FOX 5 San Diego – KSWB

Let me start by saying I love Fox but I cannot and will not EVER watch their morning segments. I feel like I’m watching a Saturday night live episode and the first time I ever saw this show I thought it was a joke and checked the other channels to make sure it wasn’t «Unprofessional News Day» or something along those lines. The anchors, the ones who closely resemble Clark Kent and Frieda Kahlo were joking/​flirting back and forth for close to 5 minutes never once delivering anything of substance. Aloha the weather girl– whose dress was club attire (no exaggeration it even sparkled), made me wonder what the dress code is here and if they even have one? The woman is stunning but I absolutely do not want to see boobs when I watch the news…
I’ll stick with any other channel.

We LOVE Raul and Shally on the morning news. The 10:00 evening news we also catch. But with not the same enthusiasm. On 11 March 2016 Phil Blauer was covering the solar eclipse and the photographs taken by a passenger on the Alaskan airline flight over the Pacific Ocean. I wouldn’t normally say anything for one slip-​up, but TWO?! To wit, «…to allow he and 160 other passengers…» and «…last minute plans for he and his wife to be on board.» Good grief! Objects of verbs and prepositions do not become nominative just because they’re plural. My wife and simultaneously yelled out «him!» for both gaffes. Worse, on the 10:00 evening news on 12 March 2016, there was a reporter covering the highway snow issues in northern California. He made the same mistake, subsituting «he» for «him» in a plural object. C’mon, Fox news. You folks are guardians of English, whether you like it or not. Keep this crap up and you’ll lose viewers.

Flat out painful to watch. Whatever they’re doing shouldn’t be considered news of any kind since it’s barely a step up from Entertainment Tonight. It’s nothing more than incessant babble on stupid topics that they grind into the ground. The women «anchors» are the absolute worst thing about this channel. They are maddening to listen to. Chrissy Russo who keeps strutting across the screen repetitively, Shally and her «Mommy baby handbook» crap and all the other pregnant women anchors who love rambling about babies; makes me want to stab myself with a spork. For the record: we don’t care about your damn kids or your baby fever because you’re pregnant!!!
Seriously Fox, clean house and get some real morning anchors. One’s who report actual news and not Hollywood gossip. Oh and let’s not forget, talking about BABIES!!!

I was flipping channels and ended up on 5. There was a weather lady with a voice like Minnie Mouse. Her name is Aloha. She looked like a contorted stork the way she puts her elbows way back behind her. I guess that extends her, well you know, upper chest. What a joke.

It appears that Raul Martinez can’t wait to drink alcohol at 8 in the morning and can’t stop giggling like a ten year old girl

I love this show. The best in the morning because it is different from all the other boring news programs. I hope these cast stay on for a long time.

I took a tour of the news station because I may be putting together a commercial. First of all I was very impressed with the staff I met and just the whole set up in general. It was awesome to see how a live news coverage is put on TV. I got to see behind the scenes and how production works. This is the first channel I’ve visited, but I have to say I really enjoyed this place. They are a leader in news coverage in San Diego. And now I see why.

Most of the reviews I write are based on the comparison of the expected standard. This one will be different.
The FOX5 morning show is in a separate class from the rest of the droll information and robotic production on the airwaves. It’s THE reason I watch. I rather enjoy watching the personal interplay among the team members.
I could pick and pan each of them but let’s just suffice to say that the overall dynamic is very entertaining and I yearn for the moments when the team members will be either fawning or bashing each other. There is so much personality on the show that there can’t help but be friction and affection.
They lose one rating star because when it’s time for serious local live news action, the anchors show their lack of depth and ability. Sorry guys, but that’s the deal as I see it. (Just a hint: don’t assume to know what the subjects of the story are doing or thinking — just report what you observe.)

I’m giving two stars one for each morning anchor because they do an awesome job but minus three for Chrissy Russo who cannot say «V I S I B I L I T Y», maybe she can volunteer at a local elementary school and practice phonics! send Chrissy back east and bring back Brad, who does an awesome job.

I’m here to give Chrissy Russo some love. I think she is great! This is a woman who is passionate about her job and it shows. I love how she will say things like «get your vaporizers out» or «bring your umbrellas.» When I’m getting ready in the morning, she is exactly what I need. She spells out exactly how to be prepared. Then its usually followed with traffic and it makes my morning more efficient. I love her passion, its not something you see much. Is she cute? Yes. Dress to impress? Yes, so of course she will get hate… but come on, good for her for putting her best self forward. She is good at her job — there is no denying that.
Now on to Heather Lake — will someone please take her to etiquette classes? This girl is down right rude to the people she interviews. I can give 2 examples off the top of my head.
1) When she was doing an interview that discussed BMI and she argued with the professional that the BMI given by a lady on the interview was not in fact fine as he had said, and in fact was high! Hello, shes working to better herself and you just called her fat!
2)Or how about the one for sugar and scribe where she says to the owner «youre kind of skinny for a baker.»
Heather stops focusing on people weight. Focus on the business, presenting it in a good light and allowing people to walk away feeling good and encouraged!
OK — now back to Chrissy — you rock!

Watching Fox 5 you almost feel embarrassed for the anchors with all the bad jokes awkward situations and dancing around like idiots it’s no wonder people think Californians are all nuts it’s also sad to see how clueless shallie is almost like seeing a child do the news

Who taught Aloha Taylor how to dress for her job? Doesn’t she hold a professional business position? She dresses for her weather report like she’s going out on the town with the girls! Aloha, think «professional», not «party»!!!

Paul Bloom… Zeb, first American to win, c-mon…maybe the first legal citizen, but bottom line, he’s from Kenya. say whatever you want for a cheap sound bite.

Ok, first of all, Fox 5 is getting one star for the soul reason that they are persistent in the fact that they keep coming back day after day…
Now I’ll be the first to admit I’m old, old school, etc, what ever you want to call it… Somewhere in the past 30 yrs. San Diego has lost the idea of broadcasting the news, I so miss the days when watching the news was just that, we watched, we learned, we went away feeling like we spent time we’ll used…
Fast forward to shows like Fox 5, yes, it’s a show, and not a very good one, somehow the people that rate tv shows missed this one, I mean it’s so poorly produced it’s embarrassing to admit you were watching… I gave it the benefit of the doubt on a couple of occasions and both times became nauseous. .
I can only compare their wanna be cute antics like the not funny guy at the company christmas party, try as they do it just doesn’t work…
Sad really, for them but more so for us…
Will someone please find Ron Burgundy and send him home…

Very unprofessional morning crew… you’d figure a news station like this in a city like this would have some sort of standards for anchors… very disappointing I feel my iq level go lower every time I watch them.

Love the Fox 5 San Diego news team, both morning and evening anchors and reporters. Best news director in town. Let’s not forget the website — it’s a good source of news, too.

They need to focus more on their jobs. Not goofing off and acting like idiots on camera.

Chrissie I is the bomb! Raul and Shallie rock! I love to watch them banter back and forth with other. I saw them broadcast from the beach last year. I watch because of all three of them. great job, Guys!

Use to love this channel. But I feel like they just stick to one thing. Especially if it’s breaking news. They will stay in the same thing for hours instead of coming back to it. Also the morning new isn’t even news. It’s just a bunch of babbling.

Best morning news program in San Diego. They actually make it entertaining and are a great bunch for the morning. I wouldn’t even turn on my tv in the morning if it weren’t for fox5. I’d get up and probably just go straight to work.
