Kearny High Educational Complex

I’m so jealous of this high school’s football field better than my HS Morse Tigers #1 lol. My nephew plays football on their field. Clean and plenty of seating.

I got to hear on a daily basis during the hottest of summer days how my child and others were coded but the popular students were not. Yay. All I could take from that is if you have the proper sass or if the teacher thinks you ought to act better than that and that there is hope for you then you get coded in order to keep you in line.
It was a super bummer when families brought and used air horns at the graduation. It hurt my ears. Further, it would have demonstrated great maturity, humility and consideration had no one brought them as per the paper that was included with every students robe being handed out. My child’s name is not BWAAAAAA! Parents were honking air horns over students names while they were called.
Out of all four years these are my worst complaints. I did not know where else to put this to be seen outside of my own private group of friends.

I signed my son up to start Kearny in the Digital Media and Design school when he entered 9^th grade 3 years ago. He’d gone to Jr. High at S.D. Performing Arts and was always goofing off or getting in fights, and despite being a GATE Seminar student, his grades were awful. He wasn’t thrilled to start at Kearny, to say the least, but once he was there he quickly made friends, the teachers loved him, and his grades shot up to As and Bs! He started to really enjoy school and found certain subjects he became passionate about, which has helped him with his college decisions. He just had an early graduation and has already been accepted to quite a few colleges. Another great thing here is that kids can take AP classes which can count toward college credits, AND they have an agreement with nearby Mesa College where kids who are doing well can take early college courses free! My son started that in 11^th grade.
The policy at Kearny is that you MUST not get lower than a C in any core classes for a final grade or you will be asked to leave and will be sent to your neighborhood school. This policy seems to work. My son had a final GPA of 4.5.
There is bus service to Kearney from all neighborhoods (hopefully this will continue). My son’s pickup was near 47^th and Logan and quite a few other kids from the area were bussed there.

Graduated from Kearny in 1971. Greatest memory is building an AM radio in Mr. T. Brown’s electronic shop. Visited the campus recently, noticed expanded library building and red trim around doors and windows. Green trim, when I attended, looks better. This school really did prepare for my career. KOMET POWER.
