This is seriously one of my favorite restaurants in SD. Everything I’ve tried on their menu is good, but my favorites are the wonton and dumpling noodle soup and the fish porridge. Porridge is often pretty bland but theirs has a perfect balance of fried garlic and ginger. So freaking good! And they’re both perfect to cure a hangover or a cold. The owners are also very friendly and welcoming.

Also known as Tan Ky Mi Gia. Went here on a Wednesday during lunch because Minh Ky was closed. A co-worker suggested this place as it was similar to Minh Ky. I had the BBQ Pork Fried Rice and have also had it at the afore mentioned restaurant. It was good and the service was good but the portions are not as big and the prices are a bit higher and they«ONLYACCEPTCASH». No checks, credit or debit cards. Makes it inconvenient if you don’t have cash. Luckily I had cash on this rare occasion. You lost a star though, due to not at least accepting credit or debit cards. Not crowded at all with plenty of tables and is located in the same parking lot as the Phở Ca Dao restaurant on the Southeast corner of El Cajon Blvd and 52nd Street. Similar to Minh Ky restaurant. Just remember to bring cash.

Incredible restaurant. They make the best beef chow fun(dry) in town! I prefer mine with vegetables and it’s cooked fresh so he is more than happy to make it with veggies for me. I’ve also had the beef stew with egg noodles, fried rice and egg noodle soup(delicious!) Great customer service. Not the fanciest restaurant but definitely authentic and delicious

The bf actually pulled up Tan Ky on Unilocal but as we approached the restaurant, I informed him that we have been here before. We remembered that we did like this place. Again, we enjoyed it and this time ordered the vietnamese pancake along with the same dishes we had last time. It was not packed inside at all. Probably three other tables filled while we were eating. The service was attentive. The bf was a little disappointed bc he was expecting more similar flavors to Min Ky. But, I enjoyed it. I’m sure we’ll be back!

I’ve been consistently coming here for over 5 years now and nothing has changed. The noodles and broth are just as good as the first time. Wontons are always fresh! Plus I love their customer service :)

Easily the best wonton noodle soup PERIOD. The broth is amazing. They are generous with the papaya and pork skin. The server, I think his name is Chansy? He’s such a friendly guy and really makes you feel welcomed. 6⁄5STARS

Ordered the wonton & dumpling egg noodle soup and the beef tendon egg noodle soup. Decent prices and the service was fairly quick. The wonton & dumpling soup was very delicious! It’s a great way to brighten up a cold weather. The beef tendon was absolutely my favorite! There was a good amount of beef and tendon. They were both cooked well and it was oh so tender! If you got soup cravings and want quick and decent customer service, this is the place to go! :D

Hole in the wall Cantonese food with Vietnamese influence. Nothing has really changed, I would eat here again. They make food that reminds me of my pawpaw, it’s not as good but I’ll take what I can get. I ordered my duck with noodle soup to go. I got two boxes: one of noodles, chives, scallions and duck, and another container of chicken broth. I ate like a piggy then fell into an immediate food coma. The owner is the same as when it was Tanh Ky. They said they sold the name to another restaurant? I noticed on Unilocal there is a Tank Ky up in Mira Mesa. There aren’t too many good Chinese places in SD and over the years, my expectations of them have been lowered. The duck wasn’t fresh, but the flavoring was good. Why is it that the best tasting restaurants are always in the scariest of places?

Small mom & pop shop. Nothing attractive about this place but sometimes great food comes out of small shops and this is one of them. They offer many different noodles & rice. I always get the # 31BBQ pork w/egg noodles. Prices are worth it. They also do party trays. Good noodle place.

Don’t love. Maybe it’s TOO authentic. I’m not sure but it didn’t taste like it should. I will not be back.

This is a very nice surprise. I love good soups. Went for the beef stew w/tendon. Since I’m white they warned me about the tendons. I told them that’s why I ordered it and they totally didn’t give me any. No, big deal, it was still delicious. Noodles were a tad mushy but everything else was right on. They need better quality coffee. Should of went for their wontons and dumplings. I’ll be all over those the next time.

What a surprise. On the outside this place looks like a dive and inside it’s clean, but not a place to impress your future in-laws, but if they roll that way then it’s fine. Overall, I had a good experience, I ordered a vegetarian rice noodle soup(not on the menu) and it was delicious. I can’t complain about anything. I got what I expected for less than $ 10(soup and lemon ice tea).

I went here on a week night, after work. This place is not easy to find, after sundown. It is in the corner of an L shape building, and the parking is not well lit. Plus the sign is of a different name. Confusing. The restaurant was empty of customer when I stepped in. The waiter was yawning. Half of the restaurant had the light turned off. Hmm. I ordered the noodle soup with roast duck(menu item 14? — not sure). The broth was good and flavorful. The noodle was just right. But the duck was dry and very tough. I was eating a rubber duck, not a roast duck. Perhaps, the duck was way over cooked, since there was no customer to consume. Not recommended.

Hidden in the corner of the Phở Ca Dao and Vien Dong complex, this gem has great Chinese food that is very reasonably priced. it is a simple restaurant that is roomier and tastier than Minh Ky down the road. Their dishes are a little heavy on the MSG.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their wontons and dumplings! It’s definitely my go-to-place for wontons. During the cold winter months, I would order the wontons and dumplings egg noodle soup to warm me up. During the hot summer, I would switch it up and order it with the soup on the side… they put this sauce just over the egg noodles that is so flavorful. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.

This is my go-to noodle shop for years! I’ve tried many of their dishes and it simply hasn’t disappointed! Their classic wonton and dumpling noodle soup is always popular. The wontons and dumplings are well flavored, the broth is on point, and it comes with bbq pork slices! I also love eating their duck leg noodle soup. It has a different soup base and the duck leg is nicely marinated and very soft and tender. It also comes with a dish of papaya on the side which I love to dip with the sriracha hot sauce! On days where I don’t feel like eating soup, I love ordering the young chow fried rice. Every single bite is guaranteed to be filled with rice, peas/carrots, bbq pork, chinese sausage, eggs and shrimp! This is a family owned restaurant and the folks are so warm and welcoming! The wife is the chef that makes all the delicious food that comes out of the kitchen. The service is definitely excellent quality, they always refill my water and would sometimes just chat me when they’re not so busy. This gem is a hole in the wall restaurant, literally hidden in the corner of a shopping center. But must try!

If you want ambiance, don’t come here. But, if you want a good bowl of cheap Chinese noodles, then this is a good place to go. The noodles were cooked perfectly and their portions were generous. The broth was seriously delicious. I preferred their BBQ pork noodles to their duck noodles, but both were good. The restaurant’s staff were speaking Vietnamese and listening to Vietnamese radio, but they sell really good Chinese-style noodle soups. I do think the owners should invest a little bit in making the restaurant look more inviting and aesthetically pleasing.

I wonder why there is no review of this place until now. They have the best noodle soup in the area and very affordable. Original owner of Minh Ky. I have been eating there ever since they move to this address. Spare ribs noodle soup and beef stew with rice are my favorites; just something you can’t get anywhere else.

YUM! Best Noodle in San Diego. Period! I liked Minh Ky, but friend of mine told me the original Minh Ky used to be better. The previous owner of Ming Ky sold the business and opened up Hing Ky down the same street, so we all went for dinner last Sunday. Lucky my friend had their card, since I couldn’t find the restaurant on Unilocal. I decided to put it on here so everyone can easily find this place. It is located in a big plaza where World Foods Supermarket and Phở Ca Dao is. It has plenty of parkings, and it is right next to the supermarket, in the corner. I got the flavored duck over noodles with dumplings(a dollar more), I have never tasted such a good noodle soup. Authentic noodles, decent price and huge portions, I will probably go back very often. The waiters are extremely friendly, service is A+
