Fatboy’s has legitimately never failed me when it comes to sandwiches. I’ve taken numerous friends there and they would agree, the service is always spot on. I highly recommend calling ahead, as the line in store can be long and thus a longer wait. The sandwiches are always made with fresh ingredients and the staff seems happy to make any changes/substitutions requested. The only downside is that there is little parking near the store, but it’s North Park so you really can’t dock them for that. What’s also nice is they carry plenty of beer and soda that you usually would have a hard time finding in San Diego. I’m a transplant from Michigan and they always have Faygo and Bell’s beer available.

I’m sure glad these guys put Doritos and/or Cheetos on the sandwich for you because it saves me the trouble of doing it myself and having other patrons look at me like I’m some kind of 30-something man-boy. Friendly service, great sandwiches and a good selection of craft sodas to go with them, I opted for a butterscotch soda and it was the right choice. Sandwich-wise I went with the Cheesy Heaven: roast beef, American, cheddar, nacho cheese sauce and nacho cheese Doritos on an onion roll(+ veggies). It came with a pickle and a side of potato salad. I’ll be back to try more of their meat/chip/gluttony combinations; I may need to look into drilling a new hole in my belt. Stay tuned.

I have passed this place many times and wow what a treat this place is. I had the hot poppa loaded with all the peppers toppings and comes with hot chetos in the middle .This was so fresh and tasty, its now my near favorite place for a fresh sandwich. Not a lot of parking but the friendly girl was real nice and has a lot to chose from including thrifty ice cream

The food is absolutely on point, and they DELIVER! We ordered delivery and the quote was 45 – 60 minutes, it arrived in like 30min. I’m pretty sure we ordered almost everything on the menu, lol. Hot Mamma was insanity, an absolute party in my mouth, ordered it on a Onion roll. Potato salad was okay, nothing special though. The chili cheese dogs were delicious and I could eat two of them, but I’m not that big of a fat kid yet… My friend had the Pastrami sandwich and was a happy man. Can’t wait to eat here again, thank you Fatboy’s from a happy Fatboy’s stomach.

I needed to grab lunch on the go, so I ordered a sandwich to go from Fatboy’s. Easy process and I was able to detail exactly what I wanted. When I went to pick the order up, the gentleman behind the counter told me that my veggie sandwich shouldn’t have been charged for avocado, so he gave me extra and took off the charge! A nice unexpected surprise. Sandwich was delicious(as always), service was more than I would have asked for and online ordering was seamless

First timer. It was good. But not great. Ordered turkey, avo, bacon, with lettuce, mayo, mustard, pickle, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. On squaw bread. It came with Swiss as well. It was just super bland. The bacon was bland, which was hard to wrap my head around. And my husbands Ruben, was definitely not hot. Not even luke warm. I don’t think we will be returning.

These guys have become my boys because I frequent this spot so much because they make such a damn good sandwich. I used to live in La Mesa and I found this amazing deli that served an outstandingggggg turkey, bacon, swiss, avocado sandwich. I mean, it really stuck out and is still very memorable. Eventually, I moved the North Park and had to try the local fare. Sandwiches are a big deal and are taken seriously. I chose the North Park Club and its just the most amazing thing ever. My favorite sandwich of all time. It would stand toe to toe with the epic sandwich from the La Mesa deli I mentioned earlier. It turns out… The main man here is the son of the woman who owned the deli in La Mesa! This place is great. A sandwich for any palate. Top notch staff and service. Unbeatable quality. A daunting selection of drinks both alcoholic and non. So many varieties of chips itll take you the year to try them all. A jewel to our neighborhood and community here in North Park. If youre a sandwich lover like myself or just have a massive hunger and need something fresh and delicious you cant ever go wrong with Fatboys. Enjoy the shaded patio area outside and enjoy your food while watching the locals and taking in this most excellent San Diego weather. This is one of my happy places.

My coworker has been raving about this place and we’ve been talking about how we need to go here and today we finally made that happen. We gathered a bunch of orders and made the call. We found parking pretty easy but it’s north park, parking around here can be tough. Immediately the candy caught my attention(the sour belts in particular) and I could not help myself before I knew it I grabbed an empty bag and started opening the containers and helping myself. The candy is by weight which came out to around $ 5. Damn you sour belts and sour watermelons! Anyway, the guy ringing us up was very nice and allowed us to split our transaction without any fuss. I ordered the Hot Poppa($ 8.99) on a french roll — holly crap this sammy is huge. Something about that cream cheese and hot cheetos made this sandwich slaaammmmmmmin. I was only able to finish half of my sandwich, I was defeated. I’ll be saving the other half for dinner tonight. I highly recommend the Hot Poppa especially if you love hot cheetos like I do. You won’t be disappointed.

LOVE this place! Awesome drink selection, and the sandwiches are epic every time! I love how you can can get anything in a wrap. The Super BLT with green peppers, black olives, cucumbers & sprouts added(no extra charge) on an onion roll is amazing! Delivery is pretty fast too – quoted 45mins to an hour, got it in less than 30mins

Great sandwich. I do love a deli in a corner store. There’s a great selection of root beer. They have several sandwiches with cream cheese which I’ll have to be courageous and try sometime.

I died and went to sandwich heaven! I really like Fatboy’s. Yeah, the name is pretty cool too. I came here for the sandwiches, but Fatboy’s has a ton of other random things that make it a winner! First, the sandwich. I had their Sky Park on wheat, which comes with Boar’s Head chicken, jack cheese, and bacon. However, since they have a huge list of veggies to throw on it, I took advantage of it. My concoction was so so good! I impressed myself. I am more impressed on how they put it together(I would have done a crap job). I also had their potato salad, based on their recommendation. The sandwich also comes with a pickle. You know it’s real when it comes with a pickle! After I took my order, I walked around the store and noticed that they have a crazy selection of root and ginger beers. Seriously, if I wasn’t trying to not drink soda, I would have bought a few bottles. They have my favorite, Boylan’s. It was hard, but I resisted the temptation. Next time I don’t think I will be so lucky! I also grabbed two cookies. One is a rare packaged cookie called The Complete Cookie. I’ve had one before, but I haven’t found a place where they sold them. It’s my lucky day! The second cookie is a local favorite, a birthday cake cookie from The Cravory. Ridiculous. Highly recommended! Don’t worry so much about parking! There is a parking garage down the street that is super cheap! This place is worth it!

A grab-n-go style deli with made to order sandwiches and a wide selection of snacks and sodas. Back when I used to work in North Park, this used to be my go-to lunch place. The guys who worked there allowed you to place phone orders so I could order my sandwich and pick it up on my 15. Their sandwiches are amazing, but a little on the pricier side because they are made with better quality meat(none of this lunchmeat junk). The Super bird and jerky turkey were my favorites because they were unique, and not just another sandwich you can get anywhere. Most of these sandwiches come with a unique sauce that sets them apart from the others on the menu, and from those at other sandwich stores. Although the sandwiches are so big that I usually only eat half, and I have a pretty hearty appetite too! I wish they were open later at night as well, but we can’t have everything.

Fatboy’s! Ohhhh you tasty mofo you! So we were driving around & suddenly it hit me… I wanted a good sandwich & I wanted it NOW! I jumped on Unilocal to check out a good deli in the area. I was a tad nervous I wouldn’t find a good deli open with it being closer in the evening but boy oh boy… Fatboy’s to the rescue. I decided on the Jerk Turkey. It comes with avacado, smoked chipotle Gouda, & chipotle aioli… of course with your choice of bread & veggies.(I asked for honey mustard on the side). You also get a choice of potato salad or macaroni salad. We picked the potato salad. Now this is a warm sandwich & it did not disappoint! Idk if I was starving or what but I gobbled this sandwich up so quickly… I was sooooo mad that I decided to share half with the bae. Epic fail. The sandwhich was big enough to share sure but after one bite I knew I should have gotten my own lol. The flavors went together so well. Everything was perfect. Even my honey mustard… It had a slight spice to it so it made my sandwich even better! The potato salad was surprisingly good too! Its more on the Mayo side just fyi. The only problem I have here is the fact you have to purchase your chips & beverage at a convenience store price… because thats just what this place is… a deli & convenience store. For ONE sandwich, two drinks, two chips, & two The Cravory cookies… our total was about $ 22. I wasn’t too happy about that. The sandwich & pot salad was definitely good so I will be returning… Well at least until I find a better or more inexpensive deli. Thanks Unilocal

This is your perfect local, eccentric deli with big affordable sandwiches. They have a large selection including sandwiches with chips inside, even Hot Cheetos. That’s the hot poppa you see everyone posting about here. I got the fat boy special. For 8.99 it was a big sandwich that I had to finish later on. The place now has some outside seating in the shade. You’ll see, it has some of the best selection for chips and soda because it’s right inside a convenience story. Great place.

Great sandwiches, snacks and drinks. The location is nice too. Some outside seating but nothing too comfortable. It is more of a grab and go spot. I would say my biggest beef(pun intended) would be the size of the bread compared to the amount of toppings. I am not crazy about a sandwich. that makes me unhinge my mouth to consume the bread, and not the toppings. It was tasty though. So still 4⁄5 stars.

The Hot Italian is my lunchtime go-to but everything I’ve ever had from this place has been amazing. Awesome selection of Boar’s Head deli stuff, beer, snacks & uncommon soda add up to an A+++ grade — with bonus points awarded for selling the biggest gummy sharks I’ve ever seen! Keep doing it right, Fatboy’s.

Ordered delivery via GrubHub: North Park Club Sandwich on an Onion Roll. I thought there would be lettuce, tomato and onion on the sandwich but there wasn’t. Maybe you need to specifically order that(?). It was really good though. I ate the whole thing. Delivery was very quick! I’ll definitely order from them again. Overall — good quality roll, turkey, bacon, cheese and avocado!

DELIVERYISAVAILABLE.(just discovered this) I love the sandwiches here but since there is hardly ever parking close, many times I just drive by. Delivery was fast(35 minutes for my location) Sandwiches include side of potato salad or macaroni salad. We ordered the North Park and the Italian Sub. Tasty!!! Prices are very reasonable too.

Was craving a good deli sandwich during my weekend trip to SD and stumbled upon this place through Unilocal!Followed everyone’s reviews and got a Hot Papa and North Park Club! Ordered ahead via phone and spoke to a lady who wasn’t too patient taking my order. It was my first time so I didn’t know what I could get in my sandwich. Nevertheless, sandwiches were ready in no time and they were the sandwiches were amazing! Each came with a side(I had macaroni salad) and pickle! If I were to pick one between the two, I’d pick Hit Papa! SOGOOD.

Fat boys has consistently delicious and high quality sandwiches. My usual sandwich is the veggie delight with macaroni salad and pickle. The sandwiches are huge and the veggies are always high quality and abundant! It’s enough to eat for two meals or for one if I’m super hungry. The service is great: fast and friendly. However, I recommend calling in your order during peak meal times if you’re in a rush. My only suggestion would be to step up the pickle game. I am a pickle lover/snob so I can appreciate a pretty pickle Other than that I highly recommend this sandwich shop. It’s the best in town and very affordable!

Good ingredients(Boars Head), good service, nice atmosphere but awful french bread which made the overall sandwich less than average. The potato salad came from a 5 gallon bucket from some unknown supplier. I expected a slightly larger quantity of meat considering the name of the establishment.

I’m a fan… I tried the Jerk sandwich on toasted sourdough with jalapeño’s, all in all. it was a great sandwich & I would do it again. I think I will try the Rueben next time, usually I’m not a big fan of the potato or mac salads but potato salad was ok next time I will try the mac salad.

As I am driving through North Park, I mention to my girlfriend about a sandwich that has cream cheese and hot Cheetos on it. She was ecstatic, and said that we must stop by there. Having not tried this sandwich before I could not help but be skeptical. However, I was wrong to ever doubt this place or their sandwiches. Anything with cream cheese is bomb. I mean come on! And with fresh veggies, pretty good bread, and an extra crunch in every bite. She will not stop bothering me about going back! BTW They got like 30 types of killer ROOTBEER in here, what a combo!

Are you kidding me. A sandwich with cream cheese and flaming hot Cheetos on it! Genius. I always order the«hot papa»(hot Cheetos sandwich) or the«hot mama.”(has franks red on it) Sometimes the wait can be a bit long but I’d rather wait and get something of quality than go to a subway type place. You can always call your order in as well.(Ps it’s about the same price as subway too!!!) It’s got the most ridiculous selection of sodas(takes you back to your childhood) Oh and did I mention it’s a liquor store too in case you want some adult road sodas.(Awesome beer selection too I might add. Tons of local stuff) Amazing. It Rivals Chris’ Liquor in OB among my favorite sandwich places.

I thought this was a typical deli with just plain Jane food but I must admit I was wrong. So one night I was in the area and I was hungry but I really didn’t want to sit at a restaurant. So I looked on Unilocal and saw a few places like Urban and some places that were just out of my walking distance. As I was walking around I saw a sign that said Fat Boy deli and I remembered they had pretty good reviews on Unilocal.I walked over to Fat Boy deli and saw a cop car right on the corner and I was thinking do I really want to go inside? So yes I went inside and I’m glad I did because the sandwich I got was very tasty and they have outstanding root beer and cream sodas. I promise I will be back because the sandwiches are great, the employees are cool, they have tons of different sodas and the prices are right.

They serve huge sandwiches, they pile lots of meat and toppings unlike subway and other sandwich places. Potato salad is delicious I wish I could have more. Like a lot more lol. This place is also a market too so you can purchase beer, desserts and other treats. They have a big selection of chips. Once you order your sandwich at the counter the guy gives you a ticket to present for checkout at the next register. It does get busy here but the employees do an amazing job to work in a fast manner so lines aren’t long and you get your sandwich right away.

Its challenging coming from NY looking for a sub place to even come close to what I am used to in regard to sub sandwiches and delis — sigh — but I will admit Fatboys is now my spot! Its the best here in SD I have found so far! I have come in here 1000 times because they have the best soda selection I have ever seen! All kinds of old-school sodas and flavors, I just love it. I decided to give their subs a try as they are always busy and I had seen other customers’ subs come out and they looked good… I had a turkey/cheese/tomato on wheat — my staple — it was really good! They also serve with a little cup of potato salad(or mac salad, your choice) I was really pleased with the sandwich, the selection and the service was friendly. I will be back! :)

Came last Friday around 7:30pm and we were greeted by a nice man at the cash register. Go to the left and you’ll see the menu with all their amazing sandwich selections. They also have a stack of take-out menus in case you want to call in your order ahead of time. There was no line at all. I’m guessing lunch is a different story! My boyfriend ordered The Special on sourdough and I got the Super Bird on an onion roll. We were able to watch them make our sandwiches. OMG my mouth was watering as they prepared the bacon, spread the generous amount of pesto sauce on my bread, and placed heaping amounts of meat and veggies into the sandwich. The people here are extremely welcoming and friendly. Took my giant sandwich home and it was so good! I was only able to finish a third of it… meaning this sandwich was good for three meals. Next time I’m in the area, I’m definitely making a stop here.

I was in North Park for the first time in a very long time and needed a quick place to bring my friends. They rely on me for the good stuff and Fatboy’s did not disappoint! The sandwiches were huge and the service was great! I really liked my North Park Club and my friends loved the Hot Poppa. There was a $ 12 sandwich that one of my friends got but I forgot the name. The $ 12 sandwich was super big and had so much meat, I was surprised he finished it! The mac salad was good and I loved my pickle. Parking is hard here in North Park so I highly recommend you park in the neighborhoods down the street and walk over. There is very limited seating be outdoors because this place is basically like a liquor store with a deli counter. I also picked up some candy from their candy bar! I can never turn down sour belts. For a large sandwich(with mac salad and a pickle), a bottle of diet coke, some sour belt candy, and a slice of chocolate cake(which didn’t taste very good) I paid about $ 15. Not bad! I highly recommend you come and try their sandwiches! Super bomb!
