This is a great little place, hidden to the public and hard to get to. Even after going, I’m not even sure if its open to the public, because everything it oozes says its just a cafeteria for people who work in the building. I knew about it because my friend works around there and told me to go there for breakfast before heading out. And it took me forever to figure out where this place was. Mostly, because I was looking for a proper establishment and signage, not a cafeteria in a corporate setting. Once I parked after going in circles, I followed the small signs to the café. Which after all that, I have to say that the place and food options are great. Plus, the outdoor seating is phenomenal. There was no one outside when I was there for breakfast, and I was looking out in the distance, right above a valley.

I was visting a friend that works in the building and he was a fan of this place, so I decided to give it a try. I don’t know if many people besides the people who work in the area visit here. I would have never known about it if it weren’t for my friend. To get there, you hafta drive down a long street and pass a few work buildings. Once you park, you walk into one of the buildings, and«Fib’s» is all the way in the back. The inside is very big, spacious and modern. I actually wasn’t expecting it to look so nice as it did. During the time that I went, there was construction work outside, but I heard that it usually has a really nice view. The set-up is cafeteria style. I ended up making my way to the sandwich area and I ordered the Turkey BLT Panini. You can choose a side, and I ended up choosing fruit. I really liked my sandwich. It was a good mixture and it came with some yummy aioli mayo. The bread was also toasted just right. If you’re ever in this particular area, give this place a try!

awesome sandwiches! the first thing that surprised me was how«upscale» it looked but the food was pretty affordable! It’s a little bistro tucked away behind tons of office and research buildings along the canyon just north of Genessee. Most people who come here work in the vicinity, and the opening hours are pretty limited. The food is very delicious and unique. The variety is good, and the choices are moderately healthy. The paninis are to die for! Seating indoor is very chic, and seating outdoor feels nice and fresh, overlooking the canyon. If you’re nearby, try this out for lunch! It’s a «cafeteria» crossed with a fancy restaurant :).

CONVENIENCE. That would be one of the main reasons why I come to this place. It is a good walking distance from my work and on a sunny day it wouldn’ t be too bad to grab a couple co workers and come here for lunch. Their food is pretty decent for UTC dining. I usually have to drive out of the local area for a decent meal. Like how some of the other reviews have mentioned, I wouldn’t come here unless I worked in the area. Their prices are affordable, all meals are under 10 $ but they do tend to be on the smaller portions side of things. That does tend to fill me up at the time but I do get hungry within a couple hours. Nevertheless, the food itself is pretty good. The place itself is very modern for a cafeteria style bistro. I like the construction and spaciousness of the area. The cafeteria style dining also allows you to be in and out within a half an hour. There is also outside seating so that you can enjoy a beautiful day or if a loved one comes by to visit and happens to bring your pup around, are able to sit outside and enjoy it with them.

Wow this place made me wish I worked in this building. It is in a super modern office complex and the cafeteria is very spacious. I tried the Italian sandwich and the chicken curry. The sandwich was good and included roasted veggies on the side. The chicken curry was better than I expected for what appeared to be premise earlier in the day. They also have an organic garden on site which is super cool as it is nice to know your veggies are fresh. The food definitely beat my expectations of typical cafeteria food.

It pays to work in the building!!! Members get a discount, and yeeupp, only if you work there though. Everything is fresh, organic, and modern. Which is pretty cool. This«cafeteria style restaurant» is what my company’s future cafeteria is going to look like. Or I hope so! Different menu options with healthy food options. The chicken is free range, which is cool with me! The food is good for a cafeteria style type. My coworker and I ordered the Italian sandwich and the free range chicken curry. The sandwich was pretty good, but they ran out of the usual bread. The chicken curry was a little bland, but it’s probably due to the«healthy» side of it, like not putting in high amounts of sodium. Which is good for me! Lower sodium=lower blood pressure. Win-win for everybody!

Industrial is the first word. It looks sleek, cafeteria style like you see in a hospital but probably with better food. The space seems so big for the amount of people who visit it. I would have given this 4 stars if at least they used real plates. I know recycling is their thing so recycled paper plates are being used but if your food is with any grease, it seeps through(not a pretty site). I ordered the panini and the fries(separate), i think pricing is regular but not attractive to anyone to go all the way here for food. I know my friend Maria loves it but to me it’s meh! If you have a strong appetite, you would need to order two meals or a lot of sides(FerdS!). Well its a new place for me near work but unless I am with friends, I wouldn’t venture on my own for the amount of food I get. P. S. It does have a nice outdoor space with a view out to the canyon to the Interstate but is it worth the trip and price. not for me!

Fibonacci’s is like the office cafeteria of the future. Like from the Jetsons, or RoboCop. In terms of décor, spaciousness, and service, it rivals even that of Google’s Mountain View cafeteria in the Googleplex! Deep in the underbelly of a UTC office park, this lunchtime café is a great spot for a very nice business lunch or a quick getaway from the office. The servings are adequately sized so that you don’t gain 10 lbs from eating here in a month’s time. This is fresh farm to table food that is meant to be nutritious and organic, not greasy or food coma inducing. Both the fish and chips and the steak our hero tried were pretty tasty and the fries were a coarsely salted shoestring style. Our hero’s biggest gripe is only that they serve fish and chips with shoestring fries instead of «proper» fries. PROS: — They use decomposable utensils and plates here and have 4 different trash bins for compost, trash, utensils, and food waste. They truly are a green and sustainable business! — Meals are healthy and delicious with rotating daily specials. — There’s a really spacious patio outside. — Very spacious and modern décor. CONS: — The location is pretty out of the way and somewhat hard to find. — They only serve breakfast and lunch.

I read about this bistro in the SD Magazine as a hidden dining gem in the UTC area, and low and behold, it is practically down the street from my office. So I chose this place for my birthday lunch. Located waaaay in the corner of Campus Point Drive off Genesee is what looks like a striped, stainless steel building. The building is gorgeous and the architecture is amazing!!! The bistro is cafeteria style where you order at the stations, make your own salad, and/or grab and go. I opted for the daily special — Cedar River Farms Grilled Flank Steak with a side of fries($ 7.50). I requested my meat med rare and well done fries. After a couple of giggles because of my picky-ness, the guys began preparing my meal. My friend ordered the Teriyaki Yellowtail with a side of grilled potatoes and greens($ 8). We took a number, paid for the meals and took a seat in an oversided, comfy booth. An employee delivered our food, and to my amazement, my steak was cut up into pieces and a juicy med rare. My(thin-cut) fries were extra crispy per my request. It was DELISH!!! I tried a bite of my friend’s yellowtail, and the fish was just too fishy/salty. I didn’t care for it much. Luckily I didn’t order that entrée. Apparently, everything is eco-friendly and farm to fresh — love their concept. I’d definitely frequent this place again as the food is reasonably priced and surprisingly pretty good! Note: Only open breakfast and lunch.

Truck it out here My lunch moment is too short to afford running over to this luxe cafeteria or else I’d maybe be here several times a week. I make it over here once every never and think it very much in the style of their parent/partner Waters Catering/Food To Go. –Poor Ventilation System(not cool) +Out outdoor seating is a must(weather permitting) ?Would really like to see what they have in the morning… +I’m a big fan of the hand crafted granola. +Sandwiches, Salads, Soups, good for groups. –It’s a little too much for me in the dining area and I obviously do not work there and you can tell… HOWEVER this place is open and yum to the public and I never get a stank eye or anything. I’d say A+++ if you work in the area and are tired of the local options. Which, in my opinion, suck. I’d also say A+++ for a nice lunch with a pal. FYI Stay Alert — After you park there’s a little thumbs down for lack of signage. Surprised to see employees knocking this place about needing an affordible lunch… It’s called«brown bagging» it… you’re lucky you’re not eating out of a vending machine. Make your lunch at home and bring it to work… you’ll save a ton of money and you’ll probably be less bitchy from the regulated blood sugar. Everyone else, come here for a great lunch in an ungreat lunch location. ding!

This is hands down the best place for lunch in the Sorrento Valley/La Jolla area. Their food is absolutely delicious! The ingredients are so fresh, the portions are the perfect size and the prices are so reasonable. The vegetable garden on-site is the most impressive I’ve seen(great job Urban Plantations!)…where else in San Diego can you eat at a place where the food served is grown on-site?!? Bravo Fibonacci’s!

What to say about Fibinnocci’s… Well, sometimes their food is incredible, it just came out of the oven, and has the perfect blend of taste, texture, heat, moistness, or what have you. For those times my mouth is delighted at the sensations and happy with the price. Some of my favorites include the salad bar, butternut Panini(though it can be a little greasy at times), mac n cheese, butternut squash soup(haven’t seen it in weeks though), breakfast sandwich, 3 egg scramble, enchiladas verde, they have this incredible vegetable based linguini(which I haven’t seen in ages, come on guys its healthy and tasty why isnt it on the menu more?) and more… First you do want to make sure to get here at some reasonable time, the later you come the longer your food will have been overcooked or not taste right from sitting around. I don’t expect great food if I show up right before they close(which can be often, work gets crazy sometimes). Other times, like yesterday, it was a total flop. The artichoke stuffed chicken yesterday sounded so great and healthy. But it was totally dry. It was a very thick piece of chicken, maybe they should have slow cooked it to keep it tender. But then I got to the inside and swore I could have seen a little pink. Just a little bit. Later on in the day I found myself feeling suddenly not so well. I was doing my work when the sudden need to visit the restroom took over. I ended up visiting the office to do paperwork no less than 3 times for 2.5 hours after lunch. YIKES. My «productivity» was high! Some of the other criticisms are the place is a little expensive for a cafeteria, and the food is not always up to the reputation. Also if you are on a diet it is hard to eat here because they rotate the food around so much its hard to be able to depend on things if you can only eat certain foods. The people are always friendly. I would give them a 4 for the people, and the times they get the food right… I give them a 2 for inducing a brown demon exorcism yesterday. so that averages to 3… actually any place that induces brown demon exorcisms probably deserves a 2. But overall I have had many better experiences there then bad ones so I’ll leave it at a 3.

This is an awesome place. varied options for veggie lovers. they have a small garden(farm kinda); they grow their veggies. so fresh produce guaranteed the veggie burger with avacado. and onion crisps. delish veg fire roasted panini with goat cheese. oh! yumm butternut squash sandwich. wow ! awesomness veggie panini with eggplant and goat cheese. hmm super tasty. try it.

This was my original Unilocal review from when Fibonacci’s opened in 2009: «This place is a joke. Overpriced and overrated. Don’t even bother. You’re better off going to a food court in mira mesa where you actually get what you pay for.»(1 measly star) Since then… Water’s café took over and they have only improved. I mainly go here because of their homemade soups from scratch like the butternut squash w crème fraîche or the mulligatawny. Their panini’s are great too! Occasionally they will host dinner events such as wine/beer pairings including a lot of local purveyors but mainly they’re a lunch spot.

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89… What is that? The latest supernatural clue on LOST? The combination to my locker in high school? Neither. It’s actually the Fibonacci sequence, where any number is the sum of the two numbers before it. Named after a 13th century Italian mathematician, the Fibonacci sequence has applications all over mathematics and engineering. In fact, ratios of consecutive terms of the Fibonacci sequence converge to the golden ratio, which define the sides of a golden rectangle. Speaking of golden rectangles, I dropped by Fibonacci’s Bistro last week to have a panini lunch with a couple fellow Unilocalers. Fibonacci’s is tucked away in the Kyocera building deep in a large office park and is impossible to find without a little assistance from Google Maps. It’s a solid place to have lunch in the northern UTC area, a neighborhood that’s sorely lacking in decent dining options.(It’s where I work too, so I have some experience trying –and failing– to find a decent lunch there.) Fibonacci’s is more of a cafeteria than a bistro(what do you expect in an office park?), so service isn’t exactly a top priority here. Just order at the counter, grab a number, take a seat overlooking the pretty canyon, and wait. My lunch consisted of a turkey panini with a side of pesto pasta. This lunch was… okay, I guess. It filled me up, but there was nothing to get excited about, especially with the hefty $ 6.95 + tax price tag. The panini was fine, though I thought the bread came out burnt, and the kitchen wasn’t very generous with the fillings. Also, the side of pasta was laughably small– since when does exactly 7 noodles count as a side dish? It was more of a tease than anything. Is Fibonacci’s a reasonable place to grab lunch? Sure, in a pinch. Am I in a rush to come back? Not really. If I do, it will only be to see the Kyocera admin assistant who is the doppelgänger of Pam Halpert from The Office.

where the hell did this place come from? I’ve never been so thoroughly impressed with a corporate lunch«cafeteria.» And given I have been working in a bit of a black hole of lunch establishments for many years, discovering such a place as this has brought me more joy than can truly be expressed. (yes i realize how sad that sounds… please shed a tear for the lean cuisine at her desk girl) The second you step into the Kyocera building, in general, you realize you are in a special place. The modern and slightly futuristic architecture and design throughout the whole building is so visually stimulating I felt like I was taking a field trip rather than grabbing a quick bite to eat. *Appearance: Fibonacci’s interior is incredible just to look at. So much thought appears to have gone into it… all the way down to the cement flooring. I took plenty of photos so I don’t really need to go into it too much but it just evokes a very fresh, hip, casual«fun-to-be-in lunch atmosphere. So completely surprising for this area. The expansive floor to ceiling windows throughout the right side yields great natural lighting and(i assume) a great view when it’s not under construction as it was today. Given it’s located in a business park(pleeeeenty of parking btw) it is definitely made to accommodate large groups of people. We came roughly at 11:45 and it was pretty empty… no line to order food, or pay for food. It definitely got«busier» toward the end of our stay but even that is such an overstatement in caparison to most lunch-rush places. *Food: um… outstanding. We were shocked because the website menu makes it out like they only have a handful of things that change daily. Not at all. Tons of sandwiches, paninis, speciality salads(prepared), and a whole grilling station with oodles of delicious sounding entrees. Everything is so fresh, so flavorful, and the pricing is really REALLY affordable for the quality and portions given. I split 2 items with a friend so we could try 2 sandwiches instead of one. The turkey pesto sandwich and the caprese panini(was listed as a special on the table top board so not sure how often its available). Both very tasty and satisfying. I’d lean a bit more toward the panini though. Another friend got the chicken salad and raved. Seems to be a very green & forward-thinking business with cups made from recycled corn(and possibly the utensils too). There were recycle container for disposal next to the exit. I was told this place opened Jan. of 2010 as part of the Waters Fine Catering. Oh, and all employees of the building get 20% off their meal with their badge. damn you spoiled people… not only do you work it a sweet office building and get this delicious food at your disposal… you also get it for cheap! but thanks so much for sharing. ‘Gourmet organic’ scuffs at me in ways that I don’t want to go into here but the nerd-joke-for-a-name softened the bristles and drew me into this new ‘cafeteria’ in the Kyocera/Lilly building. It was amazing. The space feels a little loose(like an over-large sock) but beyond that the attention to detail is amazing. Modern and stylish, the dining area has floor-to-ceiling windows with a nice view of the Sorrento Valley. Today’s blustery gray weather made it that much more picturesque. The food is divided across four stations: a grill area, a pizza/prepared foods area, a sandwich area and a manned salad bar. All offer a nice range of exotic-but-comfortable foods made from organic locally-sourced ingredients. I opted for a vegetarian panino(goat cheese, roasted red peppers, some sort of leafy green, some other delicious things,) some pasta salad, some roasted vegetables(including some alarmingly good roasted brussel sprouts) and a chocolate chip cookie. It was all perfect, filled with interesting flavors and textures and cost less than $ 10. Run by Waters Catering and open to the public by virtue of it being in a shared building. Go. Go now. Bonus points for running down the hall to the tiny arcade for a quick game of Ms. Pac-Man after you eat.
