Worse place to live, I highly suggest asking for the theft history prior to signing a lease. We had two motorcycles stolen a couple of months apart, 4 of my neighbors motorcycles were also stolen. Keep in mind this is all within a few months in less than a year.
They also broke into to my neighbors car, stole all her personal belonging including her house keys.
Once the lease is up they raise it on an average of 400 to 500 per month, regardless if its 1 or 2 bedrooms but they can’t afford cameras to improve security and theft prevention.
There is a high incedent of motocycle theft and car vandalism, and it’s dishonest and unprofessional not to disclose this information with new/​existing residents.
Not blaming the staff. They’re actually very helpful in many ways, but the company is what makes this a bad place to live.

I lived in Irvine company for 5 years and compared to my previous experiences, this one is the best. Very polite office, professional maintenance staff (5 satrs theee) and very reasonable when you check out. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is that the mother company’s policy is to rapidly increase rents once you’ve settled in and force you choose between moving out or paying a lot. It’s not La Jolla Palm’s fault but still forced me moved out. An increase from 2100 to 2700.

We just signed our lease for La Jolla Palms. So far, we’ve worked with Dane, who has been great! The leasing office has provided exceptional service (Dane took us on a FaceTime tour of our apartment and the complex) and is making our move from Boston much easier. Having lived in the UTC area for about ten years (before Boston) we are familiar with the area and know the Palms has a wonderful location. Close to markets and shops and near the bus line. Looking forward to our move!

I love the Irvine Company and their properties. Their staff is so kind, friendly and promptly helpful. I am always happy to pay more to live in a beautiful place, have the amenities and be the recipient of a property and staff that have high standards of resident service and experience. I loved living here at La Jolla Palms and encourage people to experience the positive lifestyle. The location is ideal and a perfect, cozy apartment community. I lived in La Jolla palms for a year and loved it. Loved the location. Loved that’s a gated community. The maintenance team was Very good and professional (although the level decreased when I was leaving because of new employees not knowing the standards I guess). The office staff was very kind, tho not always very efficient nor communicating well enough, but we are all humans …
I removed one star because depending on where your apartment is, it can be very noisy being by the road or on the first floor, and because I had a few termites crawling in the bathroom AND because their prices have increased SOOOOOO much since last March (in 6 months). I used to pay 1950 $ (on 4th floor) for one bedroom and now they are pricing it at almost 2500 $ (on 4th floor) for ONE bedroom !! Without remodeling anything !(my fridge was a standard old style with freezer on top (I get an American stainless steel fridge with 2 doors and big freezer in the bottom at The Village Mission Valley) and my apartment didn’t look new (like the one I have in The Village)
I understand the location is great but come on now ! You’re going to loose a lot of clients by being greedy.
It’s too bad because I would have come back to live there again, but not at this price.
If you combine my review and another one talking about prices, it seems like the rent went from 1600 $ to 2500 $ in a couple of year.
That’s insane …
We shall see what will happen to La Jolla Palms business with those expensive rents… that keep on increasing … because of the location …

moved into la Jolla palms a few months ago and I love it! The manager and her staff have gone above and beyond to make us love living here! The property is beautiful and well maintained! You can tell the people who work here really care about this property! So far nothing to complain about except more movie nights light last weekend, do fun! Thank you la Jolla palms, I love where I live!

When we first moved to La Jolla Palms we were in love with the place. Of course the staff did an amazing job at selling us our new apartment. Maintenance was great, and still is (we love Robert). Neighbors were all friendly, respectful, and courteous. However there seems to be a recent influx of «partier» types and other individuals who have no regard for abiding by the noise ordinance included in their lease. (See previous reviews from other residents). To make matters worse, Management is totally ineffective at dealing with these issues. Note we have seen FOUR different Property Managers come and go in under 2 years. In speaking with our neighbors this seems to be the norm. You complain, they seem so concerned, say all the right things to try to pacify and mediate, but in the end you’re screwed. We had to deal with many nights of lost sleep. Many times not even being able to relax after a long day’s work due to our neighbor’s dog who barks and howls for hours on end into the early morning hours. This being a violation of our right to quiet enjoyment of our home, which was a basic provision of our lease. We have even experienced harassment from said neighbors in retaliation for complaining. Rules are not enforced, zero consequences.(again, see previous reviews form other residents) After months of complaints we were finally allowed out of our lease– one month early, thanks a bunch. This is only because Management was tired of dealing with the issue.
You might get lucky and have awesome neighbors within close proximity. But if you end up with complete douche bags living anywhere near you then be prepared to just suffer through it. I’m sorry Irvine Company, but if I’m shelling out 2 grand per month for a 1 bedroom apartment I expect more. WAY MORE.

I’ve lived at La Jolla Palms for almost a year and have nothing but good things to say about it!
I’ve lived at a few other nice communities in the area and La Jolla Palms is by far the best maintained, most well run and the prettiest property in the area. The office staff is always really nice and follow up to make sure any request a resident had was taken care of. In particular Jamie, the manager goes above and beyond to make sure your request was taken care of.
The maintenance staff is fantastic. The property is so clean and always well maintained. Vincent, keeps the community extremely well maintained. And if a maintence request is needed they are always on time for the appointment. The building also has a security guard at night who is very attentive.
Overall I can’t say enough good things about La Jolla Palms. It’s a beautiful, well maintained and safe property and the staff are always helpful and attentive!

The staff at La Jolla Palms, in particular Kia, were incredibly helpful throughout my apartment search. Unlike the staff at many of the less well-​managed complexes in the area, Kia went out of her way to keep in regular communication with me during the application process, giving me updates on apartment availability and move-​in options. I’m so grateful for her efforts in making the process as smooth and easy as possible.

I am moving from Monte Vista to La Jolla Palms, both Irvine Company. I can’t say enough of the excellent customer service I have receive from both places. Antonio welcomed me at La Jolla Palms, his friendliness and professionalism is head and chowder above the rest. A couple of days later I was greeted by Kia, she is outstanding! I am very happy to make La Jolla Palms my new home. Amenities and beautiful homes are easy to find in La Jolla but wonderful people who treat you like family makes all the difference.

I just read Tai’s review and will keep mine in the same fashion, only will point out that I lived here much longer, since Jan. 2010. I just moved out. The amenities are not worth the rent and the place/​residents have been getting worse (while the rent is only going up). My rent went up from $ 2,180 to $ 2,335. If I was to re-​sign for next year it would have been (gasp!) $ 2,780 per month. For 950sq. feet 2b/​2b.
Yes, I will be repeating the others: some new residents do smoke marijuana and have very loud visitors at 3am, throw parties in the middle of the week. Also, I have seen countless times now groups of young guys who have gatherings at night in front of the building on the hoods of their fancy cars… I think they are some international students… Bizarre, isn’t it?
Yes, and complaints have been sent to the management and they try, but nothing seem to happen.
I agree with other reviewers, it’s strange that the leasing office doesn’t do anything about the neighbors who are being a nuisance to others… Even a few years ago the building was not like this… there were more professional people, not students. People greeted each other in the elevator. Now 75% don’t even speak English. However some of my neighbors are older and extremely nice, well-​mannered people. I was very sad to leave but it was a relieve in a way, too.
the good stuff: the maintenance team is amazing, Robert is on top every time! And the clubhouse is free for renting. But, just as the other review said, this isn’t’ enough for us to put up with a rent that has gone from $ 2100 to $ 2780.

The leasing office staff now rotates between all the other Irvine Company Apartments which makes it slow to get things fixed or found.
As another Unilocaler pointed out, we also had to live next to some new residents who smoke cigarettes, marijuana, throw parties in the middle of the week, and have random cars on the fire lane by their patio at all times of the day. We complained to the leasing office staff multiple times and although they were very courteous about it, nothing has been done.
I think it’s strange that the leasing office doesn’t do anything about the neighbors who are being a nuisance to others but I’m just glad my lease is up soon and I don’t have to deal with the smoke going into my apartment everyday and waking up at 2am before work. I guess the complex is becoming less of a family/​working-​adult place and more of a college student complex.
The best thing about the complex is that the maintenance is prompt and the clubhouse is free for renting. Unfortunately, this isn’t’ enough for us to put up with a rent that has gone from $ 1650 to $ 1730 to $ 1900 for a one bedroom apartment :(

First of all the location is perfect and on site pool and grounds are beautiful! The community is great with a nice mix of all age ranges. La Jolla Palms is very pet friendly and all the units we saw were very nice. Everyone from maintenance to Leasing staff, especially the on site Property GM Jamie are GREAT!!! I wish Unilocal could let me give it more stars ! From the monthly gatherings/​events in the clubhouse and beautiful front courtyard, I definitely can say «I Love where I live»!

I’ve lived here for about one and a half years with my boyfriend and dog.
We originally lived on the first floor but had to break lease and move to another unit within the same community because of issues with our neighbor. He would smoke cigarettes and sometimes marijuana on his patio at random times of the day, and his smoke would blow into our apartment. We left him a note, and the leasing office called him multiple times, but the issue was ongoing.
After moving to the second floor in another building, we are still dealing with the same issues. One of our neighbors is smoking marijuana every single day, and his smoke is coming into our apartment. It’s annoying, and it’s coming to the point where we think we might have to move again. Our manager is doing everything she can to help, but I don’t see this getting solved any time soon.
I am torn because the leasing office consultants are nice, maintenance workers are extremely on top of things, and the amenities are great. The current manager, Jamie, has been very helpful in hearing our problems and finding solutions. She brings a lot of improvement to La Jolla Palms. The location is also very convenient. It’s just some people are so inconsiderate. Many people let their dogs pee on the walkways, and the smell is horrible. My boyfriend has seen someone’s dog pee on another person’s doormat, and the owner did nothing. Also, I have gotten rude notes on my door and car because people feel the need to push themselves into my business.
Living here hasn’t been the best experience. Seriously, I’ve had better neighbors living in the college campus apartments. Smoking is the biggest issue here, and I wish people gave a little more consideration into how they’re affecting those around them.

Our family stayed here for two months (it was a temporary housing for us) and we all loved this place. The location is really good: there’s Von’s and a park not far from it, and a great pile of shopping options available (within walking distance).
The rooms in this complex are pretty spacious, personally I loved their huge walk-​in closets. They are all equipped with AC, steel appliances.
The staff is really helpful and always friendly, no matter what. I’m gonna miss these guys.
The complex also offers a nice underground parking, both for tenants and for guests. So you don’t have to worry about the temperature inside your car. The swimming pool is quite big, bigger than other ones that I’ve seen in this area. Every month the management holds some kind of event for the tenants, from pancakes to culinary classes.

I have lived exclusively in the UTC area since I moved to San Diego 5 years ago — first in the Costa Verde Towers and now at La Jolla Palms. Since moving to LJP 3 months ago, my experience has been equivalent to 4 stars.
Shaz, our leasing agent, is very approachable/​responsive. She was on top of her game as we had a few minor issues at move-​in with plumbing/​small fixes. Everything was fixed promptly and to my satisfaction.
The 2 bedroom layout w/​master is well suited for a couple who can utilize the extra bedrooms a guest room or have a 3rd roommate. Appliances are modern, décor is upscale, and natural light a plenty in this 4 story apartment complex.
Fitness area, although on the smaller side compared to neighboring Costa Verde Towers, gets the job done (cardio/​small weights), and the pool is especially nice and lit up at night. There is also a community clubhouse that is FREE to rent and serves as a fantastic venue for a birthday party, bridal or baby shower, etc.
Overall, very happy with my experience here and looking forward to hosting a Christmas party with 20 of my closest friends in a few weeks…
