Fluffy Duffy’s Snow Cream

Sad this place is closed but I blame the location since the parking lot is a little strange.
The prices were good, and the time I went they were out of the green tea flavor I wanted to try. Now I guess I’ll never get to try it.
The flavor I did get was mango with marshmallow drizzle and it was super sweet but amazingly delicious. The place was empty save for us and the girl behind the counter. They had loud hip music and different board games to play. We had a good couple rounds of mancala there.

Business closed. No signs. Waited outside for ten minutes. Booooooo.
This only goes in as a tip unless I write more, so I am. Since I’d like to warn others until the page gets taken down.

Great idea, but poor execution.
I had been wanting to check this place out for a while so I finally went in today with my son & husband. We arrived at 2:10 which is only 10 minutes after opening time, and although we were the only people there, all the tables were sticky and dirty.
We really wanted to try the snow cream, and were told that the snow cream doesn’t come in a kid’s size (which I found strange), so we ordered 2 regular sizes and shared. My son & husband decided on cookie butter but were then told it wasn’t hard enough (whatever that means), so they got peanut butter instead. I ordered peach, and wanted to get fruit on top but apparently all the fruit is frozen so I decided not to get any toppings (which was disappointing).
I think the idea is good, but this place could use some changes. I don’t think I’ll be back.

The Fluffy Duffy is a good starter concept. Snow Cream is different than ice cream, and folks are curious to try it. The products here are tasty indeed. But the operator here must add some ambiance to the establishment. There are thousands of college students passing by here everyday. But nothing at Fluffy Duffy’s is saying to them, «Stop on by and give us a try.» Nice lady making the treats here, but the PR & Promotions Dept. President is apparently taking a nap back in the storage room. It just seems that zero effort is given to making this place cool, fun & millennial. Please come by & try some Snow Cream today, so this new place won’t blow away.

My new obsession! A friend recommended this place and I really didn’t have the time to go until this past weekend, now I am kind of upset I didn’t discover it sooner! Especially with this extra warm weather. It’s a bit confusing when you go for the first time but the gal behind the bar was super informative and friendly! Any Who I had strawberry snow cream which is extra fluffier than your normal ice cream because I believe they shave a solid brick of ice cream (sorry if I’m wrong) and it just becomes super fluffy. I also ordered it with a scoop of mothers circus cookie ice cream! Yes circus cookie ice cream! Bomb bomb bomb topped it off with strawberries and strawberry syrup. So amazing! Small place and I love it, my go to was Yogurtland but not anymore!

I’ve never had snow cream until I came here. I got the peanut butter snow cream with condensed milk drizzle and it was so good. My friend tried the coconut snow cream and neither of us liked it. We thought it didn’t have much flavor but based off other reviews, it seems to be pretty popular
The lady helping us was very friendly and I thought it was a cute little shop despite other reviews. I definitely recommend trying them out, I’ll be back!

This is a teeny little store tucked into a little mall across from Ralph’s and diagonally across from Starbucks on the corner of Montezuma/​El Cajon.
Prices were super duper reasonable– so reasonable I wondered if she will be able to stay in business. I hope so, and I hope anyone who reads this stops in and gives it a try.
Pros: You can get snow cream aka fluff ice (like shave ice, but with ice cream); shave ice; or just ice cream. Each cup is huge and comes with one topping and one additional syrup (like chocolate or caramel).
–The shave ice COMES WITH a scoop of ice cream. Unheard of! That’s usually extra $$.
–It is under $ 3 for the smallest size, which is more than enough.
–You can pretty much customize it however you like, and the owner is totally reasonable and sweet about pricing your requests.
–The shave ice is very soft, not hard like a lot of faux «shave ice» places, just like what you get in Hawaii.
Cons:
–Only the owner was working, and only my family was there. It took some time to complete all the orders. Expect a wait. But that’s not really unexpected– nobody has like 10 ice shaving machines going at once.
Décor is rather spare, but hey, you can’t beat the prices– you can’t have everything.

Super affordable snow cream/​shaved ice to quell that summer heat. I had an horchata snow cream with condensed milk topped with tons of mochi and it was one of the yummiest frozen treats I’ve had in a while.
There was only one girl working that time we went and we waited patiently until a group of five was done with their orders. I mean, if you really want something you’d be willing to wait for it :)
I hope they’ve added more staff… like maybe one more person would be fine.
I love the name and the mascot too! So cute!

Looks for snow cream sign not a fluffy’s sign when coming here. Parking is tight and small.

I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for someone to bring fluff ice down from LA. I saw months ago that this place was coming in, but, well I forgot. Until one day a few weeks ago when my husband I were picking up a pizza from Milo’s and I saw Fluffy Duffy’s was ready for action! Unfortunately we were taking our slices to go so also grabbing a big bowl of fluff ice was out of the equation — you know, for melting reasons.
But today was hot. Like, heat sweeping up from the deepest pits of hell and then being microwaved with 3000 wet towels hot. It was just beyond gross and I needed a bowl of snow to drop my head in. I was not disappointed.
I ordered the coconut snow with condensed milk and pineapple. My husband had the vanilla snow with condensed milk and mochi. Both were amazing and just what we needed to cool down from the inside out. They were colder than ice cream. So cold, in fact, that my pineapple froze before I finished my treat.
I’m pretty sure this summer is going to be outright disgusting so I have no doubt that I’ll require frequent trips for fluff ice. Honestly I could just eat the stuff with no toppings and just a bit of condensed milk.
Snow Ice: Battling Hellfire Since Forever. Or Whenever.

This place was is fantastic, but it was the negative reviews that made me really want to put up a review here. The horchata and fruit medley with a condensed cream drizzle were both fantastic. It was even better with the free pineapple topping –especially since the girl was so sweet that she piled it on since they were about to close.
About those negative reviews. If you are sexually turned on just by walking into an ice cream shop, you have problems and mediocre décor is hardly a reason to hate the place.
And if you want a snow cone, they have all kinds of traditional flavors, like bubble gum, green apple and more. Those «strange» flavors for the snow cream, like horchata and chili mango, are pretty common Mexican flavor combinations and if you have a problem with those flavors, you don’t belong in San Diego. Go back to Kansas already, the rest of us here like to have stuff that’s not boring and generic.

Am I the only guy to ever walk into an ice cream shop and get sexually turned off immediately?
well that’s what happened to me @ Fluffy Duffy’s Snow Cream.
There is nothing attractive about wide blank white walls with a few posters tacked up. Another element that irked my gears was the location of their ice cream. The owners have their ice cream stored in a 8′ by 3′ freezer chest behind the counter. Every time a customer ordered ice cream, the employee had to open up the ice chest and dive in three feet deep looking for a flavor. The time it takes to serve the ice cream is just absolutely annoying too. I was behind two other people, and it took me 15 minutes to finally receive my order. Not to mention the «free» toppings that came with your ice cream or snow cream tasted stale (in my case, it was the peanut M&Ms).
The only saving grace of Fluffy Duffy’s Snow Cream is the low low low prices on their menu. But unfortunately, the ice cream itself doesn’t even taste that creamy either.
I know Fluffy’s just opened, and maybe deserves time to work out its kinks, but as of now, you just don’t do it for me Fluffy Duffy’s!

I’m not really sold on the whole snow cream idea. It doesn’t come out as a beautiful pile of ribbons like in the photos, compacts quickly, and is basically just fluffy ice cream. However, the flavors are great! Next time I will just have regular ice cream and skip the «snow» part.
The atmosphere here is odd. The place only opened a few months ago and I like the color scheme, but it looks empty and lonely. The owner is very nice though, and she just set out board games, which makes me a fan. If I were in this area more often, this would be a great place to hang out.

Minus a star for the crappy shaved ice. Not many flavors and they don’t compact the ice so you get about 3 spoonfuls of shaved ice after they drown it in the syrup.
Minus another star for not compacting the snow cream either. For that price id like to get my moneys worth. But its pretty damn good though. Love the horchata peach and mango flavors.
Minus another star for the stupid hours of operation. It gets hot at 11am so opening from 2 in the afternoon to 10pm makes no sense.
They need better management and customer service. There’s not that many shaved ice places in the area, I’d hate to see this place fail

The area? El Cajon… The goal? Ice cream.
I show up after a very confusing set of directions (completely the GPS’s fault). Walk across the street to a little snow cone shop with 1 employee working. It’s not that busy, so the employee doesn’t mind taking the time to explain to me what the difference between snow cream and shaved ice is (appreciate it). The peanut butter snow cream was good, I didn’t really enjoy the shaved ice (I got the «Tigers blood») but the prices really aren’t that bad. Left a tip for the very helpful employee but only leaving 2 stars for the shop I visited. Not very impressive. I could order one of those Taiwanese machines myself, what else is there to this place besides that?.

Went to Fluffy’s a couple weeks ago and got the peanut butter snow cream. It was insanely rich and «peanut buttery» but it just wasn’t as cold and refreshing as I was looking for. Went back today, and man am I happy I did. We got peach snow cream with Oreos and horchata snow cream with Nilla wafers. Heaven right here in Rolando. Check them out. Can’t wait to go back and try the chili mango and honey and take them up on their free drizzles.

Tiny shop at the edge of a mini mall on The Boulevard. The parking lot is small and the spaces are smaller. If you don’t have a hard-​on for door dings, skip it and park on the street.
I ordered a Tropical Fruit Punch Shaved Ice w/​Vanilla Snow Cream. The snow cream has a silky smooth texture and packs big flavor in each spoonful, and marvelously combined with the tangy crimson hued ice.
A fun alternative to your everyday ice cream parlor and worth a look.

So happy this opened up a couple blocks away from me! You can get a pretty good size cup of a snow cone, ice cream or thier specialty snow cream (like a gourmet creamier version of a snow cone).
You get a toppping like candy, mochi, or fresh fruit for free (.35 for extra) and all the drizzle of sauces you want like condensed milk, caramel, or white chocolate.
All this goodness for just $ 3.50!
I got Chili Mango with coconut pinapple ice cream with fresh mango pieces and co condensed milk and white chocolate drizzle.
The combination of sweet spicy and heat and cold was heaven!
There’s a groupon right now so it’s an even better deal.
Parking might be a little hard but you can park on the street or at Ralph’s.

I was introduced to my first snow cream here at this place, and let me say, after my first several bites, I immediately became a fan. You can mix and match, so I ordered half of regular vanilla ice cream and and the rest with peanut butter snow cream topped with crumbled vanilla wafers for under $ 3 (

The snow cream was quite good with the texture of Hawaiian shaved ice and creamy ice cream. I was surprise how smooth it was. The peanut butter flavor was very evident and long lasting (
). I liked it. The vanilla ice cream was good and had a good balanced vanilla flavor and not to strong (
). The crushed wafers not only tasted good, but added a great texture to the whole thing. They certainly brought back memories of my childhood.
This place has some great flavors and varieties of shaved and ice creams. (
) If you are in to that, especially Hawaiian Shaved ice, this place deserves a visit.
Inexpensive…fun!

Hidden gem located in a very small plaza near SDSU and I’m glad to have discover it! Snow cream what is that? It’s similar to shave snow but more creamier in taste. It’s soft, melts in your mouth, and very flavorful! It’s still a pretty new place and they are still working on things. The pricing is seriously cheap especially for hawaiian style shave ice, $ 2.50? crazy! Snow cream is cheap as well. When you order snow cream you get one free topping, and free drizzles such as condensed milk, caramel, etc. For a size regular it’s good enough to share among two people and it’s perfect for a hot summer day! I will be back for sure and can’t wait to see how the taro flavor goes: P For now they have interesting flavors such as horchata and chili mango!
