So I was bit worried after I placed an order for a t-​shirt and didn’t hear back after a couple of weeks. I finally received an e-​mail that they did not have my size in a particular style, and had been looking around for it. They gave me a little credit for my trouble and I ended up ordering another shirt.
It came in the mail rather speedily, and I was very happy with it. In the process I came to know Shane Clayton in the Shipping and Receiving department, and he helped me and responded to my every e-​mail with speed and graciousness. I have since ordered many other UNIQUE t-​shirts that only J-​list has. no problems whatsoever. Thank you JLIST for having unique items and giving me great customer service

pros…this is just one of the places that i hit up when i go to con, thanks linda S for the ticket again. i like to go to con on the first day and get all my shopping done and over with. i have a one day pass and i use for the next 2 – 4 hours, and then i’m done. i will wait till the next year to get more t-​shirts. and yes all i get are t-​shirts, and if you are into unique japanese/​japanimation shirts, this is one of the booths to get them. as they are usually quite reasonably priced.
i go just for the quality of shirt and the cool and unique animé characters on the fronts. the shirts are thick, but not too thick, and they hold up well. some other shirts are quite thin. these manage to also stay soft as well. the prints on them are pretty heavy duty and they stand up well to years of wear and washes. i have not yet had a shirt fall apart or fade too badly, and i have shirts going back 9 – 10 years. but then i have a lot of shirts which basically get rotated.
i also love that you get little goodies in the very shiny and colorful bag. usually tissues, or some kind of animé set of eye patches. all in all a good time at the booth. also love that they have a lot of other fun stuff there to buy. learning japanese, then get the flash cards for kanji or one of the alphabets. want a stuffed animal? they have it.
cons…well i see that the actual store front in down town is not nearly up to par. but i guess if you go in person for just what they have on sale, then you can’t go wrong. so this review is not for the storefront, but just the booth at comic con.

I ordered a magazine subscription for Animedia Magazine on October 13^th 2013 for $ 12 and I paid $ 16 extra for EMS Express Shipping (3 – 5 days). Total is $ 28. I get the confirmation email with my invoice details, etc. It’s now November 7^th and I don’t have my magazine, tracking information, or any confirmation that it’s been shipped or processed. I go on the website and check to see what’s going on and there is absolutely NO information whatsoever about my order.
I’ve contacted J-​List representatives by email (because there is no customer service number.) several (and I mean SEVERAL) times, but they keep telling me that my subscription starts in November. Uhh yeah okay.
So this guy named Nicholas emails me after I demand that my November issue of Animedia be shipped and that I be given tracking information (There is one in stock on the website. or so it says). He tells me that he can get me the October issue and I clearly told him that I wanted the November one. I’d be fine with the October issue, but now that it’s November I want to keep up with the new animé. Anyways, he emails back and told me that my card was declined. Why was he trying to charge me? I already paid $ 28 on the 13^th of October. Does this money just get wasted? Basically they wanted me to pay $ 28 for nothing, and then another $ 28 for the actual magazine to be shipped. My next billing cycle is November 13^th and I will NOT be renewing my subscription if this is how they work (which seems that it is based on other customer reviews).

I love J-​List. I first heard about it from my ex-​bf, who I think has met or knows the owner, Peter Payne. This was back in the late 90s when my bf and I were both students at SDSU.
J-​List was (and still is) the site to go for truly unique Japanese goods — from the clean to the NSFW. LOL! I’m talking about DVDs, apparel, kitchenwares, snacks and more.
Their selection changes quite often, so I will visit the site at least a couple of times a week. One of the most KAWAII things I’ve bought was the Hello Kitty eyeglass holder.
Some of the items ship from San Diego, while I think most items ship direct from Japan. The items I have bought shipped from Japan, and I must say the shipping is pretty fast for items in stock.
If you don’t have time to peruse the web site, I suggest signing up for the e-​mail list. There’s always a lot of fun and interesting things in the newsletters.

I’ve been a customer since 2001. A great selection of pop-​culture Japanese goods in general. It’s nice that they separate the G-​rated stuff from the adult stuff.
I grew up on animé & manga, so this site is heaven for me! Only wish they had a physical store in San Diego.
Staff are helpful and have personally answered some questions I sent them. Shipping is reasonable (considering most of the merchandise ships direct from Japan). Availability of stock is decent. They HAVE run out of stuff on occasion, but they are the ultra-​rare items. So, can’t fault them for it.
If you are into hentai (if u don’t know what it means, then it’s probably not for u), then this is one of the best sites around. Definitely recommended!

wow, how in the world did i not review J-​List before. i used to love them, mainly for their awesome stock of japanese candy. if only it didn’t take forever to get it.
–2 stars though… because the one time i ordered a t-​shirt from them, the color was only sort of similar to the color in the picture. also because i personally don’t understand the whole Yulia Nova phenomenon (i feel strongly about this because i am russian). and also, because my last order was shipped like 8 weeks ago and nobody has responded to my emails. considering how much the shipping costs, i would have hoped for a response, at least.

This was what I would call an online store for Japanese pop culture items from Japan. I think I first found this place online when I was looking for Hello Kitty items. I am a 4^th generation American, so some the Japanese stuff seemed crazy fun or hilarious to me, stuff I never saw before.
They have Japanese snack foods, Hello Kitty Items, manga, toys, games, clothes, cell phone accessories and porn. There is a whole adult section on dating sim games, dvd’s, photos, and toys. The Japanese are as freaky as us!
I get an emailed newsletter every month to tell me of the new items and what is the newest thing in Japanese pop culture. Funny and interesting stuff.
