Java Earth Cafe

I live down the street, never knew how big the menu was. Bagels, burritos, breakfast plates, paninis, baked goods.
Upon walking in it was very hot inside. They had some fans going and I understand it’s probably an old building. There was a fan blowing on all the baked goods. Though they looked good, I probably wouldn’t have ordered any pastries.
Baristas were busy but they were fast. 10minute-​ish wait for 2 drinks and 2 plates of food. Veggie bagel was good, although they ran out of bagels so I got mine on toast, just as good. Soy chorizo burrito was good also, can’t really go wrong with a burrito.

The coffee is okay. My problem is that the 3 times I have been in here, the girls behind the counter could really care less. Customer service is pretty bad and I feel like they would rather be on their phones. They barely make eye contact, and I don’t think I have heard a «please, thank you» or even «have a good day.»

Think the staff need a lesson in customer service. When you own/​run a small business, you take care of your customers… please don’t hold grudges or unhappy attitudes when I get my coffee.

This is a updated review from 3 stars to 1 star. I like ONE DRINK there. I get it the same every single time. I go in about 2 – 3 times a week. We can just say I have distinct characteristics and if you cant recognize me after 2 months of going there then I’m sorry but then your one unobservant motherfucker. Iv worked in the restaurant business so yes of course I always tip. I know my drink and right when I took a sip this morning I knew it was wrong i hadn’t even left the counter when I asked to have it remade. The big girl with really pretty eyes rolled those suckers right in my face and said I would have to pay for another one if I wanted a different drink. I didn’t want a DIFFERENT drink I just wanted what I ordered and paid for. Regardless, being the broke college student I am I didn’t want to pay another 6 bucks for a stupid coffee, but when I sat down thinking about it I was like hmmmmmm Iv probably tipped well over 30 bucks here total I should honestly get what I god damn paid for. So I went up again still having only taken one sip and nicely explained the situation to the other girl working. She squinted her eyes at me like I was asking some off the wall request and then finally said yes they would remake it. I’m going to assume Java Earth is family owned and I get the whole nickel and dime kinda deal. I worked at a juice bar in La Jolla that was very small and family owned, even if a rando walked in and didn’t like something I would apologize and asked if I could remake it for them. I get pinching pennies, but I also get the concept of customer service and the value of a loyal customer.

Amazing dark French roast coffee, which is why I come here every single morning. And for the friendly local regulars, seeing the Java Earth team behind the counter is like seeing family. Everyone there knows what I order and exchanging even a short hello makes my day and is why I’m loyal to Java Earth!

A damn good cup of coffee. I’ve always driven by this place with the intention of stopping in some day, and I’m really glad I finally did. Their coffee is awesome and the options (including Stumptown cold brew on tap!) are plentiful. Their menu for food was also long, and included bagels, sandwiches, burritos, and even something as simple as avocado on toast. Yum! I chose the lox bagel, and while it was good, the quality of the lox and a somewhat burnt bagel drop this place to four stars for me (along with a less than enthusiastic cashier). They do have free wifi and lots of seating, both indoors and out — most of it is uncomfortable hard benches/​chairs though, as well as bathrooms that are clean and don’t require a key/​passcode to get in.
Overall, I’m very happy with this place and look forward to a return visit where they’ll redeem themselves and earn that fifth star. Did I mention their coffee is awesome?

The coffee tastes funny and the burrito was soggy and completely tasteless. I handed it back to the people at the counter barely eaten and they never even bothered to ask if there was anything wrong with it.

Saying I am disappointed in what this place has become would be an understatement. Years ago I gave this place a glowing 5 star review b/​c the service was so good now I’m sad to see it has gone downhill. I used to live right next to it for many years and would frequent it as a regular, the food was great, the vibe was great and the service USED TO BE awesome! I haven’t been back in about two years and went this past Sunday (Easter Sunday for hells sake) and was beyond disappointed in the customer service. The two girls working behind the counter were so incredibly rude to every customer that came in and looked as though they hadn’t showered and hung-​over or just bitter to be there (heaven forbid they are EMPLOYED in a beautiful beach city serving happy beach people).
The baristas working the front were BOTH very snotty and short with every customer to the point I thought it was a hidden camera prank or something. When ordering I even asked the blonde girl taking our order what she recommended and very rudely she said «I don’t know, just whatever» … In fact, even while sitting outside I overheard almost every customer leaving comment on how rude the employees were.
Coffee shops are meant to have a friendly welcoming environment with happy people let alone employees that SMILE. Anywho’ I’ll probably still visit this place on occasion b/​c of the nostalgia I have for it, I just hope the customer service improves dramatically in which case I will gladly re-​review.

Although they have pretty good food & drinks, I gave it one star because bad customer service can really spoil a good place.

A bit rude. A bit stressful with construction and waiting in line. Not the vibe I was hoping for based on other reviews. And the cashier was rude and I can only hope my crossaint can save this experience.

I am here now. I must have been in a mood the last time I wrote this review because I love this place. Today is what feels like the first day of fall in San Diego and I am cozied up in the corner with Oatmeal and a delicious cup of coffee on a wonderfully comfortable chair. I also stopped by last week for a cup of coffee because I had a hair appointment across the street and my pallet was delighted by shockingly delicious coffee (because sadly I have become a Starbucks junkie).
The coffee here is noticeably tasty and different then other coffee shops. I don’t order anything fancy, just drip coffee and it is so yummy.

Long overdue review, but considering it’s been several months since my visit to Pacific Beach and I’m still missing some of the wonderful treats from this shop I figure it’s about time!
I copied a regular and ordered a honey vanilla latte with coconut milk, which was an absolute eye opener for me. All the coffee drinks I tried were good, but the food is what really got me excited. Their pesto, particularly the sandwich on whole wheat bagel was so yummy, and that week (maybe always?) they had a totally guilt-​free oatmeal «cookie,» with nuts and dried fruit. Half of that was easily enough to stave off mid-​morning munchies. Loved all the health-​conscious options! There were definitely more items on the menu, along with daily specials, that I would have loved to try.
The service was good, and the interior was nice and clean — not intimidating at all. The location was pretty accessible, particularly if you’re walking from the adjacent neighborhoods. It was definitely dog-​friendly, and there were a lot of dog owners hanging out in the morning. Wish I could find something like this locally in MN!

I’ve been going around San Diego in search of the best study spots, and this is definitely one of them.
First of all, the interior is simple and neat — not overly cluttered and chaotic, nor bare. There are plenty of large tables to work at as well as several comfy couches. While there only seems to be street parking (mostly limited to 2 hours), it’s not difficult to find.
As for the menu, there is a large selection of food and drinks. I tried the iced matcha latte, and it was just fantastic — no powder residue at the bottom, like at some other places I’ve been to.
The only downside is that since it’s located right on the street, you can hear the traffic going by. But even this is not a huge deterrent, and I will definitely be back in the future when I need a good study spot and drinks! :)

Ever since the big squeeze got bought out by some corporate juice bar I have been searching for my new place to get an acai bowl.
there is no shortage of places along garnet but I wanted the best. I came across this place off garnet parking is a little easier. It has a one off feel, authenticity, and some good eats.
I came for the acai bowl and stayed for the avocado toast the girl with the curly brown hair must be an avocado whisperer because when i order it from her it is always perfectly ripe avocado generously spread over the toast just the way I like it. No little baby slices that would make you wanna slap yo momma. Then it perfectly seasoned to order.
The smoothies and coffee are good to. Not sure why this place does not have a 5 star rating its worth the trip for some morning grindage less than a mile away from the ocean.

I’m only giving this place 4 stars because I haven’t tried their food nor coffee yet but their tea latte and customer service was ON POINT. I will be updating my review once I try their food!
This is my first time at this café and I love the spacious atmosphere and of course my customized tea latte! I am coffee-​fasting so I didn’t know what to order and the beautiful barista suggested a loose-​leaf chai tea latte, which is tea with steamed milk of my choice. She suggested that she likes the loose-​leaf more than the original chai tea latte since it’s not made of powder and she tastes more of the spice than the sweetness. I was surprised at how honest she was about what chai tea latte is originally made of. So I went with the loose-​leaf. Plus, she confirmed that it wasn’t coffee :) And not to mention their tea bag is huge!
Although I was bummed not being able to try their delicious coffee that they were offering, I will definitely be back!

Java café is celebrating their 5 years and it’s obvious the locals love this place. I am new to PB and was recommended Java Earth. I recently have been addicted to acai bowls and am on a mission to taste and compare these berry bowl from café to café. As far as ambiance it’s a simple yet adorable ambiance and the staff is busy but really nice. They also are dog friendly inside and out of the building.
My friend and I ordered an Acai Works bowl and a soyrizo burrito. The soyrizo burrito is BOMB. If you haven’t tried soyrizo before, in my opinion you cannot tell it’s not real sausage and has got great flavor with only a fraction of the fat. Swap out the hash browns for black beans and order light or no cheese and you have a decently healthy meal as far as brekky burritos go.
The acai bowl was large and about a dollar cheaper than Turquoise Café but it was really soupy and kind of warm. Not my favorite acai bowl. We got iced coffees and they were just okay (a little stale) too. 3.5 stars for now with the soupy acai and because a place with «Java» in the title should have better coffee but they do have a lot of other fun breakfast food items (that avocado toast is calling my name!) and drink flavors that I’m wanting to try so I’d definitely come back.

I’ve visited Java earth a few times for coffee but never actually ate there until this past weekend.
My bf and I decided to try a different coffee shop due to one of our favorites being closed for a remodel and our second favorite recently raising their prices.
I’m glad we made our way down to Java earth for coffee and breakfast.
The atmosphere is clean and put together yet very low key. They have a number of tables inside and outside– it seems like most tables inside were taken up by people studying.
They have a decent size menu considering the size of the palace. They have sandwiches, wraps, burritos, bagels, acai among other items.
I ordered the cass at wrap $ 7.75 which comes with turkey, jalapeños, cucumber, chipotle, provolone, lettuce and avocado. It was nice and fresh and a very nice size– I had to save half for later. My bf had the Mexican breakfast wrap $ 6.75– it was also a good size they toast the wrap which is really nice.
I had their kiwi tea which was very refreshing (I typically don’t like kiwi which is funny). My bf had an ice coffee which he liked.
The girls working there were really nice and in a good mood, despite how busy they were :) I would recommend Java if your looking for a quick eat for lunch or bfast :)
The only downside is that if you visit during the weekend seating is pretty limited.

Nice little coffee shop close to home. I stopped in and ordered the pitaya works bowl but they were out of pitaya so I got the acai instead. I also ordered an iced coffee. Prices are decent and the bowl was very good. My boyfriend got a matcha and it was delicious as well. 4 stars because the service was pretty slow despite the fact that not many people were in there. They have a ton of breakfast and lunch options ranging from bowls, to wraps to salads. They also have a good seating area that would be perfect for studying. I’ll be back.

There is something special brewing in this little café, and it is not only the nice coffee they offer, because I’m talking about the Avocado Toast served on sourdough bread and topped with chili flakes. It is not on the regular menu but as an employee favorite written on a piece of paper right in front of the register.
The sourdough toast comes generously covered with creamy well ripe avocado slice and topped with mildly spiced and flavored chili flakes (
). The toast was prepared very well, in that it provided a great crunch, but still had that great chewy texture that a good sourdough bread provides, but the star was that avocado with chili flakes (
). For some reason, those chili flakes just made that creamy nutty avocado taste that much better. This toast was a winner in my book.
Service was very nice at this place. The girls at the counter made me a mean Americano as well. The Americano was organic and had great flavor and a rich smoothness. Great coffee shop with some great eats as well…

Finally a place that serves real coffee, organic loose leaf teas and whole food ingredients!
I recently stumbled across this place per a friend’s suggestion. When you order, make sure to get on their customer loyalty program as your 12^th drink is free.
They have free wifi; inside and outside patio seating.
I have had their blood orange loose leaf iced tea as well as their peachy one. Both were delicious. I asked them to sweeten it with honey while it was hot so it could melt uniformly before they iced it. They were more than happy to accommodate my request.
Today, I got a 1 shot espresso coffee (I’m sensitive to caffeine) with coconut milk and coconut syrup.
Yes, this place serves coconut milk, almond milk and soy milk! Such a nice change to not feel guilty about drinking a cup of joe. This place uses healthy whole food ingredients to sweeten your beverages, unlike Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts where your coffee is sweetened with refined sugars and hydrogenated creamers.
I will however, ask for less sugar next time as I found my coffee today to be a little too sweet, but still good.
I enjoyed my coffee on the patio with my dog. They have dog treats and water available should you decide to bring your pup.
I am so excited to have found this place!
