International Traveler’s House was founded to create memorable, authentic and unique experiences for travelers. We do this through taking guests on FREE adventures and providing complimentary hot breakfasts and home cooked dinners. Daily activities include surfing lessons, sailing, snorkeling, hiking, yoga beach trips, pub-​crawls and more!

Conveniently located in Little Italy for travelers looking to enjoy the action of the San Diego nightlife. Amazing restaurants and popular bars are all within walking distance. Travelers can easily access all of San Diego’s top activities.

The external floor plan offers lots of outdoor space to meet other travelers. The unique design of our historic Victorian building creates a social, friendly and fun atmosphere. Guest parties frequently take place in the evenings.

We have several room options, including Bungalows, female only rooms, dorm style rooms and private rooms. All rooms have been equipped with the latest bed designs, giving you a comfortable night sleep. We also have free Wi-​Fi, computers and iPads for guest use.

By staying at ITH, you become a part of a community dedicated to creating global, cultural and community centric sustainable relationships. You are also supporting the sustainable measures we strive to implement in each of our hostels.

Our main objective at the International Travelers House Hostel is to entertain guests with social activities and provide a platform for travelers to meet and experience other cultures from around the world all under the same roof.

I only stayed here one night, but I thought this was a fantastic budget friendly hostel. I stayed in the farmhouse, which was probably a lot quieter than the main house. I had no noise issues at all. The bedding was clean, (almost appeared brand new, in fact) and I thought the little welcome note on my bed was a nice touch. Front desk staff were very kind, and check in/​out was simple and convenient. I didn’t take advantage of any of the planned events or meals, but I probably would have if I’d been staying longer. I was able to find a free parking space just down the street, and the surrounding neighborhood was very quiet and seemed safe. I walked to the Gaslamp District and to Little Italy alone and felt perfectly comfortable. I would 100% stay at ITH again on any future San Diego visit.

I had such an incredible time staying here. The staff was so helpful and welcoming, meals are included and delicious, and the community of guests is wonderful. Finding myself wondering why I’ve ever stayed in a hotel in San Diego before. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to have cheap lodging in an amazing location with great people.

This place. Where do I start? This place is a place where you can be a human being, connect on serious levels as individuals, or as a group. I’m going on my third week here. This feels like my home away from home here in San Diego. These people have been so personable with me. I had a situation where we had to check out at 11 a.m. we didn’t get picked up until 11 at night. We stuck around and lounged all day. Slept on the couch, and when dinner came around they let us eat with them. Even seconds. I don’t think they would just do that for anybody. I’m not saying I’m special. I just think this place gives you the opportunity to be genuine friends with the staff and guests. I had a moment last week where I played music for some of the guests and staff in the lounge room. I broke into tears after the song after seeing someone else cry. I just went through a break up. These people just comforted me through it. That is why this place gets a well deserved 5 stars. The people are so real. So down to earth. I love you ITH

San Antonio, TX
Stayed here in a recent trip to San Diego. Had a great time and met some great people. The atmosphere is similar to a first year dorm experience. I stayed in a four bed room with my friend. The room is secured by a digit code used to open the door and locks to use in the rooms. The lockers are small but big enough to fit purses and small valuables. The staff are polite and helpful, however check in can be hectic. They are super accommodating after check out by allowing you to store your luggage and hang out until you need to leave. The location is perfect, just a short über ride from downtown and close to attractions. The hostel provides opportunities to attend group trips for free although I didn’t take advantage. The atmosphere is open, casual and fun! It was cool being one of the few Americans there and hearing stories from other travelers from other countries. Fellow travelers were funny and cool and willing to hang out and transport each other. It’s definitely a place to go to meet fun diverse people. Two meals are provided daily which is cool but I didn’t take advantage of the meals so I can’t comment on it, however the other patrons said it was good :). They need to work on keeping bathrooms stocked with toilet paper, but other than that it’s good.

Easy to Find and Nearby street parking were very convenient, Staff were friendly and very laid back. Smaller Hostel at least the main house inside, the outside has room to meet up and talk with people.
They provide a dinner which was wonderfully made by a friendly staff member from Wisconsin. Only bummer was that I missed trip they had planned for the day. Hope to return and go on some of the adventures that they do through out the week. Within walking distance to many places to eat and bars.
Rooms, bathrooms and showers were clean and well stocked. Towels are free. Overall enjoyed my stay at this hostel very much would recommend to a friend or even an enemy.

I have to say. This hostel was the best I’ve ever stayed at… that is right up until the point the staff decided to ask me to leave at 1am all because one of their other guests had the nerve to accuse me of theft… Doesn’t matter that there were no witnesses, no evidence, I have no prior record, no motive, and the fact that the cops that I requested to be there didn’t arrest me or charge me with anything.
This has been the single most embarrassing, degrading, humiliating experience of my adult life. Thank you for a wonderful experience prior to this disappointing display of mismanagement and hospitality though.

This was my first hosteling experience. While in California I stayed in 3 hostels, and ITH adventure hostels was a cut above the rest. The staff really makes this place special. Shout out to Chris for the good tunes and taking us on a wicked bar crawl!

This hostel literally made our trip. The people are amazingly friendly and rad. GO HERE if you want to up your experience and take advantage of all they have to offer. We sat outside talking for hours to people from all over the world (Italy, Australia, etc.) Definitely the way to go if you’re planning on visiting San Diego. Clean adorable and affordable.

This hostel is ridiculously cute. There is a main two-​story house and four nearby bungalows.
The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful. Their level of patience I have never before seen in my life. The bathrooms are cleaned twice a day and all have ventilation fans.
The owners’ commitment and love of their business shows. The staff told me there’s always some improvements going on and I saw it with my own eyes. When owners of any business take loving care of said business, it’s an invitation for all to love it with the same adoration.
Activities are planned everyday and they offer free breakfast and dinner. WiFi worked everywhere and the network with passwords were plainly displayed on the wall. Bright vibrant colors and cute décor. So amazing, so fun, and located near everything.
Highly recommend!

Long Beach, CA
Only needing a place to sleep before the SD Rock N Roll marathon, I decided to stay with this hostel which was pretty cool! I only stayed for one night but wish I stayed longer to join in the fun activities going on. I arrived around 6 PM and met up with a few visitors at the hostel, some in the common room and my suite mates, all very friendly. Because I already ate with some friends before arriving, I did not have dinner at the hostel but I sat in with some who did, and talked with them. all very cool! The food looked good too. My suite was pretty colorful and youthful, reminds me of the dorms in college.
Because I had to get up early the next morning for my marathon, I had to sleep early in which my suite mate was kind enough to turn off the lights to let me sleep. There were still stuff going on outside but the free ear plugs they provided helped a lot. Overall a very nice stay in this hostel.

We stayed 7 nights although we first only booked 5. The hostel has an amazing vibe, it feels like a huge family coming together to eat the free homemade breakfast/​dinner, watch a movie or go out to daily free activities. The young staff is absolutely friendly and you can have a great time with them. The hostel itself represents the colorful and fun lifestyle of the people and is really clean. The only thing you should pay attention to is to bring earplugs, because many rooms are out to the busy front street and seems many people arrive late at night and leave early because of the close location to the airport.

Cutest Hostel! Picking up my buddy…
This Hostel is located on the outskirts of the Gaslamp/​Little Italy but still close enough to be able to access all of downtown.
I haven’t stayed the night but I picked up a friend that stayed here for a week.
There is a chill spot to lounge outside, a kitchen area filled with postings for Daytime & nighttime activities around town, and a huge mural painting on the wall of Ron Burgundy in the common room. Stay Classy, SD!
The rooms have 3 bunks and all are named different things… If I had my choice, I would book the Leonardo DiCaprio bed… in my wildest dreams only, haha!
The staff is really quirky and cool! They have awesome stuff up on all the walls. I really like how they have «HELLO» in different languages painted on all the steps leading upstairs.

This was a great hostel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hostel was clean and well maintained, and the included meals were delicious! It was also very affordable. Although I personally did not go on any of the organized trips, there were plenty to choose from and the staff were always happy to answer questions. The hostel is in a great location with lots of shops and restaurants and only a few blocks from plenty more. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a great place to stay while visiting San Diego.

If you’re planning a visit to San Diego, this is a fantastic spot to stay! Here are my thoughts …
The House;
As far as hostels go, this is PRIME real estate! It’s eco friendly, clean, comfortable, has an amazing vibe, great décor and it’s location is hard to beat! Right on the outskirts of downtown Gaslamp Quarter and bordering Little Italy, you are just steps away from all that San Diego has to offer. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms give plenty of privacy and there are lots of comfy places to chill throughout the house.
The Staff;
In one word, AMAZING. Being an avid traveler myself, I feel like the staff can really make or break your experience in where you choose to stay. The staff at International Travelers House goes above and beyond any expectations you could possibly have. They are there, not only to help you acclimate to a new city … but also to ensure that you experience San Diego in it’s entirety and that you have the absolute best time doing it. They will welcome you with open arms and by the time you leave you will feel like you have a new extended family!
Extras;
Complimentary breakfast and dinner from their fantastic chef, James. Walking tours of downtown, Little Italy and Balboa Park. Morning yoga and meditation. Poker night, taco Tuesday, trivia, pub and club crawls and movie nights. Football, bocce ball, surfing and sailing … guided snorkeling, destination hikes (waterfalls, swimming holes etc) …
