Fusion Hair Studio

So I went to fusion salon on a whim. As I am new in town. I went to another hair salon in town. Which shall rename nameless. (I hated it. Did what she wanted to my hair)
However, Amber listens which is what truly makes a hair stylist. My hair feels healthy and has bounce.

I am very picky when it comes to anyone handling my hair, but one of my friends referred me to Amber and they did not steer me wrong! She did a wonderful job, dyed my hair just the color I wanted, and styled it beautifully.

I got my hair colored by Susie. She was very reassuring (I wasn’t sure about the color I had picked) and did a great job. She gave me exactly what I asked for. I saw her do a couple more people while I was there, and she did a style with braids and a sew-​in weave — both were beautiful. I’d recommend this shop.

I enjoy the atmoshere when i go there the clients are always happy and Amber is always busy and the work Amber does beyond compare. Keep up the splendid art work H A mac man

Amber is great!!! if you need a cut, a weave, relaxer, flat iron or what ever else your hair might need, she is your girl. great prices and she takes walkins. I have been going to her for 3 years now and she always does a great job. Be prepared to waite a little like most black salons. You have to have some time to spare.

First, I haven’t been in a salon for 7 years! I really hadn’t been impressed with anyone who was doing my hair at that time (and there were many), so I got fed up and started doing it myself.
My Fusion appointment was at 10:30 am on Saturday. I came in and had a seat and waited for about 20 min before Amber, who was working on a client at the shampoo bowl, greeted me. I wasn’t bothered by the wait at all (this IS an urban salon). My first impression of Amber was great (the only thing I knew about her up to this point was what I read in the reviews here). Her hair was on point — bouncy, swinging, healthy looking, so I assumed my hair would be just fine. Even at 10:30 am, there were already 3 people ahead of me at various stages, but again I didn’t mind the wait. It gave me a chance to pick out some hair cuts (I was cutting off all my hair) and also see her work. She had an assistant prepping, washing and blow drying which kept the clients moving, and was definitely a plus.
When it was my turn in the assistant’s chair, oh my! I received the BEST hair wash ever! My scalp is dry and I didn’t even have to say anything… she took care of it. After my wash, condition and blow dry, my hair was so soft and smelling so good that I almost changed my mind about cutting it all off!
It was 3 hours before I sat in Amber’s chair even though it didn’t feel like it. The conversations were funny and time was flying by. I’m transitioning from relaxed to natural hair so she flat ironed my roots and then got the scissors. I told her I wanted it really short (so I wouldn’t have much relaxed hair left) but she was a little apprehensive and gave me a quick chin-​length bob cut (maybe took 5 min) just to be sure and to give me one last chance to change my mind, which I appreciated. I told her to go for it and she did!
After all was said and done, I couldn’t have been happier. My hair (with no relaxer at the roots) was softer and straighter than I can remember it ever being. The cut is super cute (click my profile for b4 and after) and the price was super CHEAP (but maybe I’m just used to Orange County prices). Total time? Almost 5 hours. And worth every minute. I’m a fan and I will definitely be back!

I recently went to Fusion because someone else had totally screwed my hair. it was a process that started in Atlanta, then having it redone in Lajolla and finally OMG it ended with Amber. She did a outstanding job ! Infact renewed my faith in there are still hairdressers that really care. She listened, asked question. (we had a conversation about what was healthy for my hair — unbelievable) All I can say — in the Navy when you have done a job over and above you get a Bravo Zulu. So to Amber I must say You are awesome, again thank you and «BRAVO ZULU». Dianne

Did not have a great experience, first… I got a weave and had to take it out as it was way too tight!!! Second, I came on a day when the hot water stopped working suddenly and all that they had to use was COLD water. I was in the middle of a relaxer rinse-​out process, imagine that! All I can remember about that experience was it was very cold and uncomfortable, and yes I paid the full price for everything– owner did not bring up the inconvenience and I was her customer, but it’s okay!!! Just noLuck! I won’t be scheduling an appointment there ever. I guess… expect the BEST, but prepare for the Worst?

Amber has been doing my hair for five years! I trust her completely with the maintenance of my hair. My hair is healthy and in great condition.
I would recommend her services to all. Just come into the shop with the right amount of money & patience (she is only one person!).

I recently moved from Vista, CA to San Diego, CA and sadly had to say goodbye to my stylist because of the distance. I spent over a month trying to find a hair salon that would be the right fit for me, as I am super picky when it comes to my hair. After countless Google searches and calling several salons, I came across Fusion Hair Studio. I am so GLAD that I made an appointment! Amber gave me the best relaxer of my life! She was super quick (I was done in less than 2 hours, which is very fast for a black hair salon haha), and she and the other girls working in the salon were very friendly and fun to be around. Everyone was incredibly personable and made me feel as though I was visiting with girlfriends. Best of all, I had no burns on my scalp. In the past I have always managed to get some sort of chemical burn after a relaxer, but not with Amber! That is a big deal to me, because those chemical burns can be painful and look nasty. On top of the excellent service and the amazing hair, the price was the lowest I have ever paid for a relaxer in my life. When I asked Amber what I owed her, I was in shock. I will definitely be going back Fusion!

It’s tough to find someone who’s all around good at doing hair, regardless of your ethnicity. Growing up I must have visited at least 30 – 40 beauticians all claiming to be the best at their game but their expertise was either sub par or they charged an insane price for something really only worth about half. I’m pleased to say that Amber is the real deal.
I’ve been going to Fusion for almost a year for perm touch ups + trim and style and I hope she never leaves because I’m going to keep coming back forever and ever! The atmosphere at her shop isn’t like others I’ve seen before. Amber is professional and friendly and I think all of her clientele can sense the aura she’s trying to keep — I always have a nice time visiting there and chattin’ it up! The quality of her work speaks for itself; before coming to Amber I had been wearing wigs for about two years due to severe hair damage inflicted by prior stylists. I was nearly bald! Now, my hair is past my shoulders and strong and healthy and Amber is careful not to burn my scalp or fry my hair with chemicals or heat. I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to feel good about my hair again, but alas, Amber rescued me!
At times the wait can be long — that’s pretty much the case at any salon. The good thing is that Amber keeps the heads movin’ by rotating people in and out of her chair. There’s constant movement, so you don’t get the feeling that you’re just sitting around indefinitely. Because she’s doing most of the work herself she does expect customers to be fair with payment — it’s pretty much the standard that you tip, so be sure to budget for that!
The bottom line: Women who know what they want and are on a budget should definitely give Fusion Hair Studio a try. San Diego doesn’t have much to choose from by way of multi-​ethnic hair salons, and this one stands out as the best I’ve seen.

How do I start?
I found this studio here on Unilocal.I am a college student who is on a budget and I wanted to get some tracks (just the tracks, no style) put in before I went on Vacation. I found Amber and read her reviews, she sounded A Plus!!! She was in my Price range, about 20 dollars a track.
Excited to get my hair done, I called and made an appointment and everything was set. I called her the day before my appointment and asked her if I needed to wash my hair, she said I didn’t need to wash and she would take care of it.
I get to the Salon the next day, and OF course I have to wait the 30 – 45 mins while she finished the client who showed up late. But when it was my turn she got me in the chair and washed my hair and carried on as usual. She was full of conversation and we laughed and joked around quite a bit.
2 hours later when we were all done I gave her 90 dollars for her services (the 4 rows and a 10 dollar tip) and she sort of looked at the cash in disgust. I asked her if that was ok? Her response was «I mean, I didn’t charge you for the wash»
WAIT? I asked her the night before if she wanted me to wash my hair???
I then told her that I only brought 95 with me, and she says «well just give me the 5 and we’ll call it even» –WOW! I talked to another woman who is also a hair stylist and she said that in her years in the business, some people tip and some don’t. So I don’t know what Amber was expecting from me. I mean I wish these hair people would just say exactly what they want. Not expect me to tip her 20 dollars cause she comp’d the wash.
I mean my hair came out beautiful, even without the style. She is very talented and all, but her attitude about the tip really was unappealing to me. And that is the reason I’m only giving 3 stars… That and the fact that she braided my tracks real tight which caused some minor breakage to my hair.
Over all she has lots of talent and I see people RAVE about her, but the overall experience is the reason I probably won’t be back to see Miss. Amber.

Love, love, love… and I’m a picky bitch when it comes to my hair!
Amber knows what’s up, is hilairious, easy to talk to, and talented at her craft. Not everyone who does weaves can do them equally well on caucasian hair, but Amber can. My weave lasted 2+ months and looked good the whole time.
Her prices are reasonable, and she is pretty accomadating. By far the best hair shop I’ve been to since living in San Diego.

Did an amazing job on my hair & make-​up for the fashion show at THREAD san diego fashion event… I love Amber!

I’ve been coming here since 2006 to get pressed, updos and weaves and Amber has always made my hair looking great so that I leave Fusion (although I used to see her more when she had Utopia) feeling FABULOUS. She’s very friendly and conversational. While I don’t get weaves anymore, she does them very well and at a reasonable price. Definitely recommended.

Now, I’ve been to a lot of hair salons in San Diego. I’ve seen the good, the bad, the atrocious, and them whose name we do not speak. Amber at Fusion Salon is good at what she does and I’ve had her pressing my hair for about a year now.
Amber does a little more than the usual dyed, fried and flipped to the side. She specializes in weaves and extensions along with healthy hair and special occasion hair. She’ll have you looking spectacular in no time (by no time I mean 3 hours-​this is a black salon).
My monthly hair experiences with Amber have all been good. She chats and laughs you through the hours and send you on your way looking ready for the runway.
