Gen Min Acupuncture & Herb Center

I’m so grateful to Dr. Annie for treating me over the holiday weekend, I am miserably sick and she gave me some relief, hope and instructions. She took a genuine interest in my overall health condition. I’m going back tomorrow!

I’ve had a neck issue with muscle spasms since 2007… and i was also pretty skeptical about acupuncture… after she stuck me with the needles i started feeling relief about 5 mins in. i was able to move my neck around with no pain. I was really surprised that it worked… she also gave me some teas to drink at home to helped with inflammation. i will be coming here weekly for treatments. so glad i found her.

I have been to several Accupuncturists in my 70 years, and I must tell you, Dr. Annie, at Gen Min, is perhaps the best! No frills, just very effective treatment. She has relieved my Rotator Cuff pain, amazingly! My lower back loves her! My Kaiser Insurance covers my treatment. Take a break from pain.

Great place to buy Cordyceps (natural cancer fighter, and athletic performance enhancer), and many more things! I had a horrible cold for a week and I walked in this place and told the man at the counter my symptoms. He immediately knew what to do and gave me some herbs and a throat soother. I would have to say, 1 hour after taking the medicine I felt a lot better! Its like everything went away with one swipe! This shop kicks butt! 5+ stars all the way!

Dr Annie is sweet and kind .

Teas taste like shit but work, you get used to it just like any thing else :)

Wonderful treatment & low-​cost.
This is a no frills environment. Annie get’s right to the point.
A few needles, skillfully placed; 45 minutes of resting (I brought headphones to listen to gentle music on my iPod). My Mom was in another treatment room and fell asleep during that time.
We’ve both been coming here for 20+ years.

I’ve been to acupuncture clinics for years and when I found this place because my insurance covered part of the payment I was so grateful! Lily is the only one I’ll see. I’ve been to her daughter and she doesn’t give me the ‘hard-​core’ treatment that her mom Lily gives. I’ve been completely relieved of carpel tunnel syndrome after 2 months of treatment! She gets right to the core of the issue and is very no-​nonsense. I’ve been back many times for many issues over the years and I am always pleased with the results. I will be taking my son there for his recent onslaught of migraines and I know he will get relief. Thank you for Gen Min! My biggest fear is that Lily retires…

Gen Min is fantastic! I was having a headache for 6 days. I went to see a doctor at Mission Valley medical clinic (see my horrible review for them on Unilocal) and left within 30 minutes still feeling sick, and with a prescription for vicatin in my hands (no wonder this country is so addicted to prescription pills, they are so easy to get). But I didn’t want to simply mask the pain with meds, I wanted to figure out what was wrong with me. It was more than the headache, my appetite, my mood, I felt completely off for days, which had never happened to me before. My husband made a day of appointment for me at Gen Min while I was at work. We got there, and I waited in the clean, and peaceful waiting area for my appointment. This was my second experience with Acupuncture, and usually I would have been nervous I think, but everything about the environment was calm and soothing. I was comforted by the shelves of herbs behind the counter and the wellness magazines on the side table. That said, it’s not new age-​y or anything like that. Its simple and serious which I like. The practitioner had several clients before me and when they came out I noticed there willingness to take the practitioner’s suggestions of herbal supplements, and pleasure in paying the bill. These were satisfied customers. When it was my turn to go in, she was kind, attentive, direct, and interested in my pain. She looked at my tongue and seemed to know exactly what was wrong with me. After the session she gave me a 10 minute neck massage (because that was one of the sources of my pain), and when I got up I felt instantly different. Better! I had a sense of self, as if I had come back into my body and mind, I smiled for the first time in days, and the pain had almost completely subsided.
I went to the doctor and left with a piece of paper and $ 100 less in my bank account, I went to Gin Men and walked out almost pain free.
It has been 3 days since my visit and I feel better and better every day. I have decided to go to Gen Min once a month from now on. What she does is amazing.

Great place! Simple, professional but not pretentious. Just like it is in Asia, but clean, down to earth and professional. She treated me with what I needed and only recommend that i come see her if need more treatment. Service was friendly and she asked me lots of questions to determine my symptoms and lifestyle before administering any treatment or herbs. Will for sure recommend to others.

I’ve been going to Annie for over one year, and can’t say enough good things. After visiting 4 different doctors (family, derm, allergist, GI) and none of them could figure out how to get rid of my hives (corticosteroids was there answer), Annie said that skin issues are related to digestion and after a month of weekly acupuncure the hives were gone and with ongoing maintenance haven’t come back. She’s also been very helpful with my stuffy sinuses. No cold, just general stuffiness and the acupuncture has opened my sinuses up too.

Annie is wonderful. She has a great calming presence and gives a no bs treatment. Quick with at home remedies as well. Much better than a fancy schmancy «wellness center» where you get talked into supplements, sacrocranial therapy, facials and chiropractic care. Not that there is anything wrong with that but sometimes you just need straight up traditional acupuncture and this is the place to get it. Bring music or a podcast to pass the time as there is none in the treatment rooms.

I thought of trying a «bigger» place that sounded fancier and then thought, if I can’t trust Unilocalers, who can you trust? I wasn’t disappointed. Again thanks to my fellow Unilocalers for the advice.
They are an authentic shop in the heart of North Park that is very reasonable (compared to all the other places I called and investigated)
Annie had a wonderful bedside manor and made me feel very at ease for first first time.
It was spartan inside (who cares!) with a full selection of dried herbs and pills (if you need them). The main thing is I came away with results!
She told me more helpful hints and tricks about how to stay healthy I terms of diet, herbal recos and pulse point massage locations on my body (directly relating to the headaches/​migraines I primarily went in for)
I feel like a million bucks after my treatment on Friday. No headaches and my energy level has gone WAY up.
I feel so lucky to have found this place and the fact that I’m supporting local business in my ‘hood makes me happy too.

Gen Min is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone suffering back pain, headaches, infertility, or any medial conditions… this is the real deal CMD Chinese Medicine Doctor. Their services are professional and outstanding.

Gen Min is a great location to get raw herbs. I usually get my prescriptions for decoction here. I think they are reasonably priced and the Doctors are very professional and helpful. Although I have another acupucturist I see weekly, I have also been here for acupuncture and cupping in the past. I would definitely recommend them, especially because this place is the real deal.

I’ve been here many times now for acupuncture. Thought Gen Min was professional and reasonably priced.
I bought (at a very reasonable price) a cream for my face that I really like (calms my skin).
She has good bedside manner and doesn’t press selling me herbals.
Parking is easy to find too.

pros… this is a great little chinese herbal shop, and also an acupuncture clinic as well. i have never got a treatment here, but i have gotten some herbs and other stuff here. it is great, they have some good herbal formulas here, both in patents and raw herbs as well. they also have some other prepared medicines for sale. good prices, good service.
cons…they are closed on wednesdays. they do have some parking in the front of the store, but it gets packed real fast. english is not the first language of the people here.
