Fast Action Moving & Storage

From beginning to end, we had a terrible time with Fast Action. It started when we visited their shop to buy boxes. One of their drivers took me aside and offered to sell me boxes for much less than the company rates. I just had to meet him down the road a little ways and bring cash. Uh, no thanks. On moving day they sent three guys and a small truck even though I warned them I had over 10,000 lbs of stuff and would require a big truck. One guy was okay, but the other two were horrible, trying to intimidate me into helping lift and buy carpet cleaning services from the family business. They took 10 hours to move our 3 bedroom from Mission Valley to Serra Mesa, partly because they had to make two trips in the small truck and partly because they were slow as molasses and did not diguise the fact that they were pushing for overtime. Even so, they didn’t move a significant amount of stuff and we spent hours finishing up with our car. In the end, they intimidated me into giving them tips: I really didn’t think they were going to leave and $ 40 seemed like the easiest way to get rid of them without worrying about a brick through the window or worse. Oh, they also damaged quite a few of our things: they used sticky packing tape on some stained wooden furniture, broke an antique wooden room divider, and somehow dented one whole side of a metal file cabinet. It looks like someone hit it with a baseball bat. I didn’t try to get them to replace our stuff; I had had enough.

I would never use them again, nor recommend them to anyone. They showed up 2 hours late & refused to give me a discount because their «prices were already low.» I paid $ 90 per hour and there are two other companies that charge the same amount.
Some of my furniture got damaged. You can definitely find another company who will do a better job at the same price or cheaper.

I would never use this company again. The movers sat around and took smoking breaks every half hour. They did not attempt to hide the fact that they were trying to stretch out the time to charge us for the highest number of hours possible. When I said I was not going to pay increased hours for them to sit around and tell stories to one another, they said they were holding my belongings hostage until I paid them the amount they thought they deserved right then and there before the job was even over. They also insisted on parking illegally when there were plenty of other places to park when their contract says the client has to pay for any parking tickets they receive. I told them I was not willing to take on that risk and they sat down on the curb and said they refused to move anything further until I consented for them to park illegally. I called and complained to the owner the next day and he responded by saying that he stands behind the word of his movers that they never took any breaks and that I asked them to park illegally.

Fast action moving and storage is a moving and storage company! They are a business! They are located in the United States of America! They are owned by human beings! Their name is fast action moving and storage! That is their name! They get paid to move your belongings from one place to another! They might steal your underpants! If they stole my underpants, they would see a lot of nervous streaks that look like bacon strips! When the aliens come to take over the planet, they will hire fast action moving and storage! Fast action moving and storage singlehandedly killed off the dinosaurs!

Most Horrible moving experience of my life!!! These people are crooks. It took them 15 hours to move us out of our 2bedroom apartment because the movers did everything possible not to work. Every five minutes they were taking coffee breaks, breaks to smoke, make calls, go to the bathroom. We hired movers but ended up doing all the moving ourselves. My 60 year old mother was carrying heavier boxes They had ridiculous hidden fees that are only disclosed when they arrive at your door, and half of our items are broken or damaged or didn’t even show up and they refuse to refund us any of our money. The owner of the company is rude and has horrible customer service skills. Stay away from these crooks. Use a reputable company and save yourself the hassle.

I signed up on Unilocal for the sole purpose of writing this negative review. I have used Fast Action twice; I had them move me out of my place, hold my stuff in storage for several months, then move into my new place.
In brief, I am frustrated/​mad at this company for 1) providing deceitful and inaccurate estimates, and 2) taking longer than expected, thereby increasing their own pay given that they are paid by the hour.
In detail… When I first contacted them, I wanted to know exactly how I would be charged, they said: travel time x 2, plus time it takes to move your stuff into the truck. «That’s it, you sure?», I asked. «Yes, that’s it, NOTHING else.»
Well, they omitted the fact that I would pay for the time it took to put it into storage. Given their rate of $ 130 an hour for three guys, it took them 2 hours to put into storage, so that’s $ 260 dollars extra. I was told that my stuff would fit into 3 to 4 vaults for storage at $ 50 dollars a vault. It ended up being 5 vaults, so it was $ 50 to $ 100 more per month than expected, over 8 months that would equal $ 400-​$ 800 more than the estimate.
They are paid by the hour, so if they move a bit slower and stretch a 45 minute job into 2 hours, then «whoops, I guess we underestimated, that’ll be an extra $ 170».
They did not tell me that there’s an extra 3% to use credit card. I had to run to the bank to get cash while they waited.
To schedule for a delivery, I made 9 phone calls and got the «we’re on another line» recording. Finally reached someone on the 10^th call.
They said that their movers would ARRIVE at noon. They arrived at almost 2pm.
Even though my small amount of stuff only takes an hour to move, they charged me 3 hours time to unload from storage into the truck. When they showed up and said that moving time should be TWO hours, I knew they were aiming to screw me so I said, «if you do it in 1 hour, I’ll tip you guys $ 90.» Lo and behold, it was easily unloaded in one hour (rather than two) and I tipped them $ 90 rather than pay an extra $ 130 for the two hours they had planned on charging me at the outset. (One hours worth of work can easily be stretched into two hours).
My final criticism (there’s more but I won’t go on) is that when I asked if they would take good care of my carpet at the new place, i.e. bring shoe covers («booties»), their attitude was bad: «hey, we’re just movers, we don’t have that kinda stuff, we just move your stuff, if you want us to wear shoe covers than you need to supply them.» Which is what I did; I went to Home Depot and purchased $ 50 worth of adhesive plastic carpet-​protector material and $ 10 worth of booties for them to wear. So on top of the $ 900 moving bill, I paid $ 90 in tip and $ 60 in supplies. Instead of a $ 150 a month in storage fees as initially estimated, it ended up being $ 250 a month.
Am I pissed? Yes. IN SUMMARY, it’s not so much the cost as the inaccurate estimate quotes and the lack of control; since they charge by the hour, you can see how they take more time to exceed the estimated time (e.g. 1 or 2 extra hours to move the stuff) in order to make more money. Any other problems on top of that, e.g. my having to purchase shoe covers from Home Depot or their arriving 2 hours late, add insult to injury. I hope my detailed review makes them lose business.

Fast Action… not so much. This company may need to rethink its name or, in the alternative, work harder to live up to the «fast action» one would expect when hiring these movers.
$ 90/​hour = no incentive to get er done. totaling a five+ hour move for a 1bedroom apartment originally quoted as a 3 to 3.5 (at most) hours. In fact, the movers had to cancel their afternoon job as there was not enough time for another once they finally finished with my move.
The two men assigned for my move were prompt, friendly and handled all of my possessions with care. However, my complaint is they were SO slow! Granted, I lived on the 3^rd floor of a building with no elevator, but the company knew that upon first contact and supposedly factored such in their quote. I truly understand and appreciate the hard labor these men do for a living but sheesh! Maybe they should overestimate rather than underestimate so as to avoid disappointment. I ended up moving my boxes down to the truck so we could get the show on the road.
Once the truck was finally packed, the movers did not know my new address and obviously had no idea how to get there (even though I provided all the information when scheduling) so they asked if they could just follow me rather than taking down directions. I obliged as I just wanted to get a move on (pun intended). It took every ounce of restraint to stay calm as I tried to keep my speedometer at 20mph so as not to lose the moving truck and subsequently all of my belongings… we finally got up to 30mph once we made it to the freeway. UGH, I thought I would be pulled over for impeding traffic given the speed at which this truck was moving.
Upon arrival at my new place… the turtle pace maintained. Again, I helped with the job I was paying them to do just to get it over with before the next day’s sunrise.
Once the truck was finally empty, it was time to settle up. I reach for my wallet, pull out my credit card, and that’s when they drop the bomb.“cash is preferred and there is a 15% charge for using a card”. UNREAL! Had they shared that information beforehand. like say when they made me sign 15 pages of waivers before beginning the job… I could have gone to a bank (not that it would have made much of a difference since the original estimate was 2+ hours shy of the actual moving time). At this point, I am sick of these movers and want them gone. So, after voicing my opinion on their secret credit card policy, I agree to pay the extra charge. Not so fast Monique… the guy has to call in to verify my credit card and wait for final authorization. All I wanted was to get them out of my house and even that took WAY too long.
When you’re looking to hire movers if you come across this company… NOT SO FAST… I strongly urge you to consider another.

Don’t like to waste time writing reviews, but this company is one of the worst I dealt with. The manager (Chris) is very unprofessional, only says half of the truth or information, and then you find out the rest on your moving day: such as you are charged additionally if you use credit card or if your moving time exceeds 8h. They gave me higher rate per hour on paper than when I called to book them, they charged me extra for storage with no reason etc etc. Been on the phone with them for weeks before I can get it resolved. Do not get fouled by the good reviews on their own website as I did. I would highly recommend AGAINST doing business with this company.

I received a quote over the phone, which seemed high since I was moving a half-​empty one bedroom apartment. I was only given a couple days notice to move, so I went with them. They guys showed up on time with the wardrobe boxes. When they arrived, I was hit with an extra charge if I paid by credit card. Luckily, I had someone available to go to the ATM for me. SLOW! Two or three small boxes on a dolly. They were really milking the time. It was very frustrating. When arriving at my new place, they refused to use the elevator pads. They were able to unload the boxes in half the time it took to load the boxes to come in 15 minutes under the time quote. At least none of my stuff was damaged.
The hard part was getting my deposit back. I had to call for two weeks. They never refunded it from my credit card (guess they don’t know how) and finally mailed me a check. I wouldn’t use them again, especially without an in-​home quote and a guarantee to knock off the deposit fee from the final price.

Yes, Fast Action Moving & Storage is really good! I hired them for my move from Chula Vista, CA to El Cajon, CA and they seriously got the job DONE. I would definitely use them in the future!

Very friendly and reliable. The guys showed up right on time and took care of moving all my boxes and furniture from San Diego to Irvine. The cost actually even came out below what they had quoted me. They did such a great job! I would recommend them to anyone.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I used my credit card to pay for my move and one of the employees stole the number and used it to buy over 500 dollars worth of auto parts and phone accessories! I called the manager to tell him and he told me I was being unreasonable and he wasn’t going to do anything even though my credit card company gave me the name and address of the person that used my card. Very frustrating experience since I paid 450 dollars for my move and tipped the guys 60 bucks and all I got out of the whole things was a bunch of fraudulent charges. I have used starving students movers before and they were much better. And they didn’t steal my credit card info.

These guys showed up 10 minute before they were supposed to. They provided everything from blankets and dollies at no charge to wardrobe boxes which was HUGE! Those things are expensive! I moved maybe 15 miles away and the entire move took me 4 hours. I have been in San Diego almost 4 years and have moved 3 times. They were BY FAR the best movers I have ever used.
The price was great, they came in a huge truck with everything and the movers were very professional. They also have a carpet cleaning service so they took one of my area rugs with them and it was delivered back to me in a few weeks.
I will most definitely be using them again and would honestly suggest them to anyone about to move.
Moving can be such a stressful time and these guys made everything so easy for me, it was unreal. Best moving experience… EVER!
