Happy Head Foot Reflexology & Massage- Downtown

I have gone to the Hillcrest location for three years now as far as I can tell this is probably the best location. I went to your downtown location with my husband back in September and I could literally feel the masseuse basically just touched each portion of my body because I was paying for it. I could feel his entire work shift ini my massage I was unable to relax at all because he was being so vague about the massage. I probably have gotten more relaxed rubbing lotion on my self. Not to mention when we were leaving they insisted that we give a tip, even followed us out the back to the front. I had to advise I only give gratuity when I am satisfied and I was not! I will be taking my business back to the hill crest location.

Great massage for the price! Have been here twice within a week. Front desk is always friendly and helpful and they were accommodating to me in my very late stage of pregnancy :) will def return postpartum.

This place is wonderful. The receptionists are friendly, the masseuse I was assigned to named «grace» was very professional. Once she figured my pressure threshold, she was consistent all the way.
I normally get a full body massage for $ 45 back home. When I moved to San Diego, it was very hard for me to try massage services because it all seemed so commercialized. I prefer businesses that don’t pressure you to get some sort of membership and Happy head filled that void for me.
Book online, its so much more convenient. If they don’t call you within an hour, just call them to check.
I got a deep tissue massage, a upgrade to my usual full body choice. With the price of $ 48… I was able to get a better massage for an extra 3 bucks! Seriously, you can’t beat that!
One thing I wish is that they offered tea instead of water after my massage. Nonetheless, it was wonderful!

I wanted to have a Happy Head. You know, the kind of mindset where you were genuinely content. As us Californian folk like to say, «no worries». ;) So in 2015, I discovered Happy Head two days prior to Comi Con hitting the Gaslamp. I made an appointment to see a massage therapist after the four days of 150,000 of my fellow peeps having great costume fun and engaging in Gaslamp activities to include stressing out (unententionally) all hospitality industry staff. At day 5, I was more than ready to be whisked away to massage lala land. Moral of story. … I’ve been back at least 6 times since. :) Each time I leave with a Happy Head! :)

Really liked this place. Was unsure when we walked in and there was no one in the lobby to greet us for a couple of minutes, but when we actually went back and got the massages, they were great. It is an open room so you may have multiple people in the massage room with you (all fully clothed), we didn’t mind this at all and liked being together. And yes, you do need cash for tip — worth it.

After 5 days at a business conference, and feeling tired and neglected, this place put the life back in me! Amazing service & clean. Bring cash for a tip!

It was ok.
1. Group massage room (I was in a private room though)
2. Paid for the combo reflexology and Swedish. Supposed to last 90 mins. I got an hour.
3. Not a traditional deep tissue/​Swedish massage
4. Back hurt going in, back hurt coming out
5. The combo includes stretching which was nice
6. Noisy. I could hear people talking the whole time
7. Bring cash to tip, be ready for awkwardness as your masseuse stands waiting for it.

Went in while on vacation for an hour and a half massage with Judy. I always get deep tissue because of my profession. I work four 12 hour days as a hairdresser… and have been doing this for 33 years. Judy ROCKED it! She really made my overworked back feel amazing! I have had many massages in those 33 years and she rates right in the top 3! Because of coming in at 10am, I even got $ 5 off! I did get my own room which I appreciated because I did have to walk through the group room to get out and would not have liked that. Probably because I came in when they opened. Anyways, thank you so much for the wonderful massage to Judy and thank you Happy Head for making my massage affordable on my vacation! Wish I lived closer, I would come in regularly with her!

This place is always good ! The deep tissue, stretch massage is the best. Rooms are clean and the staff is pleasant.

If you’re ballin’ on a budget like me, this is a great place. $ 48 buys you a full one hour Swedish or deep tissue massage and it hits the spot. The building is a short walk from my apartment the price and location are great for residents downtown.
They are open later than most other places… for all you creepers, get your head out of the gutter, because they don’t actually give happy head!!! (and if they do I don’t want to know about it!)

Came here after dinner as a random and spontaneous thing to do on our first night in San Diego. It was a pleasant surprise. We had no clue what to expect but we all did the Asian massage head to toe. The masseuse were very good and hit all the right pressure points to make you feel great after. Staff were very professional and the general room was very clean. I would come back again.

Wow this massage left me speechless and in a state of pure bliss. If you’re ever in the San Diego area and need to work on some of them hard knots from life stresses this is the place to come. Start of with a complimentary glass of vino and head with your masseuse for nothing but a relaxing hour. Warning label: you can wake up from a coma after this lol

I absolutely LOVE this place. I was in Downtown with a friend and stumbled across Happy Head after seeing their sign outside. The front desk receptionist, Christina, was so friendly and knowledgable. She was able to get us both exactly what we wanted worked on and I came out feeling like a new person. I will definitely be back. Thank you to my massage therapist Yoyo & front desk Christina for an amazing experience.

We went last night and had a great massage. Nothing negative to say.
Some things to improve on 1. Put on your website that you can only tip by cash. Would’ve been nice to know before we got there.
2. Also, we didn’t realize that the room would be a group setting not an individual room, another good thing to know.

I was visiting San Diego near the gas lamp area and wanted to get a massage and Unilocal said this place was amazing. The name made me wary but having that many reviews and the fact that it was in a decent location made me feel ok about going.
Once I entered, I felt at ease since it was very clean and open. My friend and I decided to try their «4 hand Swedish deep tissue massage» and omg it was the right decision! One person massaging your upper body while the other person does your legs? Uhmazingggg. It was so relaxing and the people were very responsive to my asking them to go harder or lighter.
Note: They also have couples rooms and some massage chairs for the reflexology massages.
Would definitely go back again! Prices are super reasonable and quality massages!

I was in San Diego for a chill vacation and this was the best part of it! Wish they had a location near me. Amazing massage for the price.

* most comfortable massage table
* Friendly receptionist and very knowledgeable on services offered
* Complimentary wine served (I mean com’on, great right?)
* Almost no wait, although four other customers walked in around the same time and was with two other friends (walk-​in)
* Selected the Asian Fusion massage and it was amaaaaaazing. (I have back problems and a lot of stress. This massage successfully helped me fully relax and released all the tension I had on my neck and shoulders)
Bottom line, I will most definitely return when in the San Diego area and completely recommend.

I’m not sure why this place got such high reviews. The establishment was clean and the check in process was pretty fast and friendly. I got the 1 hour body massage and it felt like someone was just rubbing oil on my back with absolutely no pressure at all. I told my therapist that he can go harder, but I think he went lighter?! Yeah I was pretty confused, but I just tried to enjoy it rather than complain. There was no targeted muscle relaxation method on my back or feet, or any other body part. The therapist did concentrate on my hands though, which was good.
All in all, I think this is the place to get a good foot/​hand massage and I would def skip the other stuff.

A group of us came here Friday afternoon, appoinment was not necessary but we gave them heads up since there were 4 of us. $ 30 for 60 minutes and tipped $ 12 for being awesome massage. It was so good, we came back the next day for more. For additional $$$, you can get private room. My only peeve about the private room was that, it was quite cold. Maybe the body heat helped in the communal foot massage room.
If I am in the area, I will definitely go again. It was walking distance from most hotel in gaslamp.

Every single time I go here, that bloody Pharrell song ’ Happy ’ plays in my head… and then again after I leave
dollar for dollar — best in class — you can’t beat it… why go to a pricey frou-​frou spa when good old Happy Head is easy for walk-​ins, a great price/​value ratio, very nice room — very, shall we say, Zen…
it is a big common area with folks going at it at once, but barring you wanting to be in a private room and rip your gear off, you will never know there is anyone here but you and the masseuse — no biggy whatsoever
the last gal worked my hands and feet and fixed me up /​the arms and legs got a good fix too, as did my tense shoulders — and for the finale, she got on her knees and nudged her way north from the bottom — from my legs, up by me bum, carefully up my back and a total repeat on the way down
and yes, they are very well trained and know technique
these Happy Head folks have got it right — 60 mins: in as an old crusty vintage jalopy and out fresh as a daisy

I had a great experience at the Happy Head in PB, but this location sucks!!!
I’ve been to this location three times, and my most recent experience was not very good. I walked in and was helped immediately. I was taken into the group room, and put in the corner massage table. This was awful. There are blinding lights above, so I asked to move. The next spot was much better.
The massage began, and I could immediately tell my therapist was a smoker. Yuck. So while I was getting my head and neck massaged, I had to deal with this super unpleasant smell. Not very relaxing.
When he started to do my foot massage, he began to chit chat with the therapist next to him. I know this is a group setting, but I still shouldn’t have to listen to two people that work there carry on a conversation. So distracting! This continued through much of the massage, though I gave a look that stopped them for a little while haha.
The massage overall was okay, but it was hit or miss of my therapist would listen to me. There was one spot on my foot that was super painful that I was clearly reacting to, and he wouldn’t stop massaging it. Ouch.
I wanted to tell the receptionist my feedback, but the therapists awkwardly line up on a wall waiting for their tips, which I HATE! Can’t you just have an envelope system or something? I mentioned my feedback once he left, and she seemed less than interested.
Will I be back? Only time will tell.
