Hillcrest Summit Apartments

Loved it at Hillcrest Summit. Lived there for 5 years. Blanca and Francisco are very good Managers. Location location location! Rent included complimentary parking which was great. Blanca always seems to go out of her way to ensure the comfort of the residents. I give 5 stars because that was my experience.

The management company, Wexford Enterprises, does not care about its residents and should be ASHAMED of itself. Hillcrest Summit is the Wild West of smoking. I’ve lived in two different apartments in this property over the past year. We’ve requested to move twice now due to excessive amounts of smoke entering each apartment (both cigarette and marijuana) from neighbors, which was not and has not been handled after NUMEROUS complaints. Our emails and phone calls go ignored for days and weeks at a time. Wexford Enterprises claims there is «nothing [they] can do.» How is that property management?!
The lease agreement for the building clearly states that smoking must be done only in apartments and «cannot disturb the quiet enjoyment of other tenants.» This is a complete and utter lie. OVERWHELMING, NOXIOUS smoke enters my apartment on a daily basis and the management company tells me it’s MY PROBLEM. (?!) The smoke is so strong that it wakes me, my husband and my baby up at night if we leave a window open. There is no AC in this building and we cannot open our windows because the neighbors SMOKE WEED AND CIGARETTES WITH THEIR WINDOWS OPEN ALL HOURS OF DAY AND NIGHT. Smoke even enters my apartment through cracks in the bathroom fixtures! How disgusting! The management is well aware of these facts and it’s of no consequence of them.
My family has traveled a lot and we have lived in many different apartments. Even we were fooled by the 5-​star Unilocal rating this complex received. We have never been disrespected by a management company (or anyone else, for that matter) like we have been by Wexford Enterprises. I’m truly nonplussed.
Consider yourself warned!

The only place I’ve lived where I can say «I love it here» I’ve moved around so many times and Hillcrest Summit has been good to me.

Friendly and responsive to emails. The process of me moving in along with roommates was so easy and smooth. You get an answer the same day and can even move in asap.
The price I pay for 2bed/​2bath beats the prices in most areas of San Diego, especially in the heart of SD. The neighbors are quiet, friendly and nice. I haven’t met anyone rude yet. I really enjoy my stay here. The managers keep the property clean and I love how festive they get during Halloween and Christmas.
Francisco, Blanca & Robert are so welcoming. They greet you every time you see them.
I love being close to work (5mins), restaurants, grocery stores, bars and even events such as: Pride, Aids Walk, City Fest, etc. walking distance.
You can walk here there everywhere.

I lived in 2 other luxury apartments in Mission Valley before moving to Hillcrest Summit and this is our favorite apartment. Although small, we loved our place. Very convenient to places I wanna go, safe, clean, nice neighbors
friendly maintenance and best caretakers. Our kitchen got flooded twice but they clean and fix it right away. It is easy to deal with Robert, Blanca and Francisco and the 2 maintenance guys and they have been helpful in every way they can. They are the bigggest asset of Wexford enterprises. I think they need a raise as the building is always taken cared of.

Living at the Hillcrest Summit Apartments was an absolute pleasure. My boyfriend and I moved to San Diego from NY and Blanca was so sweet and helpful in helping us (via email and telephone) to get all of the paperwork completed.
The apartment was extremely clean and newly remodeled upon our move in. We rented a one bedroom/​one bathroom apartment which had included granite countertops and a dishwasher. Considering the location and quality of the apartment, rent was comparably inexpensive. The location itself is entirely walkable which my boyfriend and I really enjoyed. There are an endless amount of delicious restaurants, as well as shops, wine bars, food and drug stores all in walkable distance to the complex.
It is also incredibly centralized to a lot, including the airport (5 – 10 minute drive), the beach (10 minute drive), the mall (5 minute drive), sea world (10 – 15 minute drive), Downtown (5 minute drive), Balboa park and the San Diego Zoo (5 – 10 minute drive) if that.
As a tenant, you have access to their small gym, relaxing jacuzzi deck and bbq/​outdoor eating area which was a nice amenity to have! They also have an underground parking garage for tenants which was completely awesome.
Francisco, Blanca and Robert were all amazing and made our entire experience all the more enjoyable. I have friends living in other apartment complexes nearby who have complained about never being able to get in touch with their landlords, property managers, etc, but at Hillcrest Summit that was never the case. They all live on premise and seemed to be available whenever was necessary which was great.
I would highly recommend the Hillcrest Summit apartments to anyone looking for an affordable, yet quality apartment!!!

Everyone who works there is very nice, genuine, and the atmosphere is extremely quiet (unless you are near #119 because the garbage truck can be quite loud every morning). We didn’t like that the apartment doesn’t have A/​C but we did live there during one of the hottest summers that SD has ever had (2012). We highly recommend it!

I loved living here it was a great location and walking distance to all the great places to eat and drink in hillcrest. My apartment was very spacious and the bathrooms and kitchen were newly remodeled. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends who want to live in the area. I can’t think of two nicer people than Blanca and Francisco who run the building. They are listen to your needs and are very quick to help. Great value for what you pay for here.

Oh Hillcrest Summit, how I loved thee. Let me count the ways…
1)Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez clearly love their apartment complex and pretty much know the people who live here. I often see Mrs. Sanchez vacuuming the floors herself or Mr. Sanchez doing some sort of maintenance. They live in the complex and are really easy to get a hold of.
2)The rent is great for the area, and within walking distance of everything. Plus, the neighbors are very quiet, though there can be some minor ambient noises such as ambulances or helicopters (This place is next to a hospital afterall)
3)Parking is underground and the spots are tiny, but if you need more space you can park on the street with a parking permit that costs 14 dollars a year.
I really honestly wish I didn’t have to move but personal circumstances dictated otherwise. *cries* I hope the next complex I live in is at least half as decent as the summit.

My family lived here for a few years and we absolutely loved it! The location is great for walking just about anywhere… Hillcrest, Mission Hills, North Park, Balboa Park. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful despite the proximity to the bars. The managers were great and very responsive to anything that came up. It has an underground parking garage since parking is so difficult in that area. I would definitely recommend it.

I have lived at Hillcrest Summit Apartments for about a year and a half now. If you have to flush some rent money down the toilet every month, this is a good place to do it. The apartments are a good value for their convenient location in Hillcrest. You can walk to many restaurants, coffee shops, CVS, a couple of gyms, etc. and it is close to the 163 and the 5.
The place isn’t fancy, but it works. The property managers are superb and seem to know all of the residents. Since they also live here, it is much easier to get a response than other places I have rented. They are almost always around, which is nice when you need something.
I’m sure you can find more detailed reviews on other sites concerning the amenities, but overall it has been an enjoyable place to live.
