Le Chauvinist Consignment Store For Men

Came in looking for an overcoat since my business traveling has increased during the winter months (are limited at home — South Florida).
Salvador (the owner) was very knowledgable and helpful without being pressured to purchased anything. The selection was ample. Found what I needed and then some. Wish it was located closer — highly recommended!

Excellent service and unique products. I purchased a classic ray ban glasses and haven’t seen one like it. It’s a wonderful boutique for men with variety of high end styles and brands. Some items are brand new as well. The gentleman who helped us was very attentive and full of information regarding the garments in his store. I was so intrigued with this charming boutique, I didn’t want to leave the store. But only negative comment I can say is some items are overpriced. You will enjoy this place.

Very cool spot, lots of high end men’s clothing for very reasonable prices. I walked out with a pair of blue Brooks Brothers pants for $ 25. Would probably have bought more if I’d had more time to browse the store but I was only in town briefly for a wedding. Will definitely pass by again next time I’m through.

Le attitude! We were so excited about the storefront and window that we waited 30 minutes for this store to open. The clerk showed up right at the posted opening time, 11. After a few minutes we tried the door– it was unlocked and we walked in. We were greeted by a very cold stare and «I’m not open just yet.» A minute or two later she came to the door and opened it with an even colder and more contemptuous attitude. My friend when in and actually bought a hat but I waited outside. My friend told me her attitude didn’t get any better with the prospect of a sale.

dropped off two canali suits that apparently never sold and thus went to St Vincent homeless shelter. I never received a donation receipt and went in a year after i dropped them off and he wrote a receipt by hand. I inquired to see if he was in fact making donations rather than just selling items and handing out fake donations receipts and keeping the cash. I confirmed with St Vincent that he is in fact making large regular donations. So, he fulfilled the agreement but never sold my suits and forgot to send a donation receipt so i give it an ok rating.

Horrible experience. This father and son essentially stole my husbands’s suits, slacks, shirts and ties. I dropped a lot off, had to go back in because I had not received the promised itemized list, never heard a further peep. I went back again and found none of the items I had consigned. I was told they had no idea where any if it was and they had no record of any sale at all!!! The suits were Armani and Brioni, very very disreputable owners. They have been there for many years-​I do not understand it.

I came in to this place with easily $ 2000 worth of clothes retail value. They sold nothing. I didn’t receive a single dollar for anything. I brought in excellent high end men’s designer jeans and vintage mens coats & jackets for consignment and was surprised that they did not sell even one piece. When I called to ask them if I could pick my clothes back up they give me some story about my contract and said no. Very surprising! Seems like theft to me.

It’s rare that you’ll ever really find a consignment store specifically for men, so I popped in to take a look around. I guess I was just shocked as to how much their prices were! It’s almost the same as buying new clothes, really. Shoes are $ 60, some shirts are even $ 60. I really don’t understand how any of it could be a «steal.» With those prices, it’s like they’ll be stealing from you! Jeez.

Well organized, and as a lady I can appreciate that.
Good range of sizes.
Men’s consignment for some reason is always still highly priced for what it is.
Walking in to the store to browse around for fun will wield you looks like you’re the prostitute in Pretty Woman if you’re dressed anything less than the standard La Jolla flare of high rollin’ outfits.
It’s worth a browse if you are waiting for breakfast at The Cottage.

I’m beginning to feel as tho I was taken!!! I really wished I had read the two reviews below from other people who apparently also had bad consignment experiences!
In October I dropped off 8 suits, 2 boots, 8 slacks and a dress shirt. The suits alone were over $ 10K when purchased new 1 – 2 yrs ago! Anyways, my husband and I did some major cleaning out of the closets as we had a new baby arriving in November. We had bags and bags of clothing and shoes that we were donating to Goodwill. I however couldn’t fathom giving away these selected expensive high end items, so I did some online research and found this Consignment Store. I brought the items into the store and meet with the owners son. He was very pleasant, kind and made me feel like the items I had brought in were in AMAZING condition, GREAT quality and expensive taste… which he said would result in quick sales. So I left the items, and later that week he mailed me a itemized description report listing the items I left AND the sale price they would be ticketed and on their sales floor at. The items were estimated at $ 5,000+ in sales for their store.
I called back into the store late in January to find out nothing had sold. I was surprised, but I’m sure the holidays were slow. SO this week, I decided I would do a ‘surprise’ drop in and see if the items were even on the sales floor. AND my gut feeling was right! Only ONE of my husbands suits was on the floor. I could tell I surprised the owners son when I walked in and asked what was the status of my other items. He said one of the boots sold (which I was never notified of and the contract says once items sell I’ll receive a check for my 60%), and the rest of the items were pulled off of the racks b/​c they didn’t want to ‘include them in the half off sale’ they were having. I then asked if I could have my items back since they haven’t sold and he said no. They now belong to them.
As a business woman myself, I understand the contract I signed — HOWEVER, I will dispute the terms of that contract if I walk into your store and my consignment items aren’t even on the premises! If you’re reading this and have interest in dropping off your belongings for consignment, I urge to you look elsewhere. Until this matter is resolved properly and fairly, I’ll continue to share this review with everyone I know

When I first noticed this place I thought it looked pretty cool and seemed like a good idea over all. Unfortunately their hours are pretty strange and I could never get a chance to stop by during the week. So after waiting for so long to actually get in the store, I guess it didn’t live up to the hype I had made up for it.
That’s not the real reason for my 2 star rating, though.
When I walked in, there was one other customer and two employees. The place was stone cold quiet and neither employee offered to help either customer. I casually walked around flipping through the old suits and checking out the old shoes. Nothing was really that impressive and the prices were still pretty high for a consignment store. I really didn’t expect to see $ 50 cardigans in there. Most of the sweaters and shoes were in pretty poor condition. Some of these items were thing I wouldn’t wear if they were given to me for free.
They did have some nice shirts and jackets but nothing really stood out to me. Plus, the sizes in there didn’t have much range. It seems like everything was medium. I guess that’s average but I’m a MAN!
The had a huge selection of ties but there was really nothing that grabbed me. It felt like I was looking through a grandpa’s closet and since it wasn’t halloween and I’m not a hipster, it just really wasn’t what I expected.
There was absolutely nothing in the shop that I was willing to spend my money on and not one single person in there ever asked how I was doing or if I needed help. I definitely wouldn’t think about going back. Two star rating because this place could come in handy you need an old man tie or if you wear everything in medium.

Huge variety of ties kinda old manish but you can find some class act ties. Got a 160 $ Hermes Tie for 25 $. A brooks brothers tie for 10 bucks. The place is where Ernest Hemingway would have shopped. It is just a cool store. Check it out.

A consignment store for rich guys? I guess it does exist, and where else would you find it than the old money capitol of San Diego. I don’t mind wearing some millionaires hand me downs so I was totally stoked to find this place.
Blue collar buddies, this is probably the best spot to look debonair without having to sell a kidney on the black market. There’s everything you could only imagine buying in your wildest dreams, but for half the price. It’s still expensive, but for the brands they have in stock you’ll be pleasantly surprised how affordable some of it can be.
If you’re in the neighborhood, it’s at the very least worth a look around.

Never received payment for the items I consigned to this shop; Gucci shoes, a SFA cashmere overcoat … after being laughed off by the owner, I wrote the BBB and they contacted him, but he never responded and there was nothing more they could do. Don’t shop here.

and decided to stop in and see what it was all about. I couldn’t have picked a better day to stop. It just so happened someone my size just unloaded over $ 20K in clothing… Score of a lifetime:) They also kept my contact information because the consignor regularly drops off his, «Old», clothing. The service I received was top notch and would recommend stopping by if you are in the area… I just hope you don’t take all the treasures in my size.

Really amazing shop, and a really lucky find! While waiting for a table for breakfast across the street (
), my wife and I took a stroll up and down the street, window-​shopping. When we stumbled upon Le Chauvinist, we wandered in (it was the only shop open that early).
Tons of high quality men’s clothing and furnishings in well-​organized displays. The helpful attendant was busy straightening out a display, but she cheerfully offered to help with any questions we might have.
During our 15-​minute wait for a table (it’s close enough to the Cottage that we could hear them calling names), we found three shirts that would have easily run over $ 300 retail, all in amazing shape, and we got them for $ 50 (they pay sales tax if you pay with cash!)
Looking forward to future visits to this hidden jewel of a shop!

le chauvenist is the place for quality clothes at great prices. mr viesca knows his stuff, from vintage ties to fine italian suits, to classic panama hats and tony lama cowboy boots.
you never know what your gonna find when you visit, its worth the trip.
he has it all there, its definitely a guys store… flasks, cigar cutters, vintage cuff-​links, great selection of hawaiian shirts… hes got it.
