LabCorp

A big problem for LabCorp they should fix. Impossible to contact LabCorp by phone. None of the phone numbers listed work. No one picks up the phone. Very hard to make an appointment or to talk to staff to make sure they got Dr paper work. (they have lost the paper work in the past). The staff that takes the blood are great. I was able after about a half hour looking on line and calling, to talk with someone from LabCorp, make my appointment and make sure the staff had my paper work. I was also told by the staff person at Lab Corp, main office that the people at the top of LabCorp don’t read the reviews on Unilocal.Well we know the people at the top of any big company don’t have a clue what is going on in their company they just make millions. While the staff who give the service may need more help and do all the work.

Expect to spend your entire day here. Clear out your schedule! Also be prepared to pay the creepy old man downstairs $ 3 to park.
This place is a hot mess. The receptionist doesn’t even speak english. The fat lady behind the desk clearly needs career redirectment.

If you want a good experience, show up right when they open or before 8 am. If you show up at 7:30 am, you may have just a couple of people ahead of you. The service is quite fast and the staff is nice. Also, come with your paperwork filled in and the check in will go fast for you. I’ve been going to this location for almost three years now and the service is consistent.

The wait here is horrible. I waited over 2 hrs for a blood test that took 5 min. There were only 4 people ahead of me, but there was only 1 staff person doing everything. A couple of people in the waiting room had appointments & still had to wait over 30 min.

Total joke. I know their profession doesnt require «customer service» but they dont have to treat us like absolute garbage like the few people and i have been treated since i got here well over an hour ago for a simple pee test drug screen.
I got repremanded for «not reading» the instructions where it says to print ur name and sign. Supposedly u are supposed to only sign after they take the sample and in fromt of the nurse. she actually said «well if u had READ the document»… IT DOES NOT EXPLAIN THIS ANYWHERE!!!
Unilocaling isnt good enough, im going to straight up get to the bottom of this with their superiors when i get home… im actually typing this from the office on a Unilocal app im so pissed! These ladies should be fired for how theyre conducting themselves.
They really have been talking down to everyone, super condescending and i feel like they are nazis asking for my paperwork before i get sent of to ze kamps!
description of offenders: They are both heavy, one is a super loud mouth yelling about how someone elses tests were done wrong or something. And they were talking on the phone about someone elses tests, what they were getting done, i heard the persons first and last name and everything.
Crap experience.

This place was sooooo ghetto. It was like sitting in a welfare office (no offense) with guv’ment workers taking their time to shuffle us in and out. My son and I both had our blood drawn. When I walked back to use their restroom, someone kept turning me away — turns out someone was giving a monitored pee sample. NOBODY TOLD ME. When my son got his blood drawn and he returned to the waiting room, he nearly passed out (he’s not as brawny as his mama). Their water cooler was out of water, and they didn’t have any candy to hand. I asked the receptionist whether she had any OJ and SHE DIDN’T BLOODY KNOW. Seriously? You have no idea if you have any orange juice in your facility?! She then asked me to get him some water and I told her (she didn’t know) YOU’RE OUT OF WATER. Stupid b*tch. I’m never going back to that facility. G-​H-​E-​T-​T-​O! Labcorp, get your act together!

This place blows. Took almost an hour to take the drug screen. They had only 3 people waiting ahead of me.

I haven’t even stepped foot in this place and I already dislike it! I called to ask about a pre-​employment drug screen. I am prescribed a medication that can cause a false positive for Opiates, which luckily I am aware of. I call to ask how this will be handled — should I bring in my prescription or a note from my Dr. so my potential employer knows I am not doing drugs? Incase you don’t know, Opiates are Heroin and I don’t need them thinking I do that!
She tells me «No, I can’t write anything on the form. I suggest you call your employer and tell them the medications you are taking. Otherwise you will possibly get a positive and then it will be too late». I am thinking, are you kidding me? I should not have to disclose anything to my employer about my health or my prescriptions — has this woman ever heard of HIPPA??? I continue to protest telling her that can not be the case. All she keeps on saying is, «I can’t write anything on the form, if you are prescribed it your employer should be fine with it».
So irritated, I call the customer service number about to explain what HIPPA is and that they are in violation all the while trying to figure out how I am going to keep this job offer! The lady I finally speak with after 20 minutes of waiting tells me if there is any positive a Doc will call me from the lab and get any prescription information. So many prescriptions can cause false positives that they will always confirm if it is in one of the families commonly tripped up by a drug test (aka opiates).
All this stress and confusion over one poorly informed employee. Good thing I know my rights or I probably would have emailed my boss and given him my entire health history!!! Be sure to double check the information you are given by these employees, they clearly aren’t trained very well!

I have been going here for the past year and a half and I need to have my blood drawn every 6 weeks. I have had no issues at all, it is an overall good experience. Parking in the parking structure will cost you $ 2.00 if you get your parking validated at the office. Parking is tight in the structure, but just keep driving down the the lowest floors and you should have plenty of space there.

First off, I want to be clear about the location: I am reviewing the second LabCorp in Hillcrest, on 4033 3^rd Ave, Suite 100 – I don’t know why that doesn’t show up in the Unilocal database. Based on my own experiences, I think it would be safe to say that all of the bad reviews are probably for the 3^rd Ave location as well… I’ve been to the other LabCorp (a few blocks away) twice, and had a much better experience both times.
So here’s what happened last time: I have been mysteriously ill for weeks and was sent down for a flu screen just to be sure that wasn’t part of it. By the time I left my doctor’s office it was almost noon, and due to the insanely slow elevators, I was too late and they were closed. So I had to go back after they got back from lunch. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be able to eat, but why can’t they stagger their lunch breaks to stay open? Hire more staff? Something?!
I had to get someone to drive me back, since at that point I was starting to feel like I was dying. Not kidding. My wait time when I returned was 55 minutes, during which I had to listen to the worst kind of pop country music ever made. I had a fever well over a hundred and ached everywhere and this was just cruel. Finally I got called, but when I showed the lab tech my lab papers she told me they don’t do that test. WHAT? I was feeling so bad I seriously almost fell over. She looked through a test index and called another LabCorp office to make sure, and then told me 5 minutes later that no, they really don’t do it there. I was near tears at this point – I’d already spent so much of my time at the doctor’s and being driven back and forth when I really needed to be home in bed. I asked if she could please call my doctor to find out exactly what test he wanted. I figured – correctly, as I found out later – that my doctor’s assistant simply just hadn’t known the proper name of the test. She told me, «I can’t call your doctor, I don’t have time. You can call him yourself.» That is a direct quote. I couldn’t believe her unwillingness to help me. I asked her twice, very nicely, and that was all I got.
I’m not ever going back. Ever.
I’ve been to the one on 3^rd Ave many, many times; the one-​star rating isn’t based just on this last experience. The wait is ALWAYS long, and you can’t make appointments (wait times seem to be a lot shorter at other locations). If you work during the day, this can cost you a lot of money in time lost. They are also closed between 12pm and 1 for lunch, so time your doctor’s visit accordingly!
You sign up on a wait list when you arrive, but they don’t check your lab order until they call your name – which can be up to an hour or so. Twice, I was told after waiting for so long that I had to come back to do the test later, for various reasons. And then when you come back you have to wait all over again. I once missed a total of four hours of work because of this. Ya know, I’m not wealthy and this is very expensive.
If you are wondering why I continued (notice the past tense!) patronizing a place that is such a time-​sucking void of unpleasantry, it was convenience. Two of the doctors I routinely see have offices in the same building (I have a chronic condition: hence the need for all the lab work). But after my experience there this week the «convenience» is no longer worth it one bit. I will NEVER EVER go there again. I’ll drive to Clairemont if I have to, I don’t care. My time and my emotional health are more valuable to me.

RUN AWAY. FAST. DON’T EVEN GET CLOSE TO THIS LOCATION. APPARENTLY THE OTHER ONES ARE BETTER. SERIOUSLY. NO TACT. Don’t even want to detail the «event.» Just trust your intuition if you get there, and then leave.

So, the quest continues to find the basis for my horrendous panic attacks and my new doctor ordered a complete blood work up to rule out any physical/​medical conditions.
Despite having several tattoos and piercings, I am absolutely terrified of needles.
Yesterday I made my way to HIllcrest on my lunch break in order to get this task over with. Parking wasn’t bad for me. There seem to always be metered spots on Washington and there is a parking structure that is pretty reasonably priced.
I wearily entered the office and was greeted by two friendly women. They took my paperwork and asked if I had been fasting. I told them I hadn’t and no one told me I had to. They said it would provide more accurate results so I agreed to return the next morning. They copied my insurance card so I would be in and out like the breeze the next morning.
After work I grubbed a sandwich around 6 and did not eat not one morsel from 7pm-7am.nor did I indulge in any alcoholic libations.
I woke up at 6:45am and got my butt ready for work and out to lab corp. I found parking quickly. I was dreading the blood being taken but the woman was very friendly, found my vein on the first try and chatted me up. I was in and out of there within 20 minutes. The whole experience was (almost) painless.

I guess I got here on a good day…
I had to get bloodwork done for some mysterious swelling/​hives/​fun. The two ladies working were the friendliest ladies I’ve encountered on my long and tedious journey through the medical centers of Hillcrest to get to the root of my current physical distress. But scary, kind of, like… east county, but in the middle of Hillcrest. It’s busy in the morning before noon, not so busy in the afternoon. Not the cleanest-​feeling place by any means, and I’m not sure they really understand the importance of keeping such a place as clean as possible.
I’ve had blood taken before, at a Labcorp (such a utopian company name!), no problem. But there was one bizarre comment here, also involving «small veins.» You don’t really want to hear something like «I hope there is enough suction in this vein!» while someone is sticking a large needle in yer arm.

I was having a wonderful day. I finally met a doctor I liked, on a referral from a coworker. The appointment went well, she was kind, and not intimidating in the slightest.
When it came to the subject of drawing blood, she knew that my insurance would cover the venipuncture fee if I had the blood work done at LabCorp on Washington. So I headed over.
HAVING BLOOD DRAWN USING A KNIFE AND A PLASTIC TUBE WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS PAINFUL.
I entered the labCorp office; it was a small lobby; it didnt look unclean, but it felt like it. Behind the desk were two women; a small Filipino lady and a heavy woman. I signed in at the desk and waited for my name to be called.
10 minutes of waiting passed, even though I was one of only two people in the lobby. My name was finally called and i approached the counter. The heavy nurse began to collect my information, when she was interrupted by the Filipino nurse:
«Aren’t you supposed to be on lunch? Go ahead and go, I’ll handle this! I’ll go to lunch after you get back. Don’t worry about it.»
The heavy nurse left for her break, leaving the Filipino nurse by herself. At that moment, about 4 – 5 other people walked in to check in for blood drawing.
Immediately the Filipino nurse got flustered; she rushed me into a small room and I sat down.
Now, i’ve had my blood drawn multiple times, and I can honestly say it doesn’t affect me as long as I dont look at the needle. I look away, feel a pinch, and it’s over. But not this time.
You TYPICALLY start off by tying off the patient’s arm and having them squeeze their fist so that the vein becomes visible if its not already. What happened at LabCorp was unacceptable.
She sat me down and told me to put my arm out. She immediately grabbed a needle, fumbled the collection container on it, and inserted it in my arm, doing ALL of this so quickly I hardly had time to look away.
There was the traditional pinch… followed by a sickening pain. i FELT her fumble the needle, mumble something about me having small veins… and then she PUSHED the needle DOWN into my arm. I yelled out «SHIT!!!» it hurt so bad I cant even describe it. She withdrew the needle.
«Jesus that hurt!!! What happened? Are we done???»
As I asked I looked and saw that the collection container was still empty.
She replied, «No honey, I couldnt find your vein. Lets try the other arm. I should have had you squeeze something. Give me your other arm; hold this.»
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
I ACTUALLY asked her that. I felt like an assassination attempt had been carried out on my fucking arm.
Needless to say, I couldn’t completely extend my arm for almost 2 days; my vein throbbed and throbbed and throbbed. I am glad to finally get this review out of m system. The experience was painful in every sense of the word. I am going to just pay my doctor the $ 15 venipuncture fee from now one. Fuck insurance! And LabCorp!
