I used to come here all the time for banh mi sandwiches! It was my favorite spot. Came here last week to grab a sandwich before work and saw that there were no menu signs and kinda looks empty. I saw a note on the window that said they were under new management. I asked if they still made sandwiches and the guy made one for me. It wasn’t what I had asked but I don’t think he understood me. The sandwich wasn’t bad though. This place is a hole in the wall. It used to be good. It’s in a good location next to vien dong supermarket.

This is definitely one of those restaurants where you worry if it’s going to be clean or not, but the Vietnamese Sandwiches are phenomenal. In San Diego, this place is second to none when it comes to Vietnamese Sandwiches and they have been open for almost 20 years. I only took one star off because of their cleanliness, if you can look past this, you will love it. If you like K sandwiches(sucks to be you), I guarantee that you will like this place more. Did I also say«Buy 5 get one free?» Oh yes, oh yes my friend. This one may be difficult to find, but it is in the same shopping complex of Vien Dong Asian Supermarket if you’re familiar with City Heights. Don’t get confused with the Phở places which also sell Vietnamese Sandwiches. This place only serves Vietnamese sandwiches and a few other dishes that they prepare daily. My recommendations: Egg rolls– do not get the veggie ones, don’t order if you don’t eat pork, highly recommended by yours truly! I can eat 20 of these in one sitting Dac Biet Sandwich aka the Special– you will love this if you like pâté BBQ Pork sandwich– delicious Pork spare ribs with white rice– this is not served daily, but it is one of my favorites Enjoy!

I love their eggrolls here! this is definitely the spot for eggrolls. Parking can be a hassle sometimes because there are Asian Markets, Phở Resturants and even a doctors office around the corner.

Their sandwiches compared to the restaurant next to Vien Dong Supermarket is 10 times better but the store front isn’t the best looking, their sandwiches are good but not the best I’ve had. The owner is very friendly and its a mom and pop shop, its been in the community as long as I can remember, it definitely been long since it’s glory days but I always come back to support them! There is a nostalgic and sentimental feeling to this place. Like the days when we are younger and how a place look didn’t matter its just how good the food taste that counted.

Okay, I must admit. This store looks HELLASKETCH. Really dingy looking… Not just a hole in the wall joint… but more like someone decided to sell sandwiches out of their self storage unit. Random stuff everywhere! How they got the A rating is puzzling to me but a little more comforting I guess. The only saving grace is that the sandwiches are legit. Yummy toasted bread & perfectly proportioned fillings. They actually stuff sandwiches with meat unlike K’s Sandwiches and don’t load up on extra homemade mayo like A Chau. Oh by the way, this place is CHEAP. There are special deals everyday here. For example, a Ham sandwich, 2 egg rolls & can of soda is only 4 bucks. I’ve ever gotten sick eating here before. The guy that usually works here is friendly. If you can look beyond the dinginess off the place, you’ll enjoy the legit vietnamese sandwiches: D

Ok, I agree with what everyone is saying about this place, except the flies… I didn’t really see any, if I did, it would’ve bothered me much. Anyway, me and my gf was kinda lost and we made a U Turn in this complex. I remember going here with my asian friend back in jr high, so I remembered the place well. There was other viet restaurant or sandwhich place surrounding Kien Giang, but we decided to take a risk and try this ghetto looking place. So we did, went in, and noticed the place looks kinda iffy, and usually, a place that looks kinda iffy serves really good food(my theory). They have 2 separate menu, one in english and one in viet… I wanted Bahn mi… and the guy thought I didnt know what I was ordering, so he pointed out that they had a «english version» on the menu… lol, stupid, i knew what I was ordering… so I just changed my order, and ordered the special. Waited and looked around inside, yea, its kinda ghetto, everything is cramped in there. Fridge, shelves, display box that had a computer that looks like it doesn’t work. Finally got my order, and it was pretty good. The bun was soft and warm. It kinda reminded me of the first time I had my first Vietnamese sandwich(Lee’s Sandwich). Will I go back to this place, only if I’m around the area. 4 stars because they need it and they deserve it, even though the place looks ghetto, their sandwich just saved them from me giving them a 2 star.

The Health Dept must be on the payroll because I saw so many code violations in that tiny place. They need to revamp this place. Clean it up and make it more inviting. I dont even want to look at the kitchen area. Actually I do, just for kicks but man, get the front in order. Overall the food isnt that bad but when you have a dirty business, people think that your food must also be dirty. Flies everywhere, food left out on the counter for an indeterminate amount of time, front door not handicap accessible,

We call this place«Fly Guy» because there are flys everywhere inside. How anyone can go in there and order a sandwich, while watching flys buzzing everywhere is beyond me.
