Huge disappointment. The machines are minimal or not working properly so I’ve since switched gyms. Upon canceling my membership, I was told I’d be charged an additional month and THEN the cancellation would be effective. Okay. I had to personally contact their financial branch to return the $ 30 they withdrew recently for what I was told was a «renewal fee.» Come to find out, it’s an «enhancement fee», which basically covers upkeep for the gym, so I wouldn’t be geting my money back. My question is, the place looks like shit, smells horrid and has no air conditioning… What upkeep am I paying for? Anyway, thanks or the rip-off, guys. I suggest you go elsewhere.

this gym is so sketchy! saw a deal about it on groupon, called them to make sure it was real they told me to go in and buy it in person better not using groupon! well then at sign up they said I had access to all family gyms! go to the family gym in del sol after signing up with Main Street family gym and they won’t let me in because they aren’t the same company anymore! apparently they decided to change their name 2 days after I signed up! when my contract clearly said FAMILY gym! piece of crap! I don’t understand how this is possible! don’t go here piece of shit just want to get money by lying to people!!!

I am not a fan of this gym. I went a couple of times to check it out and maybe consider changing from Borderview YMCA. I was not impressed. I stay to lifting weights. The machines they had where sub par, so where the free-weights. I am not sure if the weights differentiate from gym to gym but the ones here felt a lot lighter. Even in the machines. I was able to max out on most of the machines, and beat some personal records with the free-weights. It was flattering but useless and i felt cheated. I am not a «strong«guy but this was just too easy, which it shouldn’t be. The guys that where working out there where older guys, which looked like if they where trying to impress everyone on how much they could lift, which was not much. But there was way too much testosterone going around. I personally go to the gym and not focus on anyone else, I am there to do my business and I don’t look or bother anyone as no one should do to me. The guys kept looking at me when I would do my set, it was uncomfortable. Some of their machines are around the main floor where they have their Zumba classes, which is annoying as hell. The music is way too loud which was drowning out my headphone music. Plus, most of the machines where taken by creepy old guys staring at the Not so attractive old ladies doing the zumba class. Overall it was not a great experience, loud music, creepy members and crappy machines. I will gladly stay with the YMCA and pay a little more. Also FYI the YMCA offers financial assistance, they have a pool, lockers and a new and great facility. They offer classes for kids, adults, and elderly. I have no kids but I do love their gym. Also I am tired of getting the Family Gym Ads left on my apartment door, car windshield and doors as well. They do nothing but generate trash.

Giving 4 because its not the best possible but its good. Cons: 1. Only one type of each weight machine so you have to wait and comeback to one when one you want is open.(between 8pm to 10pm) 2. About 1⁄3 of the space is an empty floor used for Zumba classes.(That may be a plus for some but I think more machines in some of that space would be better.) 3. Its pretty warm in there, AC is on but you can barely feel it. 4. No locker rooms/Showers. Pros: 1. Friendly Staff 2. Pretty clean 3. Everything works. 4. inexpensive membership

I’ve been a member of Family Gym for about 6 months now and have always gone to the location in downtown. I recently moved to Chula Vista and decided to try out this location. It’s a small location but the equipment is newer. It’s also a lot cleaner than the other locations I’ve been to. The staff are kind and helpful. I really like this location it’s by far my favorite.

I go to this Family Gym and the one on Main St. This one is small but everything is new and when I go it’s always dead. After 5 there’s Zumba so that’s when t’s packed. The only bad thing is the kids who go in the free weight area don’t pick up after themselves. 5,7 and 10 pound dumbells everywhere! Their mommy didn’t teach them manners.
