I’m amazed that I am the first to review the centerpiece of the Qualcomm campus. We brought a group of 20+ people from all over Latin America — start-up entrepreneurs, incubators, accelerators, venture capitalists and interpreters to see the start-up of all start-ups: Qualcomm. Our tour guide? Irwin Jacobs himself, who has to be the nicest guy in San Diego.(His employees call him Irwin.) Dr. Jacobs explained how he and two colleagues started Likabit in 1966 around his dining room table. It’s now Qualcomm with 30,000 employees and $ 20 bn in annual sales. After a photo in front of Qualcomm’s Patent Wall, we bid farewell to Dr. J and got tours of the Quacomm museum. Amazing. Parking is free. No surprisingly the wifi is excellent. Controlled access to the campus: you can’t get on without an appointment.
