High Bluff Academy

My daughters experience at High Bluff Academy has been amazing. The teachers are fantastic and offer a level of support that is rare to find. The teachers truly want the students to succeed and make learning interesting and fun, not stressful and overwhelming. Jill has created an environment where all students are supported and nurtured to be the best that they can be. They work around the kids schedules at Torrey Pines which makes it possible for a seamless schedule thus further reducing stress. We are truly grateful to Jill and the entire staff at High Bluff for providing a true gift to students.

High Bluff Academy was clearly the enabling factor that brought success to our daughter’s academic achievement during the ²⁰¹¹⁄₁₂ school year in Math as well as promoting much needed family harmony as well. Not all students are a good fit
for a 1 to ³⁵⁄₄₀ ratio in Math and Science in our lovely California Public School System. Torrey Pines is a fantastic school but public school is just that… public school these days. (I know as I taught it for 30 years in another district in the area)
My daughter was the only student in the Algebra class at High Bluff, taught by an outstanding and dedicated teacher who was able to connect with her on all levels. She was able to attend Torrey for all other classes, which were great and take her 4^th period at High Bluff. I was fortunate to be able to transport her back and forth which is not an option for everyone, but well worth it. Her self esteem soared and she loved Algebra. Important to note that we came in for the 2^nd semester after almost failing the 1^st semester at Torrey with 40 students in the class. The TP teacher was great and truly cared, but one can be expected to give individual attention with class sizes as mentioned above.
My child needed some individualized help to process the material, and she received it at High Bluff. She also attended for Science during the previous summer with 6 students in a class and another outstanding teacher whose love of Science and teacher was evident. Yes, it is very expensive as most «good things are» but we weighed our 2 summer’s vacation plans vs our daughter’s self esteem and academic success and had lots of «Staycations,» Hence we have a child who actually learned something. It is well worth the consideration. Linda L.
