History

Established in 1994.

Mr. Rigney is a December 1991 graduate of The University of San Diego School of Law and was admitted to practice the State of California in June of 1992. Mr. Rigney is also admitted to practice in the federal courts in the Southern District of California. Mr. Rigney is a past member of the San Diego Law Review and while still a law student, attended the Oxford Institute on International Law in 1990. He has an undergraduate degree in American History, with honors, from the University of California at San Diego.

The Law Offices of Jon D. Rigney was established in 1994 and incorporated as Jon D. Rigney, A Professional Corporation in the year 2000. Mr. Rigney’s practice has had a primary focus on family law and related matters for over 20 years.

I want to start by saying the law firm is good at what they do. I had Jessica Kleven as my Paralegal, and she was fantastic, and a true professional. I do agree with Jennifer G. they do charge $ 195 for the Paralegal and $ 300 for Mr Rigney. They also charge $ 20 for a one minute phone call sense they charge a tenth of a hour as a minimum. If your not careful your bill will be become exorbitant in a hurry. I feel they are very good in extracting money from you sense they know exactly what you make, and have. Unfortunately i couldn’t afford for Mr Rigney to finish my case, because my bill went crazy. I am still in the middle of it and doing it by myself witch sucks. Be careful of getting stuck with no money and no attorny to finish your case like I did.

This law firm was the worst part of my divorce. The paralegal assigned to my case was a $ 190/​hour complete idiot and could not do anything without reviewing it with the attorney at an additonal $ 300 per hour. My standard divorce cost me 4 times what my ex husband paid and we never stepped foot in court. A typical discussion with the paralegal would be circular. She never answered a question. i.e. «you’ve been served with a order to show cause.» I said «what does that mean», she said «it’s a document from the court saying that you need to show up to appear», I said «but what does that mean? I don’t understand», to which she replies «it is a document from your husbands lawyer indicating we need to appear», to which I said, «appear for what, I don’t understand what does it mean», to which she says «it’s an order to show cause document from court telling us you need to appear.» UGH. Thankfully I was able to settle out of court, but not because of any work this law office did. It took weeks to get documents created for signature, every single thing was worked up by the paralegal, reviewed by the attorney, revised by the paralegal againand submitted. This triple billing cost me my entire savings account (go figure, they knew how much I had). I even had occasion to talk to my husbands lawyer and she indicated that I was justified in being irrate with this siuation. She was also at her witts end with this firm and said she knows nothing about law and that I was being blatently ripped off by this law firm. Well, at this point I was so far in to the divorce I didn’t want to back out and hold it up longer. TRUST ME — STAY AWAY from this firm.
