My wife received a glass blowing gift certificate for two and the experience was way better than we could have anticipated. It was a private lesson and the entire process was completely hands on. Cary walked us through every step and answered any questions along the way. The paperweight and drinking glasses that we made are awesome and we love using them! The weather was cold & perfect for a night in front of the furnace. We had a great time and got a glimpse of what it’s like to work with this material. The setup is so nice, you just show up and he has everything ready to go, quickly get to it and learn by doing, then he takes care of the cleanup! Highly recommend!

Went to this blind on a surprise from my girlfriend and walked towards a warm and rustic yellow Victorian style home and was led to the side of the house to be welcomed by a smiling guy by the name of Cary while rolling glass. I was immediately excited and couldn’t wait to do something I’ve wanted to do for years. Cary was extremely friendly and very knowledgable. He showed us the workshop which was filled with character and charm, as well as being clean, organized and extremely proficient.
Cary walked us through exactly what we would be doing while demonstrating the whole time. He was extremely aware and diligent about our safety while being has helpful and friendly as humanly possible.
We both had an absolutely fantastic time, learned a lot, and got to make some pretty cool things. Thanks to Cary

My husband surprised me with glass blowing lessons for our anniversary. We had a private lesson with Cary last Tuesday evening and it was around 3 hours total. It was seriously one of the coolest things we’ve ever done! Cary was wonderful; he gave us a tour of the studio, showed us each of the tools and how to use them, and provided us with examples of the types of things we could make. Then he actually made a piece so we could see the whole process. He was really friendly, relaxed and patient, so it was super comfortable and unintimidating when it was time for us to make our first pieces.
Cary stayed right beside us throughout the entire process, and gave us both some time to practice using the tools on the glass so we could get used to the feeling of it. We each got to select the colored glass for and create two pieces: a paperweight and a cup. There was comfortable conversation the whole time, and it was such a fun and unique experience.
We just picked up all four pieces, and they’re sooo cool! I want to do it again!

I started looking into glass blowing and wanted to learn more about the craft. So, for our anniversary, I signed my husband and me up for a lesson with Cary.
Cary explained what tools we will be using, what equipment would be used and what they were for.
Before getting our hands on the equipment, Cary demonstrated how we will be handling the tools, how to add color to our glass and more.
Once we were able to get started, Cary was very helpful in assisting us when needed and allowed us to use our imagination when making our paper weights and wine glasses. It was great to see the process of our end products come to life as we rolled the tubes, blew life into them, added color and dimensions to them… What an experience!

He not only taught us what to do, but he was genuinely cared for our safety and truly wanted us to have a good time. We will definitely be doing this again.

I can not say enough amazing things about Cary and his glass blowing classes. I’ve taken around 5 sessions and am always blown (pun intended) away by both te experience of the class and the end product we create. He is patient, entertaining, and incredibly talented. I highly recommend anyone wanting to take a glass blowing class to take it from Cary. You will not be disappointed!

There’s the art of glass bowing and the art of storytelling. Cary is a true artist at both. This priceless experience was worth every penny and the keepsakes we created and got to take home will be a nice reminder of it. Thank you so much Cary. Cary Slone is amazing! His classes are perfect if you don’t know anything about glass. He takes the time to make sure your comfortable with doing the work vice handing you the tools and letting you go. Very good teacher! Definitely worth doing again!

Loved, loved, loved our beginner glass blowing class with Cary. My family of 4 scheduled a session with Cary on February, 16 from 3 to 7. We started right on time with an intro to equipment and tools, where we would be working, what we’d be making, and the whys behind certain techniques that are taken when blowing glass.
Cary was informative, passionate, friendly, patient, had a wealth of knowledge and know how for us with making our individual creations. It really seemed to us that he cared whether or not we had a good experience and he made sure we did. He never rushed us in anyway.
Everyone in my family — my 10 year old son, 21 year old daughter, my husband and I all created beautiful glass objects of our choice and color. We will not go elsewhere for classes because of how awesome Cary was. I guarantee we will be back to create other things. Thanks again Cary!

My girlfriend and I booked a glass blowing session with Cary within one week as a birthday gift, and it was an awesome experience! Cary is a friendly and knowledgeable teacher who kept us entertained with stories and answered a lot of our questions about both art and glass. I hadn’t imagined that glass blowing could be so accessible, but Cary is a fantastic teacher who kept us safe and showed us how to work in an intimidating environment with ease. If you’re interested in blowing glass, I highly recommend Cary.

I set up a session for my fiancé as a Christmas present over a year ago and we loved it so much that we couldn’t stop going back. Cary is awesome — he’s extremely easy to work with and strikes a great balance between safety, making sure you’ll create something great, and letting you actually do the work. It only takes one lesson to make something cool so you get instant gratification — we made two cups and two paperweights in our first lesson, and all of them are beautiful. If you’re looking for a creative outlet, or a way to work with your hands, or just a super fun and different experience, then you can’t go wrong with Cary.

The glass blowing session was a gift for my kids (15 and 17) and they loved creating beautiful pieces of art and function. Pretty cool to drink out of your own blown glass! Cary’s easy going style makes the experience enjoyable. He is an encouraging teacher, talented artist and can pretty much fix anything that is going «off». Appreciate his concern for safety (hey, that glass is HOT!) and willingness to answer our countless questions — the studio has a great vibe and we’ll be back!

Glassblowing with Cary is such a fun way to spend an afternoon! Cary is an amazing teacher and really makes you feel confident and comfortable. He creates an environment that is fun and relaxed. Not only are you learning something cool but it’s also a really great time.
When I took a class from Cary I had never blown glass before. Cary is great at walking you through the steps and making sure you are safe. The best part is you get to walk away with something you created!
Scheduling a class is easy and Cary is really great on the phone. He answered all my questions and I found out you can also purchase gift certificates!

Cary is a fantastic instructor! He makes the process creative and fun. I have taken classes with other instructors, but they were no where near as enjoyable as my classes with Cary. With Cary you actually get to do most of the work. Some other places/​instructors do most of the work for you which is no fun at all. I like being the artist and having the creation be all mine. If you are a person who likes to create and wants involvement in the process, I highly recommend taking classes with Cary. If you are mainly interested in just watching the process and taking home beautiful art, then you could be happy with any instructor. For the full experience, I recommend Cary.

My wife and I have taken two classes from Cary and have loved them. Both times we’ve been very impressed with what we’ve been able to make with Cary’s instruction. We have a third class scheduled.

I took lessons from 5 other glassblowers in San Diego County: Cary had the best technical skills and was the most affable. He was a TA at Pilchuck, the best glassblowing school in the country.
I continued to take lessons from him for a year and he helped me complete an installation for the San Diego Art Department. If you want to come in just once or want to take lessons for a long time Cary is the best teacher in SD

I have always wanted to trying glass blowing, but was also a little scared of the HOT HOT glass. I was thrilled to have a chance to do so in San Diego.
Cary is a competent, easy to learn from teacher who is both watchful and laid back (surfer dude!). During a three hour session, my boyfriend and I were both able to practice collecting glass, mixing colors, beating the hell out of molten glass (fun fun fun!) and eventually great two products we took home the next day. The paper weight project was surprisingly easy to do and a great first attempt. We also made drinking glasses (sized for scotch).
I completely recommend contacting Cary. But note that teaches by appointment only. And please, do make sure that you keep your RSVP, or cancel at least 24 hours in advance. Cary pays for using the furances before each lesson (2000 degrees Faranheight!)
