Hello aspiring drummers!

As a teacher, my main focus is behind the drum set.

I enjoy working with all levels of players and many different styles of music, although a lot of what I do as a performer is in the world of Jazz, Brazilian, Cuban, Eastern European, Rock and Funk.

In our lessons we’ll focus on grooves, various drumming styles, technique, and build a solid foundation of stick control exercises as a means to develop your own sound as a musical, dynamic and melodic player.

The main thing is having fun and growing no matter what level we’re at ;-)

Business Owner

As drummer in San Diego, Julien Cantelm is highly sought after for his versatile and creative styles. Born into a musical family, Cantelm’s journey began at a young age, when he first picked up the violin before moving on to the drum set and acoustic guitar. Equally adept in jazz, brazilian, cuban, funk, rock and various other styles of music, Cantelm performs, records and works with numerous artists.

The Danny Green Trio —

Cantelm joined the Danny Green Trio in 2010 and recorded on Green’s highly acclaimed 2012 release A Thousand Ways Home which reached #17 on the national jazz charts and was nominated for best jazz album in the SDMA’s.

Dusty Brough —

Cantelm performs and records with an exceptional guitarist/​composer Dusty Brough in a duo collaboration with frequent guest artists.
