I come here all the time this park I think is the best outdoor park in San Diego. I have the year membership which is $ 30, but if you go at least 4 times in a year it is worth it. Without membership it is 10 dollars a session. It is $ 5 a session with membership and the sessions are 11:00 to 2:00 and 2:00 to 5:00. You can also buy a month pass for $ 40 with this you get free sessions for a month. I highly recommend you get a month pass for the summer because in the summer because of the long days they have 3 sessions. The people that work here are very nice. If you are under 18 just remember you need a parent to fill out a waiver for you.

Biggest skatepark in Southern California. This place is awesome. Great park for all skill levels. First time on a board and scared to begin? No worries, friendly staff will help you start out and give you an extra boost of confidence. It is one of the only supervised parks around which is great for parents and younger kids, a lot of parents are too intimidated to leave their kids alone here at first just due to the massive ramps all around and bad experiences at other unsupervised parks but they soon learn that it is a safe and organized place and within a few visits that changes. One of the only parks to allow scooters, unfortunately. This is a great facility with full sized vert ramp, an extensive BMX area, mini-​ramp, street course, concrete pool (skateboards only, don’t even think about it) and a mini land beginner course. Don’t have any gear? There are about a dozen skateboards to choose from, free of charge, and a helmet rental for the day is $ 2. This park breeds progression, and the staff help push a healthy and positive lifestyle to ALL riders. Great place for a birthday party during session hours or you can rent the park out on weekends before they open, your birthday child and 10 other riders for $ 150, what a steal. They also host events, like Recon Tour, scooter-​con (lol), OG Jam and their year annual Clash at Clairemont which is a fundraiser for Grind for Life which helps pay for cancer treatment. Your likely to see all the big name pros at these events, live music, food, and sponsor vendors giving out swag. The park is right off the 5 freeway, 5 minutes from the bay and 10 minutes from the beach. You can see the ocean from on top of the vert ramp and riding during sunset hours can be a treat.

Hey this place has a pool, so bring your trunks, bikini, raft and floaties… just NO PEEING IN THE POOL… I’m still waiting for them to fill it with water…(sigh) JK

I spent only five straight months here with my six year old son daily… and what makes this YMCA park great is CHARLIE… and a handful of staff members… the friendly carpenter Mayo… the friendliness is great. This is a top-​notch facility, but that is not what makes it great… It’s the way it is ran…
If you are just getting started, you buy the membership for the year, 30 bucks, cash or check…
Then you pay daily, a four or five dollar fee (I can’t remember), they have great discounts during the week, like Skate Shop T-​Shirt Fridays, and you can skate for two bucks, Tuesdays is two dollars… or just pay a flat rate of 40 bucks a month and skate unlimited.
This place is like a farm where professional skateboarders are grown… there are like a dime a dozen at this joint… it is very cool to see… just…
Don’t let the «I am too cool cuz I ride a piece of wood with four wheels attitude» scare anybody off… because nobody was instantly good (even the «cool-​kids»)… and in the end… isn’t everybody just trying to have FUN???

My 6 yr old son just finished a week of skateboard/​razor camp and loved it! He didn’t want to leave. The teachers/​counselors were very encouraging as he was a beginner and made him feel very comfortable. Very impressed by the facilities and staff here, will definitely be bringing him back here soon.

Pretty awesome spot for the kids. The staff is really nice and the kids are extra nice. Kids had a lot of fun! Cost $ 10 per kid per session. I think this is a little on the high side.

Fantastic skate park for kindergarteners on their first Razors or competitive BMX riders. My 6 year old loves it, especially after attending the YMCA camp for a week here. He’s riding new ramps every time we go and doesn’t feel intimidated at all. The park is big enough that if he gets tired of his buddies, there’s more than enough room to space out. Great beginner area with tiny ramps, but goes all the way up to a seriously intimidating half-​pipe. They even have a giant «empty swimming pool» for skateboarders only, thank God! because if my kid ever tried to jump in, I wouldn’t be able to get him out!
Membership is $ 30 and on Tuesday’s session fees are only $ 2!!! There are 2 sessions– 11 – 2 and 2 – 5. Don’t look at the times on Unilocal because it always says they are closed before 2pm.
On our latest visit, our 4 year old scooted out in the bowl on his 3-​wheel mini-​kick and was totally comfortable despite all the speeding wheels around him! I even saw someone who looked like a grandpa on a scooter next to a kid.
There is a great observation deck for parents that is shaded and has plenty of seating. There is also an indoor «lounge» where the kids congregate to brag etc. while watching videos on a flat screen. Snacks are available at the concession area, but not anything healthy — Sunchips, Lays, energy bars, sugary drinks. I highly recommend bringing your own water and snacks. There is an outdoor water fountain as well as 2 Port-​o-​potties. Plenty of parking every time I’ve ever been.
The kids seem very supportive of each other and careful about daring etc. A couple kids I’ve spoken to have had broken bones from skating here, so make sure your kid is wearing protective gear and snug fitting clothing — stuff that won’t accidentally catch on a scooter handle etc. Also, know your own child’s limits and keep an eye on them if they like to take risks. I was so impressed when I saw a child fall and start crying, at least a dozen skaters stopped to gather around and offer help. He got up and skated himself out of the bowl still in tears, tough guy! Plus staff was there almost immediately to check him out.

I think I will be spending a lot of time here…

State of the art action sports facility!
This park has everything– wooden bowl, concrete bowl, vert ramp, mini ramp, street course, bmx park. This is an outdoor park and all of the ramps are regularly maintained and fixed by the staff team members.
The facilities are clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a shop where you can buy equipment if something breaks or buy a snack if you are hungry.
The park itself has a really friendly and inviting community. A lot of the pros come here to skate, there are lots of demos and contests here as well. Just coming to this park on random days, I have ran into some of the pros that I have looked up to as a kid which has been a real treat.
I would recommend this park to anybody as it is probably one of the best facilities in the world.

World class facility run by a staff that cares about providing a great place to ride or skate. From beginner to pro to guys getting back into it, there’s something for everyone.
It’s a safe, clean environment, with a small shop for gear if you break something and snacks/​drinks as well. There’s two viewing areas for parents to watch the action.
I do wish some parents would take a more active role in their kids interactions though. I’ve seen it at multiple parks in San Diego (not just here), where the 8 – 12 year old set think it’s ok to cut off others or otherwise, for lack of a better description, take turns. This isn’t something particular to the Krause park, it’s almost any park I’ve been to.
If you’ve never sent your child, please note that each child is required to have a signed waiver by each child’s parent. You can’t send them with a note. Please don’t get upset with the staff when they enforce this rule.
