Kaminskiy Design & Remodeling

had an interview. he, the owner, wanted $ 1500 up front, for a «design plan» … with this design plan, you don’t even get a copy of it. yu pay for it, but its not yours. you don’t even get an accurate quote until you pay this $ 1500 bill and, for nothing. and, yes, as some other reviewer states, you first have to have a phone interview, as they want to see if your willing to pay the minimum of $ 30K to do the work. I might have gone further with the plan but the $ 1500 up front before you even know what the project will cost or, what they will do is just a plain and simple rip off.

Sketchy process.
They don’t do projects less than 55k (another reviewer was told 20k)… even when I stated my less than 20k budget I was encouraged to keep a scheduled phone meeting with Sergei. Whole process smells of a sales hustle.
It should be mentioned that the office staff I interacted with via email and phone were extremely polite and professional.

After having our kitchen remodeled last year, we decided to have our master bath remodeled. We heard Kaminskiy’s ad on the Dennis Prager’s talk show on the radio and called to have them bid our job. Rather than making an appointment to come out as everyone else did to actually see the job, they first make an appointment to have a phone interview with Sergei Kaminskiy. I made the appointment and waited for the call which never came. I then called back and was told that he would call right away. Again I waited. Finally hours later he called. He asked me what exactly we wanted done and then proceeded to tell me that their bathroom remodels run between $ 35,000-$ 45,000; an astronomical figure, and if that was my budget, only then would they would come out! Apparently, he thought he was talking to some uninformed housewife. Not only was the price he quoted, without even seeing the project, outrageous but his attitude was smug. Anyone who is entertaining remodeling bathrooms or kitchens, please get recommendations from your supplier. Arizona Tile & Marble gave us great and honest contractor recommendations, who actually took the time to come out to our house and who gave us great quotes that were within reason. More money than brains is apparently Kaminskiy’s target audience…

This comment is not about their remodeling or design service. It is about their process. I guess I have to say that today I was insulted in the nices way. My wife and I wanted to get an estimate on a remodeling job.
The job did not require the whole room being gutted and redone. Our starting budget was $ 5k, but not knowing how much it was going to cost. We wanted to get an estimate to determine if we had budgeted enough.
The first step is a phone interview conducted by Sergei. I thought to myself and guy that still out there drumming up the business for his business ++. He asked for me to describe the work we wanted done? What our budget was? This was all in the video they asked us to watch.
Then he basically just told us that the job was to small for them. That they do not accept jobs for less than $ 20K. The jobs they do, entail full remodels, ripping out the whole bath, redesigning it, pulling permits and building it…
The whole time all I could only think of the video they had wanted me to watch about the company. How his wife and him use to get up at 4 am to pass out fliers to get jobs. Then they would do the best job they could. To get the referals they needed to get more jobs. I guess they forgot some of those referals come from small jobs. Those people referred them to their friends and family. Those same customers have maybe had bigger jobs done since… I for one have had no work done by Kaminskiy… It is not for me to say who they should being doing work for. I think it would be better for them to advertise the truth that all work is for full remodels and no job for less than $ 20K…

My husband and I hired Kaminskiy Inc. for a kitchen and family room remodel and were extremely pleased with them.
It was a wonderful experience from the beginning through the end. Their friendly and professional staff worked with us on the design, stayed within budget and completed the project on time.
Each day the crew showed up as scheduled and we were most impressed with the clean up each evening when they were done for the day. I woud highly recommend them.

Sergei and his team did a great job. We had a project at the house and one at our office and both projects came out great. The employees there have a fine eye for detail and they were very clean in how they worked. I would highly recommend them for a remodeling project at your house or office.

I heard about Kaminskiy Construction through my sister. She had gone through a very difficult time with a contractor that all but ruined her back yard. Unbeknownst to her, he used tradesmen to do work that weren’t qualified to perform the task. Her patio was poured incorrectly and it sloped into the foundation of the house! Needless to say, it was a very expensive nightmare, and they were just so devasted, my sister and her husband were loathe to hire someone to repair the damage. Sergei and is crew were ultimately hired, and what a difference! My sister raved about how her crew treated her home with respect, they were on time for work and always polite, and were very clean. She really felt like her team worked hard to give her the yard she had promised, and then delivered on the deal! When I decided to have stamped concrete in my backyard, I met with a Sergei & a few contractors (just to get an idea of timing and pricing). WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Other contractors wrote arbitrary numbers on the back of a business card… while I know some things are a little give and take, I was shocked. The other quotes I received didn’t always include much detail. Then I received Sergei’s quote. It was detailed, looked professional, and really seemed to include a thoughtful breakdown of the work at hand. It wasn’t the cheapest quote I received, but after the job they did for my sister, I felt confident that Kaminskiy was the crew for the job. I wasn’t wrong! Sergei’s team was attentive to details, really showed a quality of craftsmanship that I hadn’t seen in a long time, were quick & clean, and you could tell that they took pride in their work. My patio came out beautifully — much nicer than I expected. Most importantly, the job was completed earlier than expected and on budget! Now that was especially great news!
I’ve had Sergei’s team come out to do a few other projects since my patio was completed. They’ve sealed my concrete and they’ve installed electrical outlets and an interior switch. I will most definitely reach out to Sergei as other projects come up, and I have recommended him to my neighbors. I feel confident that if you meet with Sergei, you’ll get a quote that is fair and accurate, you’ll be able to communicate with him and your team, and that the work will be done to your satisfaction. i truly believe that Sergei and Kaminskiy Construction will show you how a remodel or construction job should be done. You’ll never worry about having them on your property, and you’ll love the results. I’d put the quality of their work up against any of the bigger firms in town and you won’t feel like project 2,130! You owe it to yourself to call them and get a bid… you won’t regret it!

10/​27/​2011 I was not satisfied with my experience with Kaminskiy construction. I did not get past the design stage, so I cannot comment on their actual construction ability. I did not feel their design process added anything to my project. We paid $ 1500.00 and never received a final project estimate and they did not presented us with a final design that included requested changes. They came in way over budget, and their refusal to give us a materials budget made us question their commitment to our budget. The owner is a pleasant, talkative man. But I personally felt, I did not get any real value for my money and working with them actually derailed my project for several months. I consider them a minor costly mistake.
For the sake of integrity, I feel it only fair to add a phone call I received from Kaminskiy Construction, TODAY.(1/11/12) Almost a year after I first contacted them and more than two months after this bad review, Sergei called me up to offer me half of the design fee back, if I would remove this review. I offered to change it, but not remove it. Sergei refused, so no resolution was reached.
4÷1÷2013 Update: I received a letter with a refund for the entire amount of the design fee. It has been two years, but since the experience ultimately cost me nothing but time, I am less unhappy.

My renovation is fully complete and a «JOB WELL DONE!» to Kaminskiy Construction Inc. It deserves 4 stars due to the recent improvement of their customer service. This company follow through to make every customer happy and satisfied with their project. Workers really pay attention to detail when it comes to execution of work. KUDOS! Highly recommended for any project!
