all your spiritual needs. Highly recommend at least stopping in.

I came for Zana, a gifted psychic my friend had been raving about for years. She is a very sweet, awesome individual that worked on clearing out energetic stagnation in my chakras. She uses stones on each of the 7 points and cleanses the space & your energy with some ancient herbs burnt. Not my usual forte, but was a cool experience. I heard she is not working here anymore… where did she go? Zana Paradise you are awesome! Thanks! =)

Great place to buy gifts! They have a new selection every time I enter the store! Best selection of incense I have ever seen and handmade jewelry. I have taken some classes in Energy healing, as well as had a psychic reading upstairs. Be sure to ask about yoga and the the things that go on upstairs bc I probably have shopped here 5 times before I was aware of that!

I love this place, the variety of products is great. The owner is friendly and helpful, I never go there without buying something. I wish the products were less expensive and more affordable.

We randomly poked our heads in this store while doing business next door… and walked out with the perfect gifts for loved ones. The owner was so helpful and we were hooked. In fact, we enjoyed the experience so much, we bought ourselves the very same gift;)

Eye of Buddha is far and away one of my favorite ways to waste half an hour in University Heights. True, I’ve never needed anything they keep in stock – statues, ornate and expensive wooden furniture, audio recordings of monks chanting, ten thousand vaguely religious knickknacks – but that doesn’t mean I haven’t wanted everything.
The staff is helpful and generally relaxed about this perusal without intent to purchase, though you should definitely pick up a token to take away, anyway. I am a fan of their tiny carved stash boxes and fragile wood roses, and have been eyeing their beautiful stonework through several visits to San Diego.
In other words: Yay! I’m a fan. Four stars!

Fun place to shop for Buddhist and New Age kitsch. The products are bit on the spendy side, but the rating is for the friendly and helpful staff. I often wander in just to play with stuff – notably the gigantic singing bowl they have on display – and I am always treated with courtesy. I think the owners may be Tibetan and they are always helpful and knowledgeable.
I recently purchased a statue of Ganesh for good luck in my place of business. The owner helped me pick it out, and since I was also buying a pricey candle holder he gave me a 15% discount. Unfortunately, Ganesh only lasted 3 days before somebody stole it. Clearly it is a good looking statue. I returned to Eye of Buddha to get another, and jokingly requested that a protection spell be placed on it to prevent the second one from also being stolen. The shopkeeper immediately handed my statue to the psychic on staff, Zana, and she chanted and rubbed some scented oil over it. She handed it back to me and said, «There! He is all yours now. No one will touch him! Ganesh says he would like to be placed near an area of money – he will bring you the most fortune there.» I did not ask which country Zana was from but I would not be surprised if she was an authentic Romanian gypsy from a Bram Stoker-​esque reality, nor would I ever dare piss her off, just in case she deals in curses as well as charms. Just kidding, she is a super sweet lady and quite the perceptive person, if you are looking for a fun card reading.
Now, I can’t think of another place that would take my request so seriously, or cheerfully speak about their merchandise in the third person. Believe what you will, but I am in possession of a charmed Ganesh and that’s what I call service.

I was just going for a quick walk to the ATM and decided to vary my route back. As I rounded the corner and saw this place, I was enticed inside by an invisible hand. I was instantly delighted by all manner of sight and smell as I walked in. I was greeted by friendly people and told that in celebration of their 5 years in business, everything in the store was 25% off through the end of the month. At first I thought I might just have a good browse to get ideas for decorating my apartment and then come back when I was really ready to do some serious purchasing.
Then I found the scarf room.
My goodness, there are SHELVES of PASHMINAS.
So many scarves…
It was game over at that point. I limited myself to one scarf, believe you me, this is just the beginning.

My mom and I drove by here, and due to her fascination with Buddhism and Tibet, she insisted I stop the car and explore this place. I was taking her out for her birthday anyway, so why not? She was so delighted to see all sorts of jewelry, clothing, statuettes, and all sorts of other goods from Tibet, Nepal, India, Thailand, and other parts of south and southeast Asia. She had a good chat with one of the owners. He was very knowledgeable and helped her find exactly what she was looking for. She ended up buying about $ 100 worth of amulets and jewelry and he gave us a 15% discount. My mom shops for items like this all the time, and she felt the pricing was very fair.
The thing I appreciated most was how honest he was. My mom asked him if they sold any zse beads, and he replied back that he only has an imitation one. Authentic zse beads can sell for a lot of money, so I really liked that he didn’t try to swindle us.
Oh, and he gave me a certificate for a free 30-​minute relaxation massage at Sun-​Moon Massage, located within their store. I scheduled my appointment already… can’t wait!

I dithered between a 3 to 4 star, but I decided to be nice and give a four star (albeit my rating is actually a 3.5).
I am all for good vibes and Eastern/​Western Asian knick-​knacks. I’ve always passed by this place, but I’ve never actually *been* in it. It definitely did not disappoint. LOTS of goodies such as: Buddhist statues, lovely clothing, furniture, gemstones, chakra-​like scrolls, pashminas, scarves, jewelry (which I am HUGELY a fan of!), candles, oils, incense, etc… the list goes on. I can’t explain it all here in this Unilocal review; you just have to go and check it out yourself.
The people who work here are super, super nice and helpful. If you ask questions they patiently help you. Because this place is so huge, you can spend hours in here observing every little item they have to offer (at least for me who’s actually into this stuff).
I do have a couple gripes that I need to mention. One is the parking. It is kinda hard to get here, especially if you go at a busy hour. Their lot is small and you might find yourself driving around the block to find a spot. Not a huge deal and definitely not the store’s fault. But the one thing I couldn’t get over was… pricing. Personally when I was here some of the items were very overpriced, and it was not just the Buddha-​themed items. Granted, there are occasionally deals (be sure to subscribe to their mailing list!) and some items can be marked down anywhere from 50 – 90 percent… usually it’s the clothing items.
Now, I’ve walked into a few Buddhist-​themed shops here in SD, and I’ve noticed that the pricing is generally the same. Maybe I’m a real cheapskate, but I’ve been to some New Age shops (which are known to be overpriced in general) in the OC that have the same laughing Buddhas and Bodhisattvas/​Quan Yins for much cheaper. For example, I found one Quan Yin (the exact same one I have in my personal bedroom altar) at the store marked for $ 16/18…I actually bought this very same statuette at a New Age bookshop for $ 7.95 (which at the time I bought it I thought was overpiced because 1.) it was from a New Age store and 2.) it was in the OC).
Anyway, just my little spiel. It won’t stop me from coming back to this store, though; it’s probably one of the better ones in SD, truthfully.
