I can’t say enough about the staff here. They are always helpful and I absolutely love Dr. Ungar. I have an older dog with a challenging health condition. I am always given options when it comes to treatments and told what things will cost before I decide what to do for my dog. Staff is always responsive at returning phone calls. I’ve been coming here a lot in the past 2 years since moving here and am happy with the attention my dog and I are given.

This place is a complete rip off. We have taken our dogs there for several years but NO more. A few months ago I wanted to get the prescription meds for fleas. They told me I had to have our dogs examined which of course would have cost a couple of hundred of dollars. I ended up ordering the meds off the internet, from Australia which does not require a prescription.
Yesterday I called them to see about getting shots for our dogs. They told me that the were due for an examination. I told them I just wanted the shots and not an exam. They said ok and I made an appointment to take them in. When I took the dogs in I was told that they would not give them their shots unless they had an exam. I said no telling them that they were rip off and walked out. My dogs are 14 years old and in decent health. I am not going to spend hundreds of dollars on these thieves. Petco will give shots for a reasonable fee without requiring an expensive exam. DO NOT GO TO KENISNGTON VET HOSPITAL unless you want to get fleeced

Kensington Vet is not close to my home but I’ve been taking my furry kids there because I heard good things about them and they have good Unilocal reviews. The vets and staff seem nice but I’ve never been 100% happy with the level service and care we’ve received but most of the vet visits have been for pretty routine issues. 2 weeks ago my cat had minor surgery to remove a very small benign lump on her back between her shoulder blades. Well, she got BOTCHED by Dr. Mason and staff. Her suture did not look right from Day 1 when she got home. It was all bunched up and NONE of the ends of the open skin were touching for proper healing and to minimize bacteria growth and contamination from fur and skin cells. On Day 4 I noticed some oozing and swelling from the badly scabbed suture. I brought her in the next day to have it looked at and asked if the suture should be redone. They said no and to just put warm compress on it and give a homeopathic remedy. The oozing stopped after a few more days and the suture scabbed up more and it looked less swollen. 2 days ago the stitches were removed and part of the incision is still NOT healed! There is still raw open ends of the skin that have not closed due to the improperly done suture. My poor baby! Of course I didn’t see this until I got home because they took the stitches out in the back room and would not let me be present for it. I immediately called them and spoke with Dr. Mason who performed the surgery. She blamed the poor healing on my cat (Luna) saying Luna had a «reaction» to the suture and that’s why it’s not healing well. Really??! She’s not healing well because you and your staff did not properly stitch her up to allow proper healing and instead has led to complications and suffering. I emailed them my concerns and dissatisfaction that evening (Fri) and still have not received a phone call or email back from any vet or staff member (today is Sun. they were open all Sat). The photo posted is the current state of Luna’s botched suture/​incision post-​stitches removal.
Please do not trust your furry children with them for any surgical procedure. This was a small minor procedure and they botched it causing unnecessary complications and suffering. And now after stitches removal, there is still raw open bleeding skin that Dr. Mason advises to «keep an eye on for infection, keep it clean, and make sure it does not rip open.» I can’t imagine the result and complications if this had been a major surgical procedure.

I was referred by a friend here and had just come back from an appointment and this place is great! They are warm and friendly and made my dog feel very much at ease even though she was shaking the whole time. I’m a new client and had an appointment scheduled for next week but my dog had started vomiting the past two days and I wanted to get her in as fast as possible. When I called to try and get an earlier appointment they were booked but put me on the wait list for cancellations and actually called me the next day! I was relieved to get her in ASAP to get checked out.
I met the founder who reviewed how the office worked, and she preformed a check up to make sure everything was okay. My dog’s stomach was a little on the tender side so she provided a plan of action including some x-​rays, blood tests & shots. They came back with a list & pricing for you to decide what you wanted to move forward with which I appreciated that they were being pushy at all. I decided on some shots and special diet they suggested to see how my dog feels the next few days.
Everyone on the office was super helpful in answering my questions and no wonder why they’re all booked up, they’re a great Vet office.

Be careful what you say in a review … to think that I thought a lot had changed since my prior update, wow, I must have cursed myself.
Unfortunately, we lost Sasha in April after a nine-​month battle but Dr. Valdes was by her side all the way. Then Dr. Valdes and her husband moved away to Guam due to his Navy assignment. We were crushed to not have Dr. Valdes any more, but Dr. Ungar and Dr. Seitz and the rest of the Kensington Vet Team have stepped in with Sammie and Leo and the transition has been seamless.
We are very, very fortunate to have this entire team of professionals in our corner. Dr. Ungar is an incredibly compassionate vet while balancing the demands of being a business owner. Dr. Seitz is enthusiastic and eager to help. All of the staff is phenomenal but Elizabeth has talked me «off the bridge» a couple of times in the difficult past six months … her love and understanding of animals is second to none and her empathy is a god-​send. The staff and doctors truly care about their work and treat animals and humans alike with respect and kindness. Even when I leave a voice mail after hours they always promptly return my call first thing the following morning. I have two small rescues who are very fearful and they handle them very well, it’s refreshing to go to a vet who doesn’t just want to get you in and out but cares about establishing a positive relationship with your pet. This is not the closest vet hospital to where I live, but I gladly drive out of my way to take my dogs here!

I love the people who work at this vet hospital. Everyone I have come in contact with has been extremely caring and patient with me and my animals and always so helpful. They’re also great about communicating the exact cost of everything so there’s no surprises when the bill comes.
We had to put one of our cats down and Dr. Valdez was amazing with her and made the painful experience (I miss dr Valdez!) a bit smoother and more comfortable. I see genuine concern, love and care for all the animals they see and I love that.
I will continue using this vet for my cat and any new animal I adopt, I absolutely recommend them.

If I could give them six stars, I would.
My poor kitty and I recently moved here from PA and into a place that was infested with fleas. Well, poor Bug (my cat) started barbering like mad and was just so itchy and uncomfortable. A visit to Kensington Vet and their resident cat Doctor (who’s name I forget but believe is a goddess on earth because of how she treated us) has Buggy on the right track. She didn’t chastise me for anything I should’ve done with Bug, gave me all of my options, told me what she’d do for any of her five cats and then said Bug should be a therapy cat (he’s that perfect). $ 60+ for the visit, but worth every penny. And, they emailed to check in on him. I am so thankful for them.

I brought my little dog Oliver to Kensington veterinary hospital to get a rabies shot and I finally felt comfortable with the veterinary hospital I brought him too. I had a great experience and so did Oliver everyone was so sweet, knowledgeable, and best of all they truly seemed to care about little Oliver. If you’re looking for an amazing trustworthy vet, Kensington veterinary hospital is the place to go!

Kensignton vet hospital is very close to home and although they are who we consider our dog’s primary care giver, we are pleased to have people who care and are nice to animals near by.
Even when they get so busy, we seem to get same day appointments and they go above and beyond to accommodate us.

I’ve always loved Kensington Vet, but today really sealed the deal. Not only were Dr. Ungar, the assistants and staff compassionate and welcoming, but they also provided us (my cat and I) with excellent care and instruction.
My poor feline got her paw caught in a falling window frame a few days ago. I immediately called Ken. Vet. for info on where to go (as I knew they would be closing soon). They referred us to the VCA Emergency in Mission Valley (which went well) and then they fit us in for a followup on Monday morning (they were SUPER accommodating and concerned, especially due to the trauma related to our case).
We went in today for our follow up at Kensington. We left with EXCELLENT care and love, and both homeopathic (SUPER affordable AND incredibly helpful and relevant… I’m an acupuncturist so I’m down with natural medicine 100%) AND Western Meds specifically catered to my little feline. She is the most happy and active I’ve seen her since her accident after visiting the caring staff at Kensington!
5 stars allllll the way! We will be returning in a few weeks for another follow up, and I know we will be just as pleased with our care then too! Thank you Kensington staff and Dr. Ungar for your unrelenting, compassionate and informed care! We love you!

Can get very busy at times, but this is a nice little clinic with caring techs and vets who will take the time necessary to carefully and thoroughly explain their thoughts and recommendations. Our cats have been seen by both Dr. Jordan and Dr. Gossard, and they are both wonderful and caring.
Their prices seem average for vet procedures. They don’t try to push exorbitantly priced extra diagnostics or procedures on you, and they will try to help you prioritize if you indicate that cost is going to be a consideration.

I can vouch that they care. I am not a client, but called for their help. A friend’s dog got away on my watch and I called to ask that they call me if someone happened to bring her in. They took my number and details and also gave me wonderful suggestions to go about finding her. They went a step further and checked Craigslist, then called me back to let me know someone had posted that they found her! So grateful.

Once again I am amazed by the wonderful staff at Kensington Vet Hospital. I have been extremely overwhelmed this month with work and life and they have accommodated me and my fur baby without question or hassle.
I cancelled my first appt this month, rescheduled, missed my second appt (completely my fault) and they were still able to fit me in for a third time that was convenient for me. No fuss, no added fees.

My little 5 year old Maltese just went to Kensington Veterinary Hospital last week for a comprehensive exam. It was the most wonderful experience we’ve ever had at a vet. The exam was by far the most thorough she had ever received, and the recommendations we got were both detailed and heartfelt. We decided to get her spayed because of the risks outlined by Dr. Valdez. We will definitely stay with KVH as long as we have our dog and as long as we’re within driving distance.
It was hard to get an appointment to see the vet at Kensington, probably because of all their happy patients! The only wrinkle was that it took a few phone calls to finally get a hold of someone and schedule her appointment. The building and exam rooms were somewhat dated and felt cramped, but I’d much rather have this than mediocre veterinary care at a super fancy office.

Love this vet hospital. They always seem to be friendly and helpful and really care about the pets. Prices aren’t horrible and I really like that they don’t take my cats temperature unless he is sick since we all know it is probably not fun to have something stuck up your butt.

I live in Claremont and will only take my cats here. Friendly Staff who are in tune with my cat’s needs. Reasonable prices.

All the doctors at Kensington Vet Hospital are awesome but I wanted to review KARI, the groomer at KVH. Kari is definitely «the pug whisperer» she is the ONLY person that can shave and clip my pug’s nails. It usually takes 3 people to wrangle my pug into submission at other groomers.
The staff is very friendly and provides excellent service. Macaroni always leaves looking and smelling fantastic!

I live in Normal heights and the convenience level is insane, right down the street from my home. What’s more important, the staff is very caring and although the only reason I first took my dog there was purely out of convenience –I find myself going back, everyone is very caring and the doctor seems so kind and knowledgeable.
Appointments take days, they are busy and my dog is treated so well.

Always welcoming. my dog Apricot… correction my boy Apricot is never afraid to go here. He has small issues like a ear infection but it was also his annual physical. Because of the infection we had to forgo the shots until a couple of weeks from this visit.
First and foremost when looking at a Veterinary hospital, you look at how they treat your companion. Then you try to see if they are just selling you malarkey of services not necessary. Lastly how does it cost in the bottom line.
We have been going to Kensington Veterinary Hospital for a while and trust them completely. I am sure we can go somewhere cheaper but it will not be the same.
Today’s annual checkup for my soon to be 9 year old went well. His teeth has minimal tartar (he needs a gentle dental cleaning soon). His overall health was good. He gained a couple of pounds since his last visit and he even let the Dr poke his hiney to make sure he is doing fine.
I would recommend Kensington Veterinary Hospital but I hope that people check them out for themselves. Some reviews have been a bit harsh but we all love our companions and should do our best to get them great care and be able to trust the people who check them out. Use your own judgement.
